Unsatisfied
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this strictly to sidelaod Kodi. Was disappointed from the get go with this machine. The controller buttons were sticky, honestly un usable. Returned and bought a FireTV instead. A third of the price and easier usability.

Good.....when it works.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried this unit 3 times. Android tv is still way too buggy and one of the units the controller would not work. I will stick with Apple TV and Roku for streaming and steam box for games.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a good concept. I did my research before spending $300 on this. Unfortunately it didn't come in a package of my favor. Unlike most people I like macs and PC's, I use one for gaming the other for music and work. When trying to stream a game from my pic with an nvidia gtx-950 OC GPU it was slower than Christmas. And since I use and iPhone and already have a 4K Samsung smart TV; there ultimately was no use for this device. It was cool, but sooooo very limited. The money for such a device gives in no worth to invest in.

DOA
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd change the rating if the one I got wasn't DOA. I didn't really get a chance to see how good this would be. It turns on, power button un-responsive, no video display, so depressing.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was great while it lasted but for 220 bucks it only lasted a month and a half before it broke down

Device is great, Android TV kind of stinks.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lots and lots of android apps aren't available without custom roms. That stinks. This is way crippled with Android TV.

2 Years and its dead
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my nvidia shield pro April 2016. And July 2018 its dead. No power, no lights and no warranty. Nvidia support could offer very little in terms of troubleshooting. But they were very clear on the 1 year warranty. I would expect these devices to have at least a 3yr life span. Now to dust off my Amazon fire TV and chromcast

Amazing Streaming / Gaming machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned the NVIDIA Shield Pro for close to a year. This is one of the best investments and most durable media devices I have ever owned. The 4K capability combined with the vast library of movies, music, games and other types of media is second to none. The ability to stream games from my PC without lag is a huge plus! I plugged in a usb gaming keyboard and mouse and play some incredible sessions of battlefield 4 and COD streaming off my PC to my 4K 60" flatscreen! Also for $8.00/month you can subscribe to an ever growing library of awesome AAA game titles! This is the best value in the gaming industry! What are you waiting for? Buy it now!

Wow this box rocks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hi I am not going to complain about what this box will not do. I read the reviews before I purchase this.I knew its limits and was OK with them. Now for what this box will do. It streams better than any device I have had. And I have had or tried most of them.I was using the matricom q and the amazon fire TV. The shield make's them look like child's play. The picture quality is second to none. The WiFi is better by far and no need to hard wire it. I gave up on sling TV because of drop and freezing channels but the shield streams this flawless. Kodi works like a charm on the shield. I was even able to find a hidden browser on here. The controller toggle sticks sometimes but it not a big problem. You don't need a remote the controller works fine and has voice search. I did purchase a remote today for the lady of the house but you can save the $50 if you want to. I wanted the 16 gig but no bestbuy had one within a 100 miles so I bit the bullet and bought the pro. Did I need it no but I hate having to wait for and order. Now that the wife has gotten over the shock of the price and she didn't kill me I think I will push my luck and get one for the bedroom.

Not worth.the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gaming system is not up to Snuff you need high-speed internet for it to work properly unfortunately around my area there's not enough speed to make it function properly and then you need to subscribe to the gaming Network which is free for the first three months and then after that it's 899 I wouldn't recommend buying this system because that worked all the bugs out of it I also the system turns on with my other Bluetooth receivers in the house just about anytime I turn on my PS4 or Xbox 360 which is ridiculous

Posted .Hi "Jackel3",
It is unfortunate that the internet in your area is not very fast yet. Internet speeds are increasing very rapidly around the US, so hopefully this will change for you soon. In the meantime, SHIELD also has hundreds of Android games that you can play locally without requiring a fast internet connection.

Awesome product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Paired with my 65UB9200 LG 4k TV and it works awesome. It runs smoother and quicker when loading netflix and hulu plus. I have the CEC-hdmi enabled, so I can use the LG remote to navigate thru the Shield without having to purchase that ridiculously expensive remote ($50). I'm GLAD they included the controller instead, because when you enable CEC on most TVs, it takes care of the "basic" features. Tried grid gaming, and that was fine. Gamestreaming was a bit laggy, but I need to hardwire my PC first. The wireless on the device is one of the strongest I have used. I have an apple extreme(latest AC) and my upgrade took less than 2 minutes to download and install. I should have gotten the 16 GB model and added in my own hard drive, but didn't want to go thru the hassle. Used a keyboard and mouse that were bluetooth and it worked great. I'm sure with future updates they will take care of the lag. Nvidia has been great at helping me fix a game stream login issue.

Great product, Android tv just ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very fast. Great for Kodi. Android TV is limiting and no proper web browser. Emulators(Nes.emu, Pce.emu) will work with side loaded apks but no ability to stop or force stop. Maybe the paid Google apps work better than these. Netflix is awesome and available in 4k. No Amazon prime yet. I also own a Shield portable so the game service works as it should. All functions can be controlled by the controller(including volume) so the remote is optional, but it was free on Black Friday.

Very Good Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far I have been very happy with the purchase of the shield. It's very fast and the game controller works well. I also purchased the stand and the remote was included. Can't wait for Nvidia to update the shield to Android 6.0. Thanks

Capable but expensive media player.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the NVIDIA Shield to replace a WD TV media player that has been dying on me. The unit works well, but takes some setup as there is no native media player app on the unit (at least not one designed to work with a home media server). I started by using Plex, but had problems with it (would not display cover art, for instance). Ultimately, I found Kodi, which works, but is still far from perfect as it only lists the files on my media server and does not display the cover art. Given that I did not have that option with my WD TV, however, I suppose it really is not that big of a deal. I have divx, mp4, mov, and other files, and the Shield can display them all, which is great. I have not played around with HEVC (H.265) files yet, but that is my next project. We'll see how it goes. I bought the Pro version, which was a waste of $100 as I do not need the onboard storage. There are less expensive options out there... Not many play HEVC files, though. I do not play games on it either... That is why I have an Xbox One.

Fantastic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this product sooooo much my wife and I are giving them as Christmas Gifts. We bought 6 of them. There are apps that you won't be able to install directly from the Shield but if you go on your computer to the Google play store you will be able to install it once you pick your shield. If not download the apk file from the Internet and install it on a flash drive and then connect it to the shield. You can do many thing with the Shield TV like, watch Netflix, Hulu Plus, play Other games through emulators. Install kodi. Read books. Play music. Do a search by voice. Would I recommend the Shield TV. Yes. Yes. Yes
