Oh baby, a picture frame for the 21st century. Finally one that is wifi and has an app so you can control the settings and photos from your phone. I really like the black finish, it is elegant yet modern. Should go with any decor. I have mine in my office at school. So you will need to be on the same wifi network with your phone and the frame. This will allow you to sync your photos to the frame. FORMAT: Will play files in the following formats, .jpg, .png, and up to 60 second videos (with membership) mp4, mov, mpeg SYNCS: Google Photos, instagram, facebook and dropbox, in addition to photos directly on your phone. PLATFORM: iOS and Android WORKS WITH: Amazon, Alexa, Google, Apple Mail You can set it so the frame senses movement and turns on and off (saves screen and battery life). This is a nice feature so the frame is not always on, but does turn on when there is motion nearby. You do a get a remote control as well that you can use to control the frame. The remote connects to the back of the frame when not in use (if using in desktop mode). This is handy to keep the remote nearby. You will download the app and create your account to get started. Plug in and power on the frame and follow the onscreen instructions for connecting to your wifi network. Then in your app you will pair a new frame. You will create playlists in your app, and then share the playlist to the frame.

I'm a little late to the party, but this is my first smart photo frame! I've honestly always wanted one of these and I'm glad this was my first one, because now the bar is set high... As with everything, this device has an app that makes everything easier... Do I need another app on my phone? No, but I also don't NEED a smart picture frame, touché... I downloaded the app and off we were, Its super simple to select photos to display pictures and choose the settings of those pictures, you can even set the hours in which you want the frame to be on, or to "sleep"...pretty cool! However, the coolest feature of the app is that you can "share" you picture playlist to anyone else with a similar Nixplay smart frame... so I immediately thought of my parents, I can add/share my pictures to their frame at their house, from my phone! Super cool and the best feature of this! I immediately thought of getting a few of these as gifts for the parents and grandparents in our lives to we can share pictures with them in "real time" and add/edit picture playlists on the fly.

I haven't tried a digital picture frame in a very long time. Back when they first started coming out the screens were pretty terrible and they just didn't look like they fit in as a picture frame so I kind of avoided t hem. This frame changed my mind and all the "smart" features just make it a really nice frame for the whole family. Setup was very simple. I downloaded the app and created an account. The hardest part of the whole process was connecting to my WiFi with the onscreen keyboard on the frame. After that, the app found my frame and I was able to compare and verify the serial number displayed and that was it. I was free to upload pictures. The biggest feature for me is the ability to share the frame, though. As I went through the setup process in the app, it took me through steps to share multiple different aspects of the frame too. The fine-grained sharing is pretty nice. You can invite a friend that can send you pictures that you can use on the frame. Or you can share an individual "playlist" with a friend so they can upload and change the playlist in real time. Or you can just invite a friend to the entire frame so they can do anything you can do on your frame from their own account. This is perfect for letting both my wife and I upload pictures and if I wanted to make a dedicated playlist for my friends, I could do that too and switch to that playlist whenever we have them over. It was all pretty smart and intuitive. The uploading process was fine. You can select multiple images and then you have the ability to tweak each one before uploading. So you can crop them to the exact fit for the frame (you can also select fit options for the whole frame) or you can tweak colors and such. Some of the UX was a little clunky but nothing too bad that made it unusable, just a thing here and there that felt a little annoying. The only thing I wish was available was the ability to edit the pictures that are already on the frame. The only way I found to do this was to download the image, delete it and reupload it. This was for some images my wife uploaded in landscape mode, so I wanted to crop them to get the right framing. You have a lot of options for how things display like shuffling photos, only displaying the last 100, 200, 500 or 1000 photos (for some reason, these are literally the only options) and how you want the photos to fit on the frame (you can use Fit Screen to make sure the image always fills up the whole frame without needing to edit every picture). You can also change the timing between pictures. There's a sleep schedule and an activity sensor that's supposed to shut the frame off when no one is around. I've never noticed this happening which I think means it's working? There's a clock you can display as well as selecting which playlist should be played when the frame wakes up. Plenty of options. The only other thing I'd love to see is the ability to customize the transitions. The frame defaults to "random" which is... ok... But the transitions are all so slow they look cheesy. I settles on the pixelated transition because it looks alright but other than that, I was ready to just do a simple cross-fade or cut because the bulk of the transitions available are just really slowly paced. Some way of changing the timing would be great. At the end of the day, though, I really like this frame. It's displayed prominently on our entertainment center. I'm a big fan of the ability to share everything about the frame so granularly and the screen looks great. If you're looking for a nice frame that doesn't just look like a video screen, this one might be for you.

