    Good computer for the price

I was looking for a computer that could handle VR as well as gaming and this computer does an excellent job. It was the most affordable computer I could find that had a GTX 1060 card. I wish it had the 6gb ram card, but so far it has played every game we've thrown at it. I noticed it just dropped in price $100. So its a steal now. You could upgrade the Ram or add a SSD hard drive later, but it works really well out of the box. Having said that...I purchased it as an open-box item (to save some money) and had it shipped to my house. It appeared to be brand new to me. It came in HP Omen box and everything appeared to be new. Easy to setup. Just plug in and go through the windows initial setup questions. We downloaded Steam and were playing games in no time. I also purchased Oculus Rift and this computer didn't seem to have any issues playing VR. I would recommend this computer.

    Good Starter Gaming PC

This review is for the HP Omen PC and I'm mainly thinking about it as a gaming rig. Starting off with the peripherals which are the keyboard and mice.. The keyboard is a smaller , micro'ish size keyboard and for me it's small for a gaming setup. Obviously for a regular home PC it would be fine if it suits that persons needs. The mice is very light and not well suited for a gaming mouse but again ok for regular use. (Both are wired) As far as the system itself the specs are above average. Looking deeper at the system and simply by a visual examination: The GPU is not a contained board as all parts are exposed and frankly with the included attached heat sync and fan, it "looks" cheap compared to GPU's I use. The same goes for the CPU setup. And those with OCD will have a fit when seeing the heat sync and fan on the CPU as it is turned slightly and just looks "off". I'm sure it's on the right way by design but it is and eyesore when seeing it. The good thing though is the case doesn't have a see through side so none of this is visible, including the not so neat wire management. Yes I know I'm being a bit critical but that's simply because I build my own PC's also and these things are a part of what a build is all about. So please take all this with a grain of salt. If you're buying an already set up system that really isn't a concern of yours but I wanted to make these things known. From power off to desktop and ready to go it took roughly just 30 seconds. I had zero problems as far as setup and having the system ready to go. It took just a few minutes to set up and be rolling along. I played a few games so far there has been no issues for what these specs should deliver. The case has some RBG lighting that rotates through the spectrum which is nice for a pre-build system. Overall it's a nice system to jump into gaming on PC and will do any other work you want to do just fine.

I bought both of this OMEN and the Cyberpower $629 during the BF week. The Cyberpower performs better and a little cheaper compare to this OMEN. Also the OMEN case is packed and set..so not much upgrades can done to it down the road. The Cyberpower case is much more roomy, easy to upgrade and beautiful as well. Returning this HP OMEN soon.

HP did a great job with this system, 3 year review

Seems kind of silly to review a computer I bought 3 years ago, but I figure why not. I've been using this computer for 3 years, I got it at a bargain price $670 new, and for that money this thing has done everything I've needed it to up to this point. The motherboard is HP specific, and the GPU is a bare bones model 1060 3GB, but much of the system is standard off the shelf components. Over the years I've upgraded the RAM and installed an SSD. The game plays many current titles with no issues on decently high settings, the 1060 has aged well IMO over the past few years. The system itself has given me no issues, has been a solid work horse for both photo editing, some video editing, and for gaming. Having things like a USB C port on the front 3 years ago was very forward thinking for that time, heck a lot of systems sold today still don't have this, and it has come in handy for me. The system I'm replacing it with doesn't even have one! HP is always going to HP with components (use some custom and cheaper stuff), but I think they did a fantastic job with this system, and the bang for the buck I got from this system is incredible. Well done HP, well done.

    What an UPGRADE!!!

So here's the scoop. I have had my old Silverlight edition HP laptop that I got the free Win 10 upgrade installed and made that thing last a few years longer. It was already going bad, but it jumped back into gear again for a few more years. It eventually started showing me signs of it failing again. The wifi was constantly disconnecting so I tried a wired connection. The internet was extremely slow and forced me to cough up the money to look for another computer. I needed something fast, reliable, and came with tons of memory since I am a college student in need of something capable of handling the load I give it. I looked at the specs and read the rest of the reviews which were decent to say the least. I went ahead and bought it (last week around 7/12/18) along with the Omen screen. This thing is a beast when it comes to keeping many tabs open as well as apps in the background that I use back to back. This computer is not shy when you need speed. The looks are also a killer! I have never seen a computer that looked this nice before. I remember when the computers were huge since I started using them. (early 90s kid). Anyways, if you want to change the LED colors of the tower you can do so with the Omen Control app. All you need to do is set it and wait for it to change (a few seconds should do it) and it's done. I had to google it since this was new to me. Overall...it is an amazing switch. No noise whatsoever, I am not hard of hearing yet btw (lol); this does what I need it to do without bucking or fussing with me. The mouse and keyboard that come with it aren't the greatest thing to pair up with the Omen (although fairly tolerable since the num pad has a smaller "0" which needs some adjusting to if you choose to use this long term), so I do suggest buying better ones. I don't know why others have had a bad experience, but mine has worked perfectly since I set it up.

    New purchase, but glaring issue.

