Excellent phone for a great price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Love My Nokia 7.2! You don't have to spend a lot of money to get an amazing phone. I personally feel my new Nokia 7.2 exemplifies this perfectly. I've had mine for just over a month or so and here's my take on it. The build quality is solid. The camera is wonderful. The phone is speedy. The display is crisp, and although I wasn't keen on the "notch" for the front-facing camera at first, it doesn't take long to forget it's there. You can't beat the feature set for the price: this beast packs 128GB internal storage AND features a microSD card slot! This phone retains a headphone jack so many other devices have deleted. It has NFC and handles Google Pay without a hitch. Although it doesn't support wireless charging, it does charge rapidly thanks to its USB type-C port. The only real "con" is that finding accessories can be somewhat challenging. No matter - you can get pretty much anything you need online. Thank you Nokia, you've really done a great job!

Solid mid-range phone, but with minor flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this phone for a month before writing this review. I'm a pretty average phone user so I'll only be going over a few things. This is the first Nokia phone I ever used, so here's my experience using the Nokia 7.2 as my daily driver. The Good - The processor is plenty fast. For whatever reason, some Youtubers criticize this phone for having a Snapdragon 660 and claim that it runs slow because of it. To me this phone felt pretty fluid, and multitasking between all the mainstream apps ran just fine (YouTube, Instagram, Chrome, etc.) I don't play any graphic/processor intensive games such as Fortnite so I can't comment on those. But for the average user this phone is more than fast enough. Really, the only time this phone slowed down was when I did a Zoom meeting while switching between multiple apps simultaneously. Instead of slowing down the whole phone, the Zoom app just closed on its own, which I kinda expected since I was running too many apps at once. - The build quality looks and feels amazing! I especially like the matte glass finish on the back which feels much nicer on the hand than a glossy glass finish. I got this phone in green color which makes it stand out a bit more. The Bad - The headphone jack is susceptible to noise. This is upsetting especially since it's hard to find a phone with a headphone jack nowadays. When I'm in my car with my phone charging through the USB cigarette lighter and I have my aux cord plugged in simultaneously, this phone picks up some noise especially as I'm pressing the gas pedal on my car. Even just tapping the touch screen makes a bit of noise. My old phone never had this issue (Sony Xperia XA1). For a brand name manufacturer like Nokia I don't expect this kind of quality control issue, but sadly it has. Luckily, the noise goes away once you start playing music. Also, the noise doesn't occur at all when my phone isn't plugged into my car's cigarette lighter. - Adaptive brightness can be wonky at times. I'm not sure if it's hardware or software that's the issue, but sometimes the backlighting doesn't light up the screen evenly with adaptive brightness turned on. It gets annoying when you're going through different menus and part of the screen lights up while the other part dims down. Why can't the entire screen just brighten up or dim down evenly whenever I'm walking between indoor and outdoor environments??

Good phone, but where is Android 10?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this phone. In general does everything I want pretty well. Camera takes good pictures, lots of storage, doesn't hang. I am a little irritated that the update to Android 10 hasn't happened yet though. Hello HMD, when is this going to happen?

Screen cracks easily
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had many Nokia in the past with windows phones and they were the best quality so i was really excited when i saw the 7.2 with the camera and looked like the same great craftmanship. I purchased the phone outright only 5 days ago and was enjoying it so far until today. I didnt even drop the phone it was in my hand and the corner hit the door jam(soft wood) when i was walking through and the screen completely shattered in the corner and cracked all the way down to the bottom of the screen. I guess they don't make em like they used to because i never had any problems in the past. Contacted Nokia direct and of course they said its not covered in manufacturing warranty and that I have to send the phone in to get repaired. So now i have to be without a phone while it ships and gets fixed. I know you have to be careful with screens but in my opinion this boils down to cheap product. Shame to because i was really excited about this phone.

Textbook example of planned obsolescence
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone has a very obvious expiration date and it is exactly one year. If you need a phone to last and function fine for a year, then it's a decent phone. But since you're looking at a ~200-300$ my guess is you're not looking to shell out too much money. It started with the batter lasting 48 hours and all the apps running smoothly. However a year later, the batter can't handle 4 hours of continuous use. Worse of all, it won't charge fully to 100% overnight... 8 hours might get it up to 50% if lucky. The applications hang, the phone freezes constantly, resulting in a black screen or a frozen google assistant screen. Then the camera... while the quality of the camera is good the software is also designed to malfunction. A year into daily use, it often hangs and doesn't open. If you're looking for a reliable budget smartphone, my suggestion is to consider a Moto phone. My last one lasted almost 3 years of daily use until one of the buttons broke. I am considering fixing it and going back to it instead of struggling with this garbage. If you're shopping with a budget in mind, then avoid this phone at all costs.

