Octopath Traveler received rave reviews when it came out, and though I was late in getting it, I found it totally lived up to the hype. This is a classic JRPG with all the tropes and modes you expect, but with a lot of modern features. The graphics are great, combining that old-school 8-bit look with textured, almost painted backgrounds.

All the reviews on YouTube put in better words how great this game is better than I ever could. I bought this game discounted because of my Gamer's Club membership, and I wish I had paid full price. If you like JRPGs, buy this game. If you don't like JRPGs, download the Prologue Demo, play it, and decide for yourself. But I bet you'll end up buying it.

Great visuals, great stories, great caracters but would have liked a better way of telling the stories and how to cross it. Like the sonic adventure franchise.

This is a beautiful love letter from Square Enix to the classic Japanese RPGs of the SNES and PSOne era. If you have any interest in this game, buy it, it’s phenomenal. Great storytelling and characters, addictive combat, and fine voice acting that brings it all to life. Hours and hours of gameplay, you will fall in love with this magical game.

Square Enix old school jrpg. I love it, I'm 30 yo

This game, in my opinion is excellent. The game follows eight characters each with their own story. I found each charactes story unique and interesting in it's own way. Combat, which is a fresh take on old-school turn-based combat, is very rewarding and challenging at times. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of old school jrpgs.

Bought the Nintendo Switch just for the sake of being able to play Octopath Traveler and it's been a blast. Besides having a nostalgia factor for SNES era RPGs, this game proves again, that you don't need top notch graphics, if your game is well made and interesting. I'm already over 100 hours in into the game and still enjoying it.

This is a fantastic RPG that was a ton of fun to play through. The combat mechanics are a joy to use and the graphic style never fails to look stunning, especially the 2D enemy sprites during battles. There is definitely some room for improvement (the thin story for instance) but overall I would recommend this game to RPG fans.

If you love RPGs, don’t let this pass you by. In short: it’s like a cross between the Bravely Default games and the Romancing Saga games. There is NO overarching main story. Each character has their own individual story. Be sure to keep an eye out for the + icon while playing as it gives interaction scenes between characters!

This game allows you to pick 1 of 8 characters that have a different ability inside AND outside of combat. Once you go through your characters intro, you can enlist all or any of the others. I've been playing for over 12 hours and I cannot put it down. I love this game!

i recommend this to all, great grafics and great history

I wasn't too impressed when I first saw this games reveal and played the first demo. But after Square Enix said they were going to take fans criticisms seriously, they pulled it off to make a great, old-school JRPG that reminds me of the SNES Final Fantasy games. This game is also a big time sink, so be prepared to invest up to 100 hours.

I love the graphics and gameplay and have been enjoying it quite a bit, but the piece I enjoy most? NO DLC OR MICROTRANSACTIONS!!! It's a wonderful surprise that a game would actually be released as a full game and not parts of a game. Thank you Square Enix for rewarding my loyalty by delivering me a beautiful and complete product!!

This is a great JRPG style game with 8 short stories. Each one with multiple chapters for each character and 40+ hrs total. All I can say is I am loving the throwback to this RPG and I hope there is more where this came from. If you like older RPG games this will be what you been waiting for.great music too.

Fun game, great battle system... no story. The characters never really interact leaving a somewhat hollow experience playing through with all of them.
