Per instructions, downloaded the app first thing. Unfortunately, it took 3 attempts to connect to the app and to my wifi connection (about 30 minutes) Once connected seems to work correctly and ran through it's test mode so I'm under the impression that it is working properly. First Alert makes the Onelink and the Z-Wave so I was disappointed to find out that the Onelink will not connect to a Ring alarm system (the Z-wave does). Not a big deal I guess but the Onelink sells for twice the price of the Z-wave. If you don't want/need to connect to Ring then I would recommend the product.

This is the perfect smoke/CO alarm for my basement. The installation was pretty simple (two screws in the ceiling) and the setup through the app worked great. The alarm will signal beeps and a voiceover telling me if it’s a fire or CO alert. The added perk is the ability to get alerts while away from home through the Onelink app. To be honest, without manually starting a fire or having a CO leak, I can only assume the product will do its job when needed. Until then, I put my trust into Onelink and think this is a great product.

The onelink smart smoke and carbon monoxide alarm is an easy to setup all in one detector that can send alerts to your phone. The detector can work with Apple and with Alexa, comes with its own app and works with other third party app such as smartthings. Setup was really easy, install the mounting bracket in a suitable location (the manual offers suggestions for locations) then attach the detector to the base. Finish setup using the IOS or android app so your detector can connect to your wifi. Any alert will be sent to your device. I haven't set up smart things yet, but I understand you can use this app to set up automations so if your alarm goes off, you can program your lights to come on, doors to unlock and so on. Pretty cool if all of this will work like it is supposed to. Multiple units can be meshed together so that if one senses a problem, all of the associated units can sound the alert. According to the manual, this detector should have a 10 year life expectancy, so it is a fairly long-term use product. I haven't found any downsides to this device, but of course, I haven't needed it, and hope I don't have to experience it firsthand. All in all, I would say it is easy to setup and use and should provide some security to you and your family.

Installation of this battery powered smoke/carbon monoxide detector was straightforward. Packaging and presentation seemed like it would be a premium device. Setup was via the app just as easy and checking the status of the device via the app seemingly works. Testing it indoors proved to be a bit of a problem because i couldn't get enough smoke or CO accumulated to set off the Onelink. I placed it in a larger stock pot on top of a strainer within the pot and burned some paper underneath. I closed it up and let the smoke build up. The alarm triggered but it took a little while for it to do so. The alarm is quite loud and ear piercing as an alarm should be. I did the same test with my Nest Protect and the Nest seemed to trigger a few seconds faster. The big problem I have with the Onelink is the push notifications. The Nest Protect sent me a notification upon being triggered. The Onelink did NOT. NOR did it show in the history. That is not what I hoped for this item. Also I cannot link the Onelink to Smartthings. I have another basic 'smart' First Alert alarm which is linked to Smartthings and the home hub will send me a notification. I have several Wyze Cams which will push a notification when it detects an audible alarm (and tested that they work when I did an alarm test) so that will suffice for now, but that is less than ideal. The Onelink does work as a basic alarm that is somewhat tied to an app, but that's it. And for now I wont be giving up my Nest Protect any time soon. Hopefully First Alert will improve on the existing product rather than abandon it in favor of something new. But I would pass on this item if you are looking for a true Smart Smoke/CO detector.

The idea of having a wifi connected fire detector is incredible, I have pets at home and now I can be notified about a fire or possible carbon monoxide when I am not home -- but setting up came with a lot of frustration. Setting up such a simple device should be easy, it should pair immediately, it should connect to the wifi easily, it should be really SIMPLE. That's where this device fails. Not counting the mounting (which was the easiest part), it took me about 60 minutes of "failed to pair" "failed to connect" "unpair and try again" messages until I finally was able to set up the entire family on the app. (You have to manually pair each phone, the "cloud account" feature just shows you devices, but doesn't pair them). I love the idea, I love modern square look, but after all the headaches of setting up, I just hope it actually works. I recommend for pet owners who leave their pets at home alone, just for peace of mind.

I gave this 3 stars for two reasons. The first one is it took 5 try’s before I could get it connected but once I did everything worked great. Good app and after reading some reviews I was able to get it connected to Alexa. The Alexa instructions included did not work which after searching appears to happen allot. The other reason is that I have had Nest detectors in the past and they have a few more features for the same price such as motion detectors that turn on a night light or integrate with other Nest products and Nest app is a tad better. Overall, for a battery powered smoke/carbon monoxide detector it does what it is supposed to.

Easy setup and installation. Connecting to WiFi was quick and painless. Looks great and took less than 10 minutes to install and setup.

Upon unboxing the alarm was packaged well. The setup process requires wifi connection, and an application be downloaded to your smart phone prior to setup. You will set the alarm up following the prompts from the mobile application. The approximate time for setup was 15 minutes due to the application being slow. Volume of the device is acceptable, But not loud enough for a heavy sleeper. The mounting was easy and the size of the product is sleek and modern.
