After the 5.0 update to the Switch's operating system, many third party docks have been "bricking" or killing Switch consoles. While I have used a third party dock myself for some time, I highly recommend being cautious and buying this as a second dock. It may be a little pricey but it will NOT kill you system. If you are worried about transporting the Switch around with this dock, you can easily find bags and cases that can carry the official dock on Amazon or elsewhere. I personally bought the PowerA Nintendo Switch Messenger bag which has plenty of room for the official dock, system, and accessories. When in doubt, get official Nintendo products. Nintendo takes great care of their consumers.

I bought this as a second dock for my upstairs television vs one for the downstairs. I can now move my switch easily between two televisions. It's the exact same one you get when you buy a switch.
