Ended up upgrading to the family membership that allows up to 8 accounts to share. Could easily split the cost of membership if ypu have more people to share with. Not sure if the Nintendo online membership ever goes on sale though.

Extended my subscription

I learned you can have up to 3years stored for subscriptions. So plugging in the code just extended another year from the end of my already existant subscription.
