Octopath is a refreshing RPG that feels familiar but different enough to keep exploring. With 8 main characters to choose from, octopath has proven to be a game we won't be forgetting about anytime soon

One of the best games that I've play that gives me a throw back into classics retro games, but with a twist of new style, first few minutes I played got me hooked, one of the best games to own on the switch.

Great game if you're looking for a long adventure to sink time into. The 8 characters feel different from each other and provide different stories to follow so its nice to be able to switch stories as you please.

If you are already a fan of JRPGs, then you'll probably enjoy this game. If you aren't a fan of JRPGs or don't know what they are though, then I wouldn't recommend getting this game. The reason being that while the gameplay is very much like your traditional JRPG with turn-based combat, jobs, skills, etc. the game has a very significant flaw and that is that it has NO MAIN STORY. Instead, it is broken down into 8 different stories that play out more like side quests, none of which are particularly interesting or well-written. That's why I say that you should only get this game if you already know that you enjoy the JRPG genre because if you don't, the game's story is not good enough for you to have a good time. If you are looking to try out some JRPGs, I'd recommend trying out the Bravely series (Bravely Default and its sequel Bravely Second) on the 3DS first as they have very similar gameplay due to having the same devs while also being $20 cheaper, having more gameplay features in general, and an actual interesting main story.

I’ve gotten side-tracked so many times finding new towns with new people with new things to steal. My reputation is at an all time low. Love the combat system.

I haven't played many JRPGs since the PlayStation 1 era and recently heard just a bit of the soundtrack from this game. It definitely plays into my nostalgia for early Final Fantasy/Dragon Warrior.

Octopath is amazing to look at in addition to very fun to play. Love the classic JRPG style gaming with the modern day graphics in 2D. This game is well worth adding to your collection if you like RPGs.

This game is a throw back to the SNES era of JRPGs. Travelling around the world and finding your companions and learning their stories is great and provides many hours of content.

Only through chapter 1 for each character, but I'm definitely enjoying the mix of old school 2d and newer effects. Party interaction could be better, but that's not why I picked it up to play. Give it a try!

If you are a fan of classic square enix RPGs from the 90s then you would love this game. The gameplay is very addicting and the fact you can play it anywhere anytime with the Switch it’s more then worth it.

This game is amazing, my husband and I both love it. With its turn base fighting style and frequent save spots it makes it easy to play with an unpredictable toddler. It’s fantasic, we highly recommend it!!

I don't need to say anything other than this: This game will give you the same great feeling that the turn-based RPGs and JRPGs of yore gave you when you played them as a kid. Stop delaying and just buy it.

This game is very grindy, you have to unlock certain weapons and over power your units or it is game over. You have to play with stratgy and plan out everything that you do or your guys wont survive.

A love letter to 2D JRPGs, Octopath feels like it came from an alternate universe where 3D gaming never took off. It feels like a natural progression of the genre while also embodying its best qualities.

If you love 16 bit visual style but want to see if someone magically translated to HD, that’s with at his game does. Further, the unique battle system makes this my fatibte RPG in at least a decade!

I love JPRPGs and this is definitely a good throw back to the old 16 not days. The battle system is unique and each character has their own abilities. The only thing really lacking is an engrossing storyline but each character has their own, but there really isn’t much of an overall arc. Recommend if you like games like Final Fantasy 4/6, and CHRONO Trigger

This game has gorgeous visuals. Mad props to square E. It’s a pretty grind heavy game but that’s kinda what JRPGS are. Story is ok. The combat is amazing. Really enjoying this gem. Ready for octopath 2

    An Instant JRPG Classic

I haven't completed the game yet, but am just having a ton of fun exploring and recruiting all of the characters that you can choose from. Combat is a step above your typical JRPG, with strategic elements that force you to make decisions on how and when to spend accumulated "Boost" points to empower your abilities and attacks. The voice acting is hit or miss, but outside key initial cutscenes, there's not a lot of it so it doesn't get in the way of the enjoyment of the game. Character progression isn't the deepest you've seen, such as with the Disgaea series, but there's more here than most other JRPGs except perhaps the Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy Tactics jobs / class systems. Overall, a great JRPG!
