Good game and great story, but 8 separate characters is a lot for one story.

This was a good RPG. The many different paths you take, based on the character you chose, was a nice idea.

If you're a fan of the 16-bit era of RPGs, you cant go wrong with this one. Some folks take issue with the separated stories. I think that complaint is overblown and represents a lack of creativity and authenticity in reviews. Play the game, see for yourself, you wont be disappointed.

Retro game for a modern price

I liked this game but at the same price as a modern AAA title it wasnt really worth it. The graphics and art style would have been expected on a much older console. The story is decent but not great enough to warrant the price of this game. If this had released at a price in line with other retro style games it would have been a must buy but at its current cost its definitely a pass.

Very nostalgic feeling with sprites and maps. New twists on classic jrpg battle systems. Must have for classic FF fans

I thought the retro pixelated looked visual style called HD-2D looked beautiful, so I got the game to experience it. Now I'm hooked on the stories of the 8 travelers and the gameplay. It's simply the best game I've played on the Switch since Zelda - Breath of the Wild. Must have!

Game play and aesthetic is great, but the game ends up as grinding through 8 unrelated stories with no story pay off.

Great game that has a ton of content and replayability. If you're a fan of older Final Fantasy games you'll see a lot of that in this and love it. A lot of people say they wish there was more of a story connecting all the individual characters, but I love it regardless.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about this game. It took me well over 100 hours to finish the main missions of each of the 8 characters. The additional job class dungeons for end-game content were both challenging and rewarding.

I didn't really like the story or rather the lack of a connected story between the 8 characters. The individual stories are mostly okay. The boost mechanic feels great like Bravely Default but fighting enemies outside of bosses can get stale. Also, it sucks when yoy didn't bring the thief Therion in your party because there' always a chest to unlock and you need him to open it.

Octopath is a great take on the classic turn based jrpg genre. Although the story seems a bit disjointed, the mechanics and overarching theme are great. Would recommend to anyone who's wanting to enter this genre as well.

I have over 30 hours into the game and still not bored with it. Great stories for the characters and nice gameplay mechanics. Very challenging boss fights and other enemies can be just as hard if you go into an area of the map you’re not quite ready for.
