I have updated my review after Nvidia made it right. Android TV is the way to go. Specs are great and I love the box.

The Apple TV 4K is better . Better picture in 4K . The shield better in all other aspects. Couple things no hdr YouTube and no Dolby vision make the shield needing another overhaul . If 4K movie is your thing .get the Apple 4K tv

A truly amazing product! You won't regret your purchase!

I purchased the NVIDIA PRO version (i.e. with internal 500Gb instead of 16Gb) of this product about 5 months ago. It is indeed a very powerful streaming/gaming device and everything will go well till you get your first mandatory software (called shield-experience) update. My device was working properly till Shield-Experience (SE) update 7.2, that was released 2 weeks ago. The update is full of bugs affecting thousands shield owners world-wide (just check the GeForce forums). I'm one the victims: my Nvidia Shield PRO does not boot any more, it is broken after the update 7.2. I contacted Nvidia support to solve the problem. In the beginning they instruct me on how to factory-reset the device (and erase all my data !) but it didn't work. My device was totally bricked !!! Next step they offered to replace the broken Nvidia SATv by a new one, and in principle I was happy with that solution: What a disappointment: instead of sending a brand-new replacement device, I got a shabby refurbished Nvidia SATv full of scratches and clearly misused by the previous owner. I bought the most expensive edition of the Nvidia SATv PRO device, and kept it in pristine conditions.The device is broken because of Nvidia's careless software-release methodology. Please send me a brand-new device. It is just not fair that I get stuck with a refurbished subpar device I'm very disappointed with Nvidia Support.

I had been eyeing up getting a PS4 Pro or a Xbox One X to add to my Living Room entertainment set. I already have a Shield in my Living Room so I knew what I was going to experience. Weighing out the cost differences I went with another Shield TV. Obviously I am not disappointed. I can stream my PC games to it, use it as a media hub, and watch all the Cat Videos in the world on it. It is an amazing piece of tech. 4K output as well. I am set for a while...highly recommend this little guy!

This is the best android streaming device to own and its one of fastest streaming device in the market.

After doing a lot of research online for the best TV box....Nvidia Shield is hands down the best. Has awesome specs and very powerful. You have already cut the cord but do yourself a favor get the shield! its a small investment after all those years of paying cable/sat bills shouldn't be a problem buying one.

I wanna gnna get apple tv 4k but I convinced myself to try this shield and i hate it it slow remote sucks doesnt work good am returning it tomorrow

I have tried them all Asus Roku they still sell abandoned by company. Wd live abandoned by company. I have a 30 terabyte nas server i watch all the time. Roku you have to have missed behaves flex. This is it I will play anything still supported by nvidia plays a lot of live TV. It a little high but it works

I do not know what I would do without my Shield TV. It is leaps and bounds better than anything else on the market. It allows me to run a full Plex Server directly from it without having to have a dedicated computer. No other media streamer has that functionality.

I use it for watching TV and I have several other brands of Android TV Box and it's hands down by far the best you can buy and worth the money. I use it to watch YouTube TV and it works awesome.

I have large 4K and 1080p files I play from my external hard drive and every app I tried, Kodi, MX Player and VLC, had the audio out of sync with the video after awhile. I chose bitstreaming in the settings of the Shield as well as within the apps and only one app actually sent the HD audio codecs to my receiver, but the other two didn't. This is great for people who don't have smart TVs and those who mainly stream from online sources. However, those who are into lossless, high bitrate video and audio will be inevitably disappointed! I will go back to viewing movies from my external HDDs on my HTPCs without all of these problems.

Very happy with this since May 2018. Planning to buy the Pro version this week.

Wanted to switch from pc plex server to the built in plex server on the shield with a attached USB hard drive . Once set up tried to play some videos . Half worked , the other half said unsupported file, even though the same files played fine on the pc plex server . I'm sure there is some work around but I'm not in the market to tinker . I'm sure this is a fine media steamer for netflix etc, just didn't work for me for a plex server

Unfortunately I absolutely hate this streaming box, I installed the Shield and immediately my Amazon Prime Video and Hulu would not stream (even though I was connected to a 350mbs down Ethernet connection). I tried to troubleshoot - I own pretty much every streaming box so I know what to do (ATV, Roku, FireTV) and nothing worked - I tried the factory reset which was suggested on web (unsuccessful), I contacted NVidia support - absolutely no help came my way. This box is going back as I truly hate that I just wasted the last several days trying very hard to make it work. For the price that this box goes for in comparison to my Roku 4K stick which works so perfectly - I am shocked that I have had such extreme issues with the box. So sad as I had a lot of hope!

This thing was great when it worked. But like most stuff, the AppleTV works great 5yrs later, and this Android bricked after 16months. One day it would never wake from sleep. I unplugged it for a week, plugged it back in, still nothing. No way to hard reset because it's junk. Brick Junk
