Awesome gaming desktop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm impressed with this desktop for an all around setup to use for PC gaming. Out of the box setup is super easy! It was ready to go with only minimal software pre-installed. The customized HP Omen Logo on the BIOS and the Windows 10 boot screen is a very nice touch and makes it feel like a nice gaming machine. In addition, the lighting on the case can be customized with the included control app - again a nice touch! It has built-in Wifi, and Bluetooth so there's nothing you'll need to add to it. The case itself is also nice and is easy to open for upgrades. Out of the box, this PC performed solid in all of the testing I did. I play several Blizzard titles regularly and this machine handled all of them fine (World of Warcraft, Diablo III) along with Halo and Call of Duty with the graphics turned up all the way with both HD and 4K resolutions. in HD (1920x1080) it performs smooth with all of the games I tested, and in 4K the games seemed to also perform well with some minor performance issues on certain titles/scenes but not bad by any means but this is more to do with the graphics card than the computer itself. It supports dual monitors which is a huge plus too/ This rig is perfect for my gaming needs and being able to upgrade the graphics to a higher end card is a HUGE plus so if my needs change down the road it's easy to change it. While I didn't test out VR the driver reported the system as VR Ready according to the NVIDIA app so you should be all set there if you're looking to try out VR gaming. One of the things I tend to look at with desktops is being able to upgrade components later (like a higher end graphics card or additional hard drive) and this machine's graphics can easily be upgraded and even has a large enough power supply to support an upgrade. The only thing in terms of upgrades that I didn't like was there was only 1 available SATA port so you won't be adding more than 1 additional hard drive or solid state drive. The optical drive doesn't appear that it can be upgraded easily to a bluray drive which is something I wish it had. In all, the HP Omen is a solid performer with some upgradeability and is a great gaming machine.

Great for 1080p gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PUBG - Medium/high - 55-60 frames, all day. Witcher 3 - Medium/high - 50-60 frames, all day. Ark Survival - Medium - 45-55 frames, all day. For a 1080p gaming system, this thing actually runs everything pretty well. I added another 8 gigs of ram and an additional hard drive, and so it's sitting at a pretty decent set up. I will say this, when adding a hard drive, it is a bit of a pain because the wire configuration gets in the way of a simple install. The computer is very quiet, can barely hear anything with it sitting no more than a few feet from my face. Great overall computer for anything I throw at it. Definitely do recommend this if on a budget, don't want to build and want to get in to gaming right away.

Waste of time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this pc thinking it would be a good gaming computer, it worked fairly well....for a "week" after that it would lag so much while booting up it took over 15 min just to get to the to the sign in page. I ended up returning it that same week and bought an Ibuypower pc and it works great!

Great Computer, Horrible Customer Service !!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ordered this computer open box certificated by Geek Squad( it is suppose to include every accessory) got home after picking it up only to not even be able to turn it on because it did not bring any cable! Not even the mouse just the keyboard! I went back to Best Buy only to get thrown back and forth between managers and having to pay for a mouse and power cable! I did not even get a discount on the computer price ! When I specifically paid the certified to make sure it included all the original accessories!! Not happy at all with the customer service I had with this purchase ! I paid for something I expect to get what I paid for not to get something half quality and end up paying even more on top of the computer to just be able to turn the thing on! Horrible horrible !

Overall, a very capable midrange gaming computer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Omen (870-224) is a good midrange gaming machine that should play just about anything with decent frame rates on all but the most graphic intensive games on the highest graphics settings. In Modern Warfare 4 I was able to set the graphics quality to Ultra and still got over 90 frames/sec. However, don't expect to run Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on Ultra, or even Very High at 1440p and get even 60 fps. For that you'll need more horsepower and/or a GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti. Still, the GeForce GTX 1060 is a very good graphics card for the price. My only complaint is boot times and how long it takes to get to the desktop (full disclosure: my current computer has an SSD). Boot times seem a little slow and it regularly takes 15-20 seconds after entering my password to get to the desktop. This was observed on a stock install with no applications installed. It wasn't enough for me to remove a star, just a little annoying. I noticed disk usage pegged at 100% for a couple of minutes at Windows startup, so I'm guessing that has a lot to do with it. I'm planning to install an SSD, so that should rectify most of the boot issues. This is a very capable gaming computer at a reasonable price. For the majority of games available, I think this is a great platform. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

Complete loss in less than 2 years
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sorry I purchased this OMEN. Its been less than 2 years and wouldn't turn on so took to geek squad and when the power source went out it fried the pc and now all I basically have is a box component and maybe memory card IF that's still good. Will cost more to fix than cost. So frustrated! Do not buy!