Good Enough
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good phone for price. Large enough screen. Not listed as fast charge thought it does charge quickly. Battery is excellent. Finger print sensor very good. Screen is resilient and wipes clean very easily. Easy to delete or turn off unneeded apps. The clear case on this site is one of the best I have seen as it cushions phone and has a very positive grip. If this was used as a backup phone you would probably not mind using it all the time.

Disapointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would not recommend purchasing this phone. I bought this in early August. Started having issues with random shutdowns by the end of the month. Nokia's response was to start in safe mode. Did this for a day and it seemed to work for a few weeks. Would still get random shut downs but there not too frequent until Oct. They started happening a lot then and Nokia's response was to do a hard reset. That seems to have worked. The phone is pretty laggy. I am coming from a Moto 4gplus and I think this Nokia is slower. The camera sometimes takes a while to open. When rotating the phone, there is often considerable lag. Finally, when using it as a phone, my ear seems to trigger then notifications menu frequently. Not sure if this the case with all phones that have tiny bezels but it's annoying. The camera is really nice but other than that, there's not too much I like about this phone. If given the chance, I would have purchased a different phone.

I regret buying this phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I normally purchase inexpensive LG phones, which have served me well, but when I saw this phone, I loved the idea of getting a Nokia again. The cost is significantly higher than the LG phones but I expected it to be a better phone with long term updates, and that green case was beautiful in the store. Fast forward two months, I would wake up and find that the phone had shut off. I finally caught it while I was awake and the phone was cool, but just shut off out of the blue while charging. HMD Global/Nokia "support" sent me to a battery setting that doesn't exist on this phone, and when I told them I don't have that setting, told me to just reset my phone. Did this, and it shut down within days. Go forward to 4 months of owning this phone, the power button rarely works. I can't use it for screenshots or the camera shortcut. I usually just have to wait for the screen to turn off because I can't click the button. Contacted "support" again. This time they said I just need to mail them my phone, no time frame of how long it will be there. So I'm expected to buy a new phone if I want to keep my one source of communication, and just give them this one. When it worked, it was a nice enough phone, although somewhat laggy, requiring restarts every day or two. But 2 months of use for several hundred dollars is unacceptable. On top of that, the promised updates are nowhere in sight. I got a security update back in January. Android 10 has fallen off the radar, which was why I chose this phone as well. I should've stuck with LG, which has always worked reliably, and for half the price. This phone is absolutely a terrible buy. You might luck out and not have issues, but if you do, don't expect a solution. This is NOT the Nokia of the past, and I will never buy Nokia again.

Worked well for the first seven months, then...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd recommend avoiding Nokia. Last year, my Nokia 3.1 started failing - I thought I'd overloaded it despite entering a memory card (it wouldn't let you reassign things to the SD card). I was convinced that I'd simply bought a decent cheap phone that wasn't able to do what I asked of it. Hoping Nokia could make a comeback in a world dominated by Apple (which I tried and hated) and Samsung (with which I've had good experiences), nine months ago, I bought a Nokia 7.2. Just like the 3.1, around the 8 month point, my 7.2 stuttered badly. Soon, it increasingly did the bizarre, like the screen coming on without my touching it, or the phone turning off while in use. Then the notifications menu would drop down from the top (making texting fun), going up and down and up and down until it decided to stop. A few times, the apps menu has sprung up from the bottom. The orientation would flip between landscape and portrait until it got tired or whatever. I won't go on. Many more issues. If this phone doesn't become entirely useless before my new Samsung S20 arrives (in 3-4 days), it may become embedded in a wall or shattered on the floor or pavement, it's so frustrating. Even more frustrating is Nokia customer care which, like their phones, receives a failing grade. Having spent a total of around 4 hours (almost all on the 7.2 - I gave up on the 3.1 fairly quickly) on the phone or 'chatting', plus sending a few e-mails (trying to be the squeaky wheel to at least make them live up to their one year warranty). I was never able to get anything more than a vague 'send it in and we'll repair or replace in 4-6 weeks.' Their reps are clearly not trained (they read from a script) or paid enough to care. Asking for a manager, I think they pass you to a neighbor or a colleague. There were a few times I was told 'we're really busy, could you write down all your issues and send them to us', twice after I'd stated all the issues. One of the questions they kept asking me is "what have you done?", an ambiguously unhelpful question. I wanted Nokia to rebound. But they, as a company, (not just my 3.1) clearly aren't up to the task.
