A great game for anyone looking for a classic RPG adventure with all of the wonderful graphics of modern games. A classic twist on visuals with updated pixel graphics and effects mimicking real life (snow, wind and dust, moving water). Battle mechanics keep it interesting and making you want come back and play more. The story is a little lacking, as the eight characters don't have any cohesion between them, but the eight individual stores are fun and complete.

I loved the old Final Fantasy games for Gameboy and Super Nintendo, and it is reminiscent of those top down games. The game looks and plays like FF2 or FF3, but the quests, environments, and sounds are kicked up to 11. Starts off slow while going through all the different character stories, but you will soon come to love this game for it's iconic Final Fantasy play that you use to love. If you loved those older Final Fantasy games, then this is a must own title.

If you're familiar with the Square games from the early to mid 90's. This game is for you. This style really captures the essence of those classic Square titles. All while keeping the game play basic and familiar that you'll forget that you're playing a game made today. No spoilers here but there is tons of material to get through and it will lead to hours and hours of game play as possible. And, that is a good thing.

Square-Enix has managed to create a Switch Exclusive RPG that has the charm of the 16 bit era (SNES) and manages to bring it into 2018 with a visual style and artistry that makes you wonder why this wasn't done sooner. They are calling it a 2.5 D engine. The characters are 2D but move in a 3D world and map. Octopath Travel allows you to play 8 different characters, each with their own story and skills. this game stands out as a Switch highlight in 2018.

What are the best parts about this game is that you have several stories to play. All stories are different but they connect in someway. The combat system is a great old fashion way of playing this game

This is a good old school RPG. Like SNES era. I just wish it had a single more cohesive story I guess. Instead it switches between 8 different stories. Overall the gameplay, graphics, and music are great though.

    Perfect 90s JRPG

Octopath reminds me a lot of 90s JRPGs like Suikoden or Chrono Trigger, where you gather a large party to complete the path of the story. In this case it's presented in a 2.5D style with 2D Sprites wandering and doing battle in 3D spaces, which reminds me of games like Xenogears and Wild Arms. Basically a must play for 90s RPG kids who want to go back to their childhood.

Octopath Traveler is a must play for anyone who enjoys turn based games, or anyone looking to get into them. Your party in the game is composed of 4 character (pretty standard) and you can choose form any of the 8 characters in the game, whom all have different skills and abilities. Not only is the game-play excellent, but each of the character's stories are very memorable (okay except for one of them, but that's just my opinion).
