We got this for my son as a 1st PC. He loves it. It's a really nice PC. I updated with a new SSD so it boots super fast now. I've been very pleased overall. My son can play Battlefront 2 all day without overheating.

We got this at a discount rate and it is running like a champ. We installed an SSD to speed up the HDD to the other components and had to get HP to send us the OS because Omen Lighting isn't an app. -1 star for that, but overall it is a fantastic machine.

It's very nice to have a nicer computer. Our internet sucks but having a newer computer seems to keep up better with it. The keyboard isnt the greater but it can get you by. All the keys are compacted together.

I scoured the internet looking for an affordable, mid-range gaming pc that will handle Oculous. I had always thought building from barebones would be the best way. I found this Omen and it was perfect at a decent price.

This computer is an OK computer, when it works. The problem is that it does not always work well. I have several years of experience working with PCs, working on them, building them, and working with them. This is NOT my first PC, but I needed something new and I was on a budget when I purchased this one. I bought this for office/school work for college (getting my Masters Degree). I did not buy it for gaming. The problem I have with the computer is this - when I have a Word document and an Excel document open at the same time (or more than one application open at a time period, does not have to be an MS Office Application), one or both of them ends up freezing, then not responding. Then the whole computer freezes, often times requiring a hard reboot - which may result in a loss of any new data since the last save (or Auto Save). The description states: "The Intel Core i5 processor ensures applications launch and run as expected for frustration-free performance, and the 8GB of RAM supports business and personal multitasking." Both parts of this statement are false/incorrect. There has been a large amount of frustration with this computer after its purchase. Applications do not always (or most of the time) run as expected. And it clearly cannot handle multitasking well. In addition to this issue, if the computer is not restarted once every couple of days (if just put to Sleep instead of Shut Down) it begins to go very slow in ALL applications. I do not understand how this can be advertised as a Gaming Computer if it cannot perform well with just office applications. Lastly, this computer takes longer to do the startup process than the computer I replaced did. Before anyone makes comments about how to adjust things, yes, I have turned off multiple applications in the Start Up sequence and have adjusted my "Services" in MSCONFIG to limit the number of applications trying to open on startup. Bottom line, if you buy this computer, please don't do it for gaming, if it can't handle having two applications open at once, it wont handle gaming. Also, just know you will need to restart it probably daily for best results. It does not handle multitasking very well at all. So if you go into the purchase and ownership experience not expecting much out of the computer, you will be pleased.

This computer has been able to handle just about everything I have thrown it's way. Some early access titles may big down the specs on this computer, but is a great option for someone wanting to dip their feet into PC gaming!

Super fast and ridiculously quick startup! I regularly play an MMORPG and it's never slow and never has any problems with graphics. It's also just a great family computer and good for school use too.

An absolute beast of a tower for what you pay for it! The only thing I’d change with it is adding a SSD to it. Otherwise phenomal! And the accent lighting is pretty satisfying as well!

I got the Oculus bundle. Overall it works really well with a few tiny hiccups which I am not sure it is because of the 8gb memory or the actualGTX 1060 card. I am still considering returning this and upgrading to a better computer.

    Good entry level gaming PC

The HP Omen gaming desktop is a pretty good entry level gaming rig. The desktop is pretty elegant to look at with the aluminum finish and variable lighting on it. It is packed with features like a 3GB NVIDIA GTX 1060 graphics card, Bluetooth 4.2, built-in wireless networking, 3 HDMI inputs, DisplayPort and 9 USB ports, 5 of which are USB 3.0. After unpacking and connecting the components, the first thing I did was download all of the updates. There were updates to the graphics card and some critical Microsoft Visual updates and Windows updates. After trying to download them for several hours and having them fail to install, I reset my PC twice and the updates finally installed. This was frustrating, but seems to be common for me when updating Window's based computers. Not a big deal since they ultimately installed. I also noted that there wasn't as much bloatware as usual with this PC. Most apps can be uninstalled with the exception of a few to include the Xbox and Twitter apps. The main complaint I have is that it didn't come with an SSD drive. Although the 1TB 7200 rpm drive is faster than the standard 5400 rpm drive, it is still no comparison to the speed and boot time of an SSD drive. I am considering upgrading mine and using the 7200 rpm drive to backup the SSD hard drive and to store movies and photos on it. The boot time was roughly 30-35 seconds from a hard power off. That is pretty slow when you want to log on to check something really quick. I am using an HDMI cable to connect the PC to my monitor and I learned the hard way that with the three HDMI inputs, the two located on the bottom are not for the monitor. There is a third HDMI input on the video card that you use for the monitor. I went out and bought a new monitor and then ultimately returned it, thinking it was faulty and bought a different model. Only after searching Google, did I realize that I was using the wrong input. The monitor makes a difference in the gaming experience. My BestBuy didn't have the model I wanted in stock (ASUS VG24H) so I ended up buying an HP 23ES with HDMI input. Admittedly, its not a gaming monitor, but I will pick up the ASUA once its back in stock. Ideally for a gaming monitor, you want something with a response rate under 5ms and with a displayport connection as well as a high refresh rate. While you are out upgrading your monitor, I would recommend upgrading your keyboard and mouse as well. The mouse worked well enough, but I prefer a wireless setup. The keyboard however seems really small and awkward for a keyboard with number pad. All in all, this is a good entry level rig that has some room to be upgraded as you want or need to. This PC may not be ideal for the hardcore gamer, but those just starting out or on a budget but wants the option of upgrading later will appreciate the Omen.

Given the price, the machine performs as advertised. Cannot do much on ultra or even high settings given the 1060 GPU. The color changing ability is nice and as a home computer I was satisfied.
