It was ok graphics weren't as good as hoped and gameplay was choppy

Good game but a little too late.. Much better indie games in steam.

Was expecting more from this title. The update did more for the game but still not enough for 5 stars.

It's an ok game. Not the best one out there but my son likes it.

It's a fun game for a while but it was very overhyped. They cut promised features, and the ending is less than impressive. It makes it feel like they poke you in the eye for spending that many hours playing their game. It's a fun rental but a weekend is enough, I don't recommend purchase.

The fundamental gameplay was not deep or rewarding enough for me to stick around and explore many of the planets the game has to offer. With such basic combat and inventory management, it quickly wears thin and I felt like I was dragging myself from system to system in search of Atlas.

If you like exploration of big open world games, this is a good for you based on planet exploration.

I can only speak to the original base game release, but the hype was not justified. If you are thinking about getting into this game you will want to read about the updates that have some out since release. I’ve heard they have made some dramatic improvements.

So there's been a little controversy around this game. Many people's imaginations ran wild and a really excited game developer didn't give concrete enough answers to what the game was about. So what's this game about and what do you do? You explore space, with an almost infinite number of planets that have randomly generated terrain, flora, fauna, atmospheres, and a set number of types of resources. You have three main upgradeable systems in the game: your suit, your multi tool and your ship. You can find/purchase new multi tools and ships throughout the game by exploring or buying from aliens. What do you do? You travel from planet to planet exploring, cataloging and learning about alien lore from three different species. Some planets may look like a vacation in Hawaii while others look like a barren wasteland with a toxic atmosphere. I enjoy this game the most when I need to just relax and unwind. I jump in my ship and find a good planet and wander around finding crashed alien ships, ruins, and stations. You should do yourself a favor and look at some gameplay videos. This game wasn't made by EA, Bungee, or 343 Studios. It was made by a team of around fifteen people. I think if your expectations are in check when going into this game you'll enjoy it.

Enjoyed the exploration but lacks story mode so patience is key !

I like that it is vast and involves exploring, but could use more variation in plants and animal life.

Amazing for about 20 hours of gameplay then you're bored of it.

This game is very beautiful, with a never ending universe to explore. It's a good game to relax with.

my son wanted this game for Christmas and that is all the playing that he did on it. very time consuming with very little action. if you like to explore and search constantly with little result then this is the game for you.

Vast worlds to explore and make your own, but it gets old just traveling about and discovering stuff

This game launched with huge expectations which it couldn't possibly reach, and it didn't, not even close. That said the developer has continued to support the game with new content, and the promise of what that new content might bring is what led me to buy the game. I'll try to update my review after that big patch hits.

Loved the game the first few days. The opening is excellent and amazing but soon after I realized the game is really not that complicated. All the weapons are the same, infinite planets are almost all identical and the ships are all the same. They promised more and delivered less.

Despite all of the bad rumors relating to this game and Hello games, this game is still a great buy. I pre-ordered this game and even though some of the things didn't pan completely out as the developers dreamed, the content alone is still worth the buy. This is still a very original game piece that includes elements that are next-gen. If you like flying solo and you like sci fi games, then you must add this one to your collection.

Its a little slow to get going but it looks to be building.
