Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 graphics card's performance, price, and cooling capabilities, with many praising its ability to deliver high frame rates at 1440p resolution. They also appreciate the card's compact size and quiet operation. However, some customers express reservations about the 12-pin power connector and the lack of RGB lighting. Like anyone who has this card, it took months of watching Best Buy's site, but I finally snagged one. Inconvenient wait aside, once you receive your 3070 your life will be changed forever. My PC is used daily for autocad and nightly for gaming. This card speeds up both of those tremendously. I'm happy to report with an I5-9600K and 32GB of ram this card pushes 120-200FPS in pretty much any game I play at 1440p. The only exception is MSFS2020 which brings even the mightest PC to its knees. As for other performance, this card stays cool and the fans on it are very quiet. I really like that NVIDIA included fan stop on their founders card, and most times when using autocad the fans aren't even spinning. Previously I used to purchase MSI Gaming X cards to get this feature, but those come with a ton of annoying RGB. In fact monitoring with GPUz reveals that even playing Halo 4 at the highest settings the fans are 0 RPM with no need to run at all! Under a more demanding game like BL3 the fans do kick up in speed but they keep this card cooled well under it's thermal limit without making a ton of noise. If you are looking for next gen performance, quiet fans, and no RGB this is the ultimate card for you

This card is absolutely stunning for someone who never had anything remotely this good. Once the FSR patches came out for cyberpunk this card really kept impressing me. It runs quite cool, very quiet. Maybe around 65-75C under full load.

I have this on a computer w/a 1080p monitor which is very reliant on the quality of your processor but the graphics card helps a lot. Haven't found anything that can't be run at 60+ frames per second so far on ultra settings. It seems to run a bit warmer and louder than my RTX 3080 from Asus that I have in another computer. With all of the graphics card shenanigans and prices, I am 100% satisfied with an FE model with some meh cooling over another manufacturer to stay in the realm of realistic and acceptable MSRP prices.

Somehow managed to snag this card for MSRP and am amazed, it runs like a dream. Definitely an extreme upgrade from my partner's gtx 1060, which was on its last leg (he runs programs like substance designer, meshroom, and blender for his job--smooth as butter!). Other than its great functionality, it's very very quiet and looks absolutely gorgeous! No RGB though, which I honestly don't mind. Wishing all scalpers and bots a very "Something Went Wrong" error when adding this to the cart. Everyone else, good luck!

An honestly great card and replacement for an aging gtx980. The scarcity during the 2020-2022 dark times was frustrating and current pricing of new cards is terrible. But when you find a good deal (which was MSRP on this card) you have to go for it.

I was astounded at how much performance a small GPU like this could give. It never struggles to surpass 60 FPS. While gaming it maintains temps less than 45 C, and I don't even hear the GPU. I love the look of the FE GPU's and love the price as well.

Great price to performance cars that allows for amazing 1440p performance and some 4k gaming. RTX is also a treat with games like Minecraft and Control. Runs quiet and design is beautiful. Only problem is stock is very limited and hard to find.

Full disclaimer, my personal systems are all AMD based. That being said, I am a sucker for FE/Reference cards. When I saw these, I wanted one purely on visuals. Yes, I knew they'd be great performers and I knew that the generational leap was going to be fairly large from the RTX 2070 to 3070. When I finally got the option to "add to cart" I jumped on it. "why should I choose nvidia over amd?" Well, the nvenc encoders are the standard for anyone wanting to stream and game at the same time and minimal impact on performance and keeping the CPU free to do it's own tasks. The RT cores are more mature than AMDs right now, as this is Nvidia's 2nd generation. And their Tensor cores are utilized for DLSS, which works in tandem with the RT cores to downscale and image, add all the visual features, then upscale them back up to the preferred resolution. I'm likely explaining it wrong, so the TL;DR of it is you need DLSS to have an enjoyable experience with Ray Tracing. Head to head, the 3070 isn't as strong in neutral titles as the RX 6800. When a game favors Nvidia, it will beat or get closer. When it favors AMD, no chance this card wins. But what we've seen is that Nvidia cards scale better at higher resolutions than AMD cards. So if you're trying to do 4k gaming, this will have a better chance at surpassing the RX 6800. I ended up buying this and loaning to a friend as they were milking a GTX 1070 for all it could handle. Aesthetically speaking, I love this card. I don't like the proprietary pci-e adapter and placement as it makes clean builds more difficult. I like the cooler design. I believe this still uses regular GDDR6 and not 6X, so memory heating issues shouldn't be prevalent. One thing I dislike, is that there is no customization for fan curves, power draw, memory speeds native to Nvidia software. You'd have to download another app to customize your card. That being said, it operates just fine as a plug and play card.

