Customers are saying

Customers highly value the engaging gameplay, memorable music, and compelling story of Octopath Traveler. Many also praise the enjoyable battle system and the high-quality collector's edition. While some find the game requires a bit of repetition and is pricey, minor issues with the collector's edition packaging were also noted.

I wish the plot had more cohesiveness and didn't feel like a bunch of B-stories but it's a charming JRPG that isn't banking on nostalgia the whole time so props for that.

The game in itself is great, if you love RPGs, you'll love this. The quality of the Wayfarer's Edition leaves a lot to be desired for its price. It just feels cheap.

The game is great but the pop-up collector’s book was cheaply made and several pages were damaged.

Classic jrpg in good and bad ways. Random encounters and very melodramatics plots

    Refreshing & Fantastic Turn-Based JRPG

Having played the 2 demos that were released over the last year, I knew this game was going to steal my heart and steal my heart it did. The graphics are fantastic, the music is beautiful, and the characters are wonderful. The combat system is such a blast and everything combines into a truly marvelous experience on the Nintendo Switch. My favorite part is the job system where you have 8 main jobs that you can obtain throughout the world to have as secondary job, meaning you could have your main party of 4 covering all 8 of the jobs. It makes for a great combination when fighting enemies and adds an additional layer of strategy with what jobs help against what enemies. The CE itself is great, too, as the pop up art book is beautiful. It also came with a sample of the soundtrack that is great to listen to! Battle I is my favorite track as it gets the energy flowing while you're fighting! The map and coin are a nice edition and it makes a fantastic bundle to have to show support for the game. Highly recommend you pick up the game!

    Absolutely Worth it

The game itself is wonderful, but this is a review for the special edition so I wanted to go over the features, the pop up book features a page of every character which was a wonderful surprise! I thought it would only be one. The coin is lovely. The soundtrack is amazing. But what I really enjoyed- and plan to frame- Is the cloth map. There are two sides to it, one is the map itself and the other is a picture of all eight of the cast of the game. To be honest I’m not sure which side I want to display more! Sometimes special editions can seem pricey and not worth it, I am glad to say this one was absolutely worth it! Good luck finding one if you can!

    Unique and Stunning

First of all, the outer collector's box is beautiful. It came packaged in a plastic sleeve so my worries about it getting scuffed up in transit wasn't, thankfully, founded. I absolutely love the extras that came with this edition. The pop-up book really matched the aesthetic that the game screams from start to finish. A full page is dedicated to each of the eight main characters, though Primrose's page seemed to receive the most attention (not a con by any stretch). The Orsterran Leaf (currency in game) coin felt hefty unlike many thinner metal casts for most pins/coins in collector's editions. Probably the only downside to the entire thing is that the cloth map is a little bit on the smaller side. It really doesn't take up hardly any real estate, but that's just a minor con, really. Now as for the game, I was hooked from the first demo and my love for the game only grew as more of the lore and characters were revealed as I played the full game. Each town/area feels unique enough that I only felt like I was in familiar territory a few times in my already 50+ hour play through. When I saw the gorgeous pixel art the JRPG purist in me squeal with excitement. Not to mention the flourishes that weren't possible twenty years ago. My only problem is the corner shadows (which I didn't know there was an option to turn off for my first 20 hours of play. Oops.). I love the ungated feeling of the game (though the game over screen has appeared more than once due to this). Enemies never feel like they suddenly jump in difficulty or scale. It's been a while since I've gone into a traditional style JRPG and not had to grind for 10+ hours to move on to the next area due to a sudden difficulty spike. The eight separate stories can be jarring at times. If I had to say it the game itself had any flaws it would only be from a lack of cohesion. While it is refreshing change from the "save the world" style JRPGs, I feel like the devs could have done a better job of helping the players understand why these very different people would just want to help each other... Other than the fact that they are the protagonists, at least. From what I've played so far, though, it's been one of the most solid experiences I've seen come out of Square in the better part of a decade (Bravely Series aside). I'll definitely enjoy the last 10 hours or so I have of mainline content... and probably play through it again.

Octopath Traveler will definitely be a classic I guarantee it. And this version is well worth the money it feels great and all the extras are very well done. I would recommend this game to all lovers of Rpg's and even if you do not like them or are new to them I would try it just because it might change your mind.

The game is as brilliant as the packaging used for the Wayfarer's Edition. Voice work fantastic. Original soundtrack is beautiful. Story is enthralling and deep. Graphics are visually appealing. Battle scenes are gorgeous. My item was pristine when I picked it up from my Best Buy and opening the Wayfarer's Edition and digging through everything included was something I will never forget. This has been the best purchase for my Switch so far.

Bought the digital version day one but was able to find this at my local Bestbuy. Got super lucky that there was one in stock! Case is beautiful and the pop-up book is well made. Just be careful tho cuz I see it breaking if handle improperly. The map and coin is also well crafted. Game itself is in no special packaging. After playing about 20ish hours, game picks up from there. Highly recommend to all does old jrpg fans and newcomers alike!
