This is a traditional JRPG in every sense. It is a fantastic love letter to the old school RPG fan. The combat is fantastic and is actually fairly deep when you really start playing with it. The story is a little lackluster but it could of been a lot worse. If you love the old Final Fantasy games or any of the 8 and 16 bit rpg games of the SNES this game was made for you. You will not regret your purchase.

This game is everything I wanted from a throwback jrpg. Great music, story, and graphics.

All I can say is this game is more than worth every penny it's being priced at. This is a complete game, no dlc or season passes planned at all, and there is a lot of content in this game, and I mean a LOT. I seriously suggest buying this game if you own a Switch, I cannot stress that enough. Even if you don't own a Switch I suggest buying one for this game if you are a huge RPG fan, it really is worth it.

This game is a tremendous recreation of SNES or NES style RPGs. In recent times, I have found RPGs have way too many systems to understand, this is pick up and play. The eight different characters have stories that weave in and out from one another and thus each can be played independently of the others. This makes it easier to play in small bursts here and there. The style and art are tremendous as well.

The music, combat, and art of this game makes it feel like the classic final fantasies.

Wow, I love this game! I've been playing role-playing games since the NES. Sometimes i just want to grind enemies and get my team super OP so we just destroy. This games allows for that, perfect game for the Switch. I can mindlessly grind in handheld mode while I watch a show. I recommend it for sure. I'm 60 hours in and still loving it.

I really like this game, it has an old school feel to it but also has a lot of things that make it feel new and refreshed. My only complaint is that even thought you meet and join up with new characters, it never feels like a gang of misfits thrown together for one great cause like in a lot of RPGs. It's more like they have their own objectives and working together is just a means to their own end.

This is a must have game for the Switch if you’re a turn based rpg fanatic. Hours of fun and addictive gameplay. This is what people still want and it shows in game sales. Such a lovely game graphic wise even though it’s based on 16 bit graphics but it also has lovely 3D stylish backdrops. A masterpiece of a game. Do yourself a favor and buy this now if you enjoy a good rpg. You won’t regret it.

Great Story! Great Graphic! Great Battles! This is the best RPG for Switch!

If you’re a fan of pre-Final Fantasy 7 Turn based JRPG games then you’re in for a real treat. It innovates in all the right ways without losing the spirit of the genre, and it feels like an old classic despite being new. The stories are a bit cliche, but it doesn’t dertract from the fun while the gameplay is welcoming to newcomers yet challenging for veterans of the genre. Great game!

Awesome game. Really brings back the old RPG feel. I played this when it was the wife's turn to drive and when it was my turn to drive she played the Harvest Moon game for switch. We both LOVED our time to play both ways. The leveling system is great and I has required a little grinding. I also died once by taking a wrong turn and that is missing on some games these days. I enjoyed the loss.

JRPG for fans of older Final Fantasy games. love the graphics and music.

This game is fantastic. If you grew up playing old school JRPG then you will feel right at home and know exactly what to expect. You will have to grind for levels, but the combat has an amazing system. The ability to customize each character with different jobs has so much potential you will spend hours trying different combinations. Highly recorded to anyone who misses that old JRPG feel.

You can start the game with any character, homage to the old style SNES RPGs like Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger. The gameplay and combat is very good, hand drawn levels are beautiful. You can download the Demo from the Nintendo Store for free, try it and see for yourself. If you are a fan of those games this is a must. For the little ones might be boring.

I bought this after playing the 3 hour demo, and have packed in a ton more hours on top of that. The mechanics, sound, and graphics of the game blew me away and immersed me into their amazing world they built. Unfortunately the story does not hold up as the eight individual stories are generic and at times annoying. While certain characters were engaging the overall storyline did not work for me, and I found myself skipping a lot of the scenes. I would suggest skipping all 8 intro chapters and reading the journal to see if you like the storyline before jumping in head first. Still worth your time for every other aspect of this engaging JRPG.

Absolutely fantastic JRPG game, great music, great combat, great art style

This game is the total package. No need for day-one DLC here, it's a classically styled, well written, carefully balanced adventure that harkens back to days gone by where games were only released once they were finished! The music is fantastic and the characters are engaging. Itching for a Earthbound or Final Fantasy VI quality RPG? This is the one!