Excellent graphics card if you can get your hands on it. I was lucky enough to get mine on release day through the mobile app, and Best Buy seemed to have some authentication on their side to confirm I wasn't a bot, so props to them. The setup has been great, no issues. I just slotted it in and downloaded the drivers, and it has been running perfectly. I've not tried any overclocking yet, but at stock it runs almost silent under load and isn't thermal throttling. The performance improvement is great compared to the last generation 2070 Super and is about on par with the 2080 ti. Even if the Radeon RX 6800 beats this in performance, it's $80 less for what I expect will be a much better cooling solution, and this is maxing out my 1440p 165hz monitor in all the games I play anyway.

Absolutely destroys any previous gen GPU for the price point. I couldn’t have asked for a better graphics card. The purchasing of this card was fairly easy. All you need to do to guarantee a card is sit online 24/7 with about 5 people and different addresses and credit cards in attempt to grab one in your cart if by chance they ever come in stock again. I would definitely recommend this card to anybody who can afford it. Fits perfectly inside an MATX and an ATX case for sure, don’t know about anything else. It does include the 8->12 pin adapter that of course has to make your build look beautifully ruined! :) so be sure to grab some more custom cables to match unless you like the huge adapter required. In all seriousness this graphics card is great and worth any sacrifice.

Having this card for a month now I feel I can give it a decent review. It performs well, takes up little space for new age card, and stays fairly cool. I run MSFS2020 at the highest setting and hover around 50 fps.

This card looks and performs super well. The FE's are obviously the best value given their non inflated prices. Runs very quiet and handles most games at max or near max settings. Also love that it isn't huge.

An amazing graphics card especially at its price point. It is actually obtainable from BestBuy because of the antibot systems actually working. The design is great with no RGB although the placement of the 12 pin power connector is terrible and you have to use an adapter which makes cable management very hard. But overall especially at its price, it is amazing. I use it for 1440p 144Hz (so 1080p will be a breeze) but with its performance I bet you can do pretty good playing at 4k but because it has HDMI 2.1 you can do some stuff in 8k but don't expect to be able to properly game at 8k. The cooler design is very effective at keeping temps low but also silent. This card is probably over 2 times better than my old 2070.

A little better version of the 3060ti

I originally had the 3060ti and while that card is only about 10% weaker than this one in most metrics it felt that at 1440p it couldn't pull its weight quite like this 3070. This card does really well when you undervolt and keep the overclock (a lot like how you handle Ryzen 5000 overclocking) and I'm getting a steady 150+ FPS at 1440p in Warzone using low-normal settings. It does tend to get warm though (74-76c) compared to the 3060ti (normally in the 69-70c range) due to higher power limit of 240W compared to 220W. Right now though if you get one at $500 it is an absolute no brainer compared to partner cards that are 20-30% higher cost at a minimum for 2-3% potential gain.

Coming from a 1070, this card was a clear upgrade (especially in 1440p). I run competitive games (warzone, apex, etc.) at +120 fps on ultra settings at 1440p while playing graphically-intensive singleplayer games (rdr2, Cyberpunk 2077) at +60 fps on 1440p. Aesthetically, the minimalistic design of the 3070 Founders Edition arguably looks way better when compared to the AIB cards. However, actually buying the card has been the most frustrating part, although Best Buy's queue system proved to be more effective than my futile attempts on other websites. Overall, it is a great card and well worth the $500 dollars. Good luck to those who get one at MSRP!
