Octopath Traveller is one of the best JRPGs I’ve played this year! The fact that’s on the switch makes it even better because I don’t have to really stop what I’m doing to play. It also has frequent save points, so it makes it fantastic for those short play sessions.

If your an old school RPG gamer, this is the right game for you. Not only it has traditional turn taking fights, it has different stories for each character to dive into. A 5 star game with over 70 hours of game play. I enjoyed this game from beginning to end.

The story is sooooo good on this game you can play w some many characters and there’s so much to do very beautiful design for the game if you’re a fan of rpgs this will be right up your alley

Turn-based combat, random encounters, and grinding. Basically, everything that the old-school JRPGs had. The different abilities of each party members makes it tough to decide which ones you want to have in your party at any time, because they're all so dang good!

I would probably not have gotten this game if I did not try out either demo. This game has excellent music, art design, and gameplay mechanics. You could easily put in 80-100 hours to finish the game, and more to 100%. Definitely a gem if you're a JRPG fan!

This game is a throwback to the Super Nintendo RPGS from the 90s. The combat however is much more updated and kinda reminds me of Final Fantasy X. I have played it about 25 hours so far and I am absolutely loving it. I highly recommend if you like old school RPGS.

I really like it so far. Gives me classic Final Fantasy vibes. Easy to understand and I don’t feel like it’s too complex, but like every RPG there’s a lot of story and text. Not a quick game by any means, but if you’re into that, pick this one up. It’s worth it.

The graphics are lovely to look at with their choice of using HD-2D. This gives the game a nostalgic look while at the same time looking like a pop-up story book. I do wish the eight stories interacted more beyond the travel banter, but overall, very enjoyable.

Despite them not really interacting with each other asides from small party banters, its really a lovely story. Each character with their own quirk. I really enjoyed just playing it in short quick intervals... That some ended up being 60 hours in two weeks...

Octopath Traveler is an RPG designed for fans of 16-bit and 32-bit era RPGs. The combat is exquisite, and is the star of the game. It makes grinding for hours fly by in a blink of an eye. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the story. You have eight main characters who have their own storylines, that for whatever reason don't ever intersect. While you're playing through a character's story, the other characters are just bystanders.

I didn't know I wanted this game, My kid got it for himself. Then I played it, i'm hooked. If you love the old turn based RPG's from the super Nintendo days like secret of mana, then this is for you. I love it. Its like i'm back in middle school again.

I like the game. The visuals are unique. The store and characters are interesting but I wish they merged together better. I find the combat a little to simple, and I wish the equipping menu was designed better. My last gripe is that the text is just too small; I constantly have to use the zoom feature just to play. I’m still glad I got it, but that might be because I got it on sale.

It's about time that Square put out a decent RPG. Final Fantasy has been a little non-traditional (and action oriented) lately, so for them to release this gem feels like they are getting back on track to what made them famous originally.

On a classic jrpg formula. This tale covers 8 different stories with a fantastic take on the turn-based battle system. I wish the stories intertwined into something epic towards the end but it’s more like individual tales but that’s not a bad thing.

One of the best looking games I’ve played in a while. It has such a refreshing art style. Very reminiscent of older RPGs. Game is pretty difficult so would only recommend if you are used to difficult turn based RPGs.

This game is incredible - a must-have for any JRPG fan or of anyone that enjoyed the old-school Final Fantasy games on the SNES. This game is a love-letter to JRPG fans. Gorgeous graphics and fun gameplay. This is easily one of the best Switch games.

If you like traditional JRPGs, especially those of an older ilk, then you'll probably find a lot to love in this game. I know that I am. It's got traditional 2D spritework, but overlayed on a 3D environment in Unreal Engine 4 with full lighting, shadow effects, depth of field, and realistic water, snow, and sand textures. It looks amazing and it's hard to describe without seeing it yourself. It looks almost like a live diorama. The turn-based combat is also excellent. The weakness and "break" system makes every battle, even random encounters, feel like a unique puzzle. I'm about halfway through and I am in love. Can't wait to spend more time. I'd highly recommend it, but if you need to test the waters, there is a 3 hour demo available in the Nintendo eShop that will transfer over your progress to the main game if you buy it! Why not check it out?!

If you love JRPGs from back in the day, or modern adventurous titles like Bravely Default, you'll love Octopath Traveler! Fantastic storyline and music. I'm 20 hrs in and thoroughly enjoying gathering adventurers plus doing side quests. Great game!

The gameplay for this is your standard JRPG battle system but things get interesting when you realize that all 8 playable characters bring their own unique skills to the table. Will you have a healer that uses magic like the Cleric? Or a healer who mixes up potions and herbs on the spot using a finite pack of supplies with the Apothecary? Story takes a bit to pick up but I'm 10 hours in and still enjoying my experience!

If your like me and still debating on wether or not to get this game don’t it’s a fantastic game with hours on hours of gameplay so many story’s such good combat and everyone can find something to love.