I purchased this tower as part of the bundle with the Oculus Rift. Get my new desk set up, monitor, get my updates done, and the tower has been great so far. Only complaint I had was the provided keyboard is tiny, but that's not really a problem since most gamers will get rid of it anyways. So I sit down to day to hook up my rift. I figure "they advertise this with 3 HDMI ports so 2 monitors and the rift will be perfect" right? WRONG There is an integrated video card on board that has 2 HDMI ports, as well as the graphics card that has one. The 2 HDMI ports have plastic caps, so I remove them and plug in. Nothing. Tried the other. Nothing. So I started my research thinking I had a dud. Ended up on the HP website and found this little blurb "NOTE: Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed." Translation: This computer is advertised as having 3 HDMI ports, but they don't mention that 2 of them are completely useless. It makes sense why they don't work, and I'm ok with that. But I'm annoyed that EVERY retailer advertises this as a computer with 3 HDMI ports, but fail to mention 2 of them are not connected. Now I have to wait until I can get back to town (40 minute drive and I work nights so I'm not in town when stores are open) to buy either a DVI or a displayport cable. And until then, my Rift set up is a fancy looking paperweight.

The only problem I had with the desktop was that the Wireless Adapter only connects to AC routers, and I had a b/g/n router. I didn't even know there were different routers until now. Anyway I talked to Max a support at HP and he recommended getting a $40 usb wireless adapter that is compatible with my router. The desktop runs perfectly now. I was also concerned that the fans may be loud since I didn't see any reviews about it, but it's whisper quiet, its sitting next to me and I cant even tell its on other then a very quiet hum. Overall I love it.

    Overall good starting rig.

Picked up this PC 2 days ago, figured I wanted a little more power. This PC is a good starting rig for the small price of 700$ USD (as of 11/18) I would recommend you purchase 16 gbs of ram, if you are playing games like rust, PUB G, or any other demanding online game, for the simple fact that most games will be clogging up your ram and you would want a little more for talking in discord, and browsing the web while running the game in the background, this pc is good for recording low demanding games, not for streaming with 8 gbs. Before purchasing this computer for streaming you should 1. Buy 16 gbs of ddr4 ram, and also make sure you have good internet speed for streaming. Overall I love this pc but i will be upgrading to a 1080 ti when some more games come out.

Great Gaming Computer for the Gaming Teen

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

When I first got this computer, I had high expectations. And from the first week I had it, it was amazing. For a person who was coming from another prebuilt from easily 2011, It was a nice and welcome change to have a computer that ran all of the games that I want and always play at such high settings. Of course, this isn't without draw backs. I've had the computer for a year and have noticed some obvious slowdown but I've chalked it up to not having enough ram base in the system. Plus, I'm not very nice to the computer and I do a lot. I never used the packaged keyboard or mouse and bought the keyboard to go along with it. All around a good setup for a decent price. If you are looking for a present for the teen or need a new computer to break into the PC gaming scene, this computer is perfect for that.

    Great Introductory Gaming Computer

At the time of writing this review, I have owned this computer for around 8 months and I personally can say it fits all my needs perfectly. It runs games such as Fortnite and PUBG at high framerate and high settings. However, if you buy this PC i would recommend buying a 250 GB SSD just to boot windows so the computer will work a lot smoother and faster but it is not a necessity. The boot times started getting annoying so I have since bought one and now this computer feels faster than ever. Room to upgrade in the future and hasn't failed me yet. I currently use it for video editing and gaming. It does well on both ends but is more geared for gaming.

Ok so the title may seem a bit rude or harsh but honestly, I really had high hopes for this pc as the reviews seemed great despite it being a 4.6 at the time of me purchasing this. Many of the reviews seemed to focus of the graphics and speed which I admit the graphics on this ( I play Dead By Daylight) are very nice, like super nice...but that's kinda where it ends...at least for my experience with this OMEN. (pun lol) But all jokes aside, so I'm booting up my game, it plays pretty nice the first two days or so, day three and bam it freezes mid game. Literally the next day I can't even play a game without it freezing not only the game but the entire pc itself to the point where nothing I do gets a response so I have to force shut down by holding the power button. After the fifth time back to back of me having to go through that process over again in a somewhat manic attempt to play my game I gave up. I mean I gave up entirely on the whole pc now. I am now on this pc looking up other pcs for possibilities because this just aint it right here, I'm over it. In conclusion I found out that the games were freezing because I would have another application open such as the internet or a chat application to talk to friends online as I play games, but guess what this pc couldn't handle that which is completely unacceptable for a pc, like what are you even doing? But on the Brightside the pc is pretty to look at with the contrast of the changing lights on the body against the metallic finish. That's it. Well perhaps I just got a defective unit, but naw I'm over it.

Overwatch: 120-180 fps in game. PUBG: 100+fps on high. Honestly was looking for a prebuilt that run anything on medium but this was everything I asked for and even more! I play WoW on 130+ fps! not really into building PCs, but I'm into playing so everything is running great, and had no issue with the same day delivery! Came right out the box ready to game after setup!! Have friends telling me this PC is running better than their $1500 rigs.

I bought this computer recently and it's exciting and fun to use, especially since I got a great deal! Love the changeable LEDs on the front. You can also see the lights on the front sides. Plays every game I have fast and smooth, though I haven't thrown anything super demanding at it yet. The only thing I'm disappointed in is Best Buy... It is advertised as coming with free Trend Micro, as a digital free item. There was no code or anything included.

Great computer. Has everything I have ever needed. Not a good mouse, but already had one so it was irrelevant. Wasn't a fan of the keyboard, but also had one of those. You may want to consider picking one up if you plan on gaming. Computer blows through most high end games, so enjoy!