I’ve been looking for a new digital photo frame to replace a significantly older frame I have, and I found a great option in the Nixplay smart photo frame.This smart frame is very modern and sharp looking. You have the option to mount to a wall or stand up on any shelf. You also have the option to display this frame in portrait or landscape position. Out of the box, you need to download the nixplay app from your App Store, plug in the smart frame, & the app will guide you through the set process to connect to your Wi-Fi. Overall the set up process was fairly simple but I did have to go thru the process more than once to find the frame and actually get it to connect to my network. The screen is 10.1” and is absolutely beautiful. The display is very clear and the pictures you send to the smart frame look great! You can also mix in videos if you desire, and they look just as great. How do you get photos/videos to the frame? Just go to the nixplay app, hit add, & select what you want to send to the frame. In seconds, the memories you’ve selected are displaying on your frame. It’s so simple & fast. No need to mess around with memory cards or usb cords or anything difficult at all. What if a loved one has a great photo that you want to display on your frame? You can just as simply have them email the photo to the frame directly! You’ll get a notification in the app that someone emailed a photo, and once you approve, the app/frame do the rest and the picture will display very soon! While I haven’t used this option, there is also connectivity to popular websites/apps such as instagram or google photo, to display photos you may have saved there. With these features, this photo frame would make a great gift for any parent or grandparent, to be able to easily send them all the photos of loved ones they could ever want! With amazing features, ease of use, & great aesthetics, you really can’t go wrong with this choice. I’m so thrilled that I found this frame. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a digital photo frame for your own house or as a gift for someone special!

I had an old digital picture frame from many years ago that required you to hook it up to your computer and manually load pictures onto it. It was slow, low res, had very limited capacity, and was small. The Nixplay Smart Photo Frame is exactly the opposite of that older frame I once had in every way. It is incredibly easy to use, has a vibrant high-res touch screen, and effectively unlimited capacity for photos. Setting it up was easy, you get things up and running on the screen itself by connecting it to Wi-Fi first, then take things from there via the app. After connecting to it, you setup your account, and can select from your phone the photos you wish to sync to the smart photo frame. In one go, you can send up to 100 photos to it, and can add more later. You can customize the transitions, brightness, time to sleep, wake sensitivity, and more in the app. Everything works great, I have had no issues getting it to update when I need to make changes to my settings. When you have things up and running, it just needs to be connected to Wi-Fi to be able to continue to function and it does everything automatically from there. You can set it on the included tabletop stand, or even wall mount it easily. It is nice looking in a simple black frame that blends with any décor. My favorite feature of this smart frame is the fact that via the app you can send invites to anyone you want to allow them to share their pictures to your frame. So, for example family members or friends who may live far away can send pictures to your frame or vice versa if they have one too. It is a wonderful way to keep family memories close without having to do much. The feature works flawlessly, and it will automatically intermix newly received photos with the ones it already has access to. I have shared mine between my wife and I for now for our own family pictures, but I intend to get a smart frame for my parents so they can see pictures of their grandchildren without needing me to keep up with social media. Nixplay has made a wonderful device that is easy to use and makes displaying our family pictures and activities a cinch. It just works and needs very little attention to keep doing what it was meant to. I recommend it and will be getting another one soon.

This is a very nice photo frame. The display quality is actually quite nice, and the touch screen makes adjusting settings quick and easy. Pairing this with a Google account was easy, and you can create a Google photo album (called "frame" in my case), that is automatically synced to the frame over the built-in WiFi. Any changes to your photo album will be automatically downloaded to the frame. Note that I did NOT test this with any iOS or Apple devices, and cannot comment on that experience. But the process was honestly as smooth as I could imagine, and it did not take long for the photos to be downloaded into the internal memory. A stand was included, as well as drywall anchors for wall mounting. A "wall wart" power supply with a barrel jack was included, but it can also be powered using a micro-USB cable, as long as the power supply can provide 2A. Finally, it will automatically adjust between portrait and landscape modes. You simply pick the panel up and rotate it, and the pictures are rotated to match. This is a nice touch, and much easier than having to change menu settings. There are a couple of minor niggles that should be mentioned. The first is that the frame can "only" hold 1,000 pictures. So you get to see the most recent thousand photos in your Google photo album. Older pictures are simply ignored. I understand that memory is limited, but if you want to see pictures going back 10 years, 1,000 might not be enough. A nice feature would be to have a certain percentage of photos (say, 10%) to be deleted every few days and replaces with another random assortment of photos. Still, for many people, this will not be an issue. The other problem is that the stand for holding the frame on the desk could use some improvement. It is fiddly and give you limited angle adjustments. The base also has rubber pads that keep it from sliding, but the frame itself can easily slide sideways off of the base. Some locking tabs to keep it from sliding would have been a nice improvement. But this is also a minor complaint.

