Great for getting into VR!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to buy an Oculus Rift, but my PC wasn't capable of handling it. I grabbed this Omen at a great price and was able to get the Rift as well. It handles VR beautifully. If you are on a budget but want good clean VR, this is the PC for you!

Awesome beginning gamer PC.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Switching over to PC gaming after years playing Xbox and Playstation. I've owned PCs before (mainly for Sims and Dragon Age), and this thing stays cool to the touch and very quiet while running heavy games with heavy mods. It has lots of room for expansion, and I'm so happy to have picked this tower (didn't get the monitor). The keyboard and mouse came with the tower, I didn't care too much for the keyboard, it's rather small and the keys are close together and not raised. I had my own keyboard, though. Lots of USB attachments on the top and rear of the tower, as well as multiple HDMI hookups, and a hookup for a traditional monitor. I'm using a TV as my monitor, was able to get it connected with little time wasted. The resolution is a bit off, but nothing major, and completely at fault of my TV.

Great for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Runs smooth, gaming is great but not amazing on it. Cant do 4k with only 3gb but can play 1080 like nobodies business. Got it for steam games and it's great. And room for upgrading so only time will tell... LED light on front has issues though when customizing.

Transition to new computer extremely difficult.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to move a disk from my Dell computer to the Omen. Most of the software that worked on the Dell machine does not work on the Omen. Access to my old files also difficult.Quicken no longer works, and replacement may not access my old data. Extreme headache... unlike rosy picture painted by sales. Perhaps I should have stayed with Dell.

Awesome desktop!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this desktop running for a few years now and it works great. I did add an SSD to this to get better performance but it is very solid. Great job HP!

Pretty good entry level gaming rig
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Omen gaming desktop is a pretty good entry level gaming rig. The desktop is pretty elegant to look at with the aluminum finish and variable lighting on it. It is packed with features like a 3GB NVIDIA GTX 1060 graphics card, Bluetooth 4.2, built-in wireless networking, 3 HDMI inputs, DisplayPort and 9 USB ports, 5 of which are USB 3.0. After unpacking and connecting the components, the first thing I did was download all of the updates. There were updates to the graphics card and some critical Microsoft Visual updates and Windows updates. After trying to download them for several hours and having them fail to install, I reset my PC twice and the updates finally installed. This was frustrating, but seems to be common for me when updating Window's based computers. Not a big deal since they ultimately installed. I also noted that there wasn't as much bloatware as usual with this PC. Most apps can be uninstalled with the exception of a few to include the Xbox and Twitter apps. The main complaint I have is that it didn't come with an SSD drive. Although the 1TB 7200 rpm drive is faster than the standard 5400 rpm drive, it is still no comparison to the speed and boot time of an SSD drive. I am considering upgrading mine and using the 7200 rpm drive to backup the SSD hard drive and to store movies and photos on it. The boot time was roughly 30-35 seconds from a hard power off. That is pretty slow when you want to log on to check something really quick. I am using an HDMI cable to connect the PC to my monitor and I learned the hard way that with the three HDMI inputs, the two located on the bottom are not for the monitor. There is a third HDMI input on the video card that you use for the monitor. I went out and bought a new monitor and then ultimately returned it, thinking it was faulty and bought a different model. Only after searching Google, did I realize that I was using the wrong input. The monitor makes a difference in the gaming experience. My BestBuy didn't have the model I wanted in stock (ASUS VG24H) so I ended up buying an HP 23ES with HDMI input. Admittedly, its not a gaming monitor, but I will pick up the ASUA once its back in stock. Ideally for a gaming monitor, you want something with a response rate under 5ms and with a displayport connection as well as a high refresh rate. While you are out upgrading your monitor, I would recommend upgrading your keyboard and mouse as well. The mouse worked well enough, but I prefer a wireless setup. The keyboard however seems really small and awkward for a keyboard with number pad. All in all, this is a good entry level rig that has some room to be upgraded as you want or need to. This PC may not be ideal for the hardcore gamer, but those just starting out or on a budget but wants the option of upgrading later will appreciate the Omen. I would recommend this as it is performs well, has plenty of inputs and can be upgraded down the road. Would definitely upgrade to an SSD drive though.

It works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for the htc vive and it works decent. Had to upgrade to a ssd in order to get most games to play. So a little disappointed to say that it is not 100% vr ready like it is described as. Also the graphics card only has one hdmi port and 3 other DisplayPort slots.

Great system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't get this system for gaming but for photography and it zings through large camera raw files. The only thing that I did to it was to upgrade the memory. The OMEN i5 with the NVIDIA GTX 1060 is a capable system.

Solid beginner Gaming PC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this PC for my daughter at Christmas. She loves it. We haven't really pushed the graphics card too hard because she mainly plays Roblox and Minecraft and the like. Gmod works well with it as also. Would recommend.

Good First Gaming Desktop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Omen desktop is great for somebody who is looking for a good machine at a good price, but I recommend to be light on the multitasking. The computer only have 8GB of ram so I recommend to buy an extra 8GB DDR4 to enjoy your games without limits. The only thing that I'm sad about this computer is that the PSU is only 470watt, which mean, if in the future you want to upgrade for a better graphics card, you will probably have to buy an other power supply as well. The GTX1060 on the computer runs Overwatch at 144FPS on medium graphics and Black desert online on high graphics at 60FPS. GPU Temperatures are pretty normal, 50°C at 60 fps to 70°C-80°C at 144FPS. CPU Temperatures always under 55°C if you don't get crazy with your apps.
