I got a Nintendo Switch about 4 years ago, then a couple months after, I began paying for the online service Nintendo Switch Online. Nintendo Switch Online provides online service for multiplayer games on the system. It also includes retro games from the NES to the N64 and the Sega. The main strengths of the product are low pricing, retro games, and the expansion pack. The first strength is its low cost. An individual one year subscription is 20 dollars, and a year family plan that supports up to 8 accounts is only 35 dollars. This is such a good deal considering competitors charge up to 60 dollars for a year. The second strength is the retro games it comes with. You can play many retro games from the NES and the SNES at no extra cost. This is great when you want to re-experience classics or discover new ones. With the service, you also get special access to purchase special remodeled classic controllers for your retro games. The third strength is the Expansion Pack. For a final extra charge of 35 dollars on an individual year subscription, you gain access to more new content. You are given a new library of retro games from the Nintendo 64 to the Sega Genesis. Another thing is you are given freebies like free access to new Mario Kart 8 DLC and additional content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With that extra charge, it is still less than competitors' prices. The main weaknesses of the product are the lag, retro games, and cloud saving. The first weakness is the actual online part of the service. You don’t need this service for free to play games, but you do on the rest, that’s a positive, but the thing is, the online sucks. Whenever you play a multiplayer game with the service, for example, Super Smash Bros., you will most likely get lag, and in some cases, it is just unplayable. The second weakness is the retro catalog of games. None of them are truly native as they are emulated and they play through the cloud, so in some cases, there could be a lot of lag, especially input lag. The worst part is that the Nintendo 64 games run horribly, and as a reminder, you have to pay an extra 35 dollars to play those tarnished games. Another thing about these retro games is that they are very limited, they only release about 3 retro games a month, in some cases, they are obscure games no one's heard of while they leave us begging for the games we really want. The final weakness is cloud saves. Cloud saves are used to back up your save data and are pretty much a standard for anything, they are usually free on anything. Nintendo however decided it is somehow a good idea to block that feature behind a paywall which is, Nintendo Switch Online. I just think this is dumb considering cloud saving is pretty much free on everything. The worst part is that cloud saving doesn’t work on all games. In conclusion, the service is alright despite its flaws. I think you do get a good bang for your buck though, considering all the features and its low price. If you get a Nintendo Switch I recommend the online service because it is near necessary and very beneficial. I would give it a B or 4 stars, the only thing bringing it down from an A, 5 stars, is those 3 flaws.

For $20 a year, it's dirt cheap, but I would much rather have virtual console back. Online gameplay is a mixed bag. Sometimes it works fine, other times it's a bit of a mess. I would rather pay a little more and have them improve the quality of the online play.

A must for Nintendo Switch Owners

If you own a Nintendo Switch you should buy a membership card. It is only $20.00 and you can't beat it especially since XBOX and PLAYSTATION 4 are a lot more. Once you have a membership card you can play a lot of the older NES games which is really neat and cool.

Perfect comment to the switch. If you close it to the rest of the services, it’s very well priced and it has good features for what you pay

You have to pay to play the Switch online. The online service is kind of lackluster, but you get to play some vintage games.

Price is fine but you don't get a whole lot for your money. The NES/SNES collection is solid but the offerings continue to get slim. And you shouldn't have to pay for cloud saves and online.