I got this picture frame for my own house, but I suspect most people will buy it for a relative so they can send pictures to it remotely. From my experience with it so far, I think it would work great for that. My first question was "do I need the touch screen?" It was handy (and easy) to set it up on my Wifi by typing on the screen, but you can also pause or forward/reverse through the pictures. A person could also tap to "like" a picture on the screen which puts it in the favorites playlist. So, these might be useful features depending on how it's used. The 10.1" screen is a nice size and the display is crisp and clear. The screen resolution, though, is 1280x800 pixels which is a 16:10 ratio. This is a minor irritation, but most photo editors that I use have a pre-configured 16:9 aspect ratio if you're cropping photos to fit in the screen with no borders around them. So using the easy presets, my photos have a little strip above and below the picture when displayed. It's not super annoying, and you also have some options to stretch/fill the photos to the frame while they're playing. The frame does have an "activity sensor" so you can configure it to shut off after 5 minutes (or whatever time frame) when it thinks no one is around. The sensor is described as a "non-recording microphone" so it's totally based on noise that it hears. I have it on my desk and it seems to work pretty well. If I have a phone call or say something it promptly wakes up. It works well to upload pictures (not videos) from a desktop/laptop or from the Nixplay app. Emailing pictures (not videos) also worked by sending to <your_user_ID>@mynixplay.com, and you have to accept the sending email address before the picture attachments will be added to the playlist. I suppose if someone knew your Nixplay ID and what email you used they could spoof your address and send malicious pictures, but that doesn't seem too likely. You can also disable the email playlist if you're worried about it. Using the Nixplay app only, you can upload video clips that are up to 15-seconds long without the premium ("plus") subscription. It does seem to only support JPG and PNG files for the pictures, though, so no animated GIFs. At least I couldn't figure out a way to upload them. On the subscription subject, without the membership you get 15-second videos, 10GB of picture storage, a maximum of 5 playlists and 5 frames, and a 1-yr warranty on the frame. With the "plus" membership you get up to 1-minute videos, 50GB of picture storage, unlimited playlists and 10 frames, and a lifetime warranty on the frame. Right now, it looks like the cost for "plus" is $15 every 3 months or $50 annually.

I bought this as a gift and it was great. It is super easy to use and set up, we were able to load tons of photos right away. I am considering buying another one just for myself!

The Nixplay frame looks very nice. The colors are saturated, and the frame gets sufficiently bright. What holds this frame back is some questionable design choices with the stand and software. The picture frame isn't actually attached to the stand. The frame just leans against a rubberized pad on the stand, and there is a small "groove" that the frame sits in at the edge of the stand. This means that the stand is neither terribly steady, nor is it repositionable. This proved to be a bit of problem for me as I really wanted to angle the frame a little so that it wasn't sitting at such a harsh, upright angle on my side table. The frame doesn't have a light sensor and instead relies on a motion sensor and/or the scheduling tool for turning on and off. The motion sensor works well, but the scheduling tool never seemed to correctly register the time. Despite having set up my time zone in the app, it continues to be about an hour off. I can only assume that it isn't factoring in daylight savings time correctly. Despite having linked the app with my Google Photos account, the frame doesn't appear to have any options to automatically display my Google Photos pictures. This is a bit of a disappointment as you have to manually update the photos available on the frame (or rely on its social media functions to have other people add new photos on your behalf). I was pleased to see that the frame does support short video clips (note: it doesn't recognize the older .AVI format - you have to convert to MP4 first). It also only displays a few seconds of video (so playing a half hour movie isn't going to be an option). It's a nice looking frame. As far as displaying photos goes, it does an excellent job. It's just the stand and software that make this a little "quirky."
