Awesome sound.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got a good deal on it so I grabbed it instead of the comparable pioneer elite. Took me a bit to get Atmos working but when I did... WOW!

Not up to Onkyo quality...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this receiver because the 2 Onkyo receivers I owned were great... this one is less than stellar. The UI is far more obtuse than the previous Onkyo receivers I've had. It defaults to a mode (I assume meant for energy saving) that makes it stop listening to/for a signal if it doesn't get signal in a very short period of time. So, if the sound stops for say, 30 seconds, it takes 5 seconds when it gets a signal to start playing it, meaning you miss 5 seconds of audio. There is a toggle (per input) to have it always listening, but when my Windows 10 PC is set to Dolby Atmos, it doesn't work at all, meaning I have to deal with the 5 seconds of nothing every time there stops being sound. Meaning, don't expect to hear the beginning of a Youtube/Netflix Video, or the start of a song if the delay is too long since whatever you played last. Also, for whatever reason, it doesn't play nice with the Nintendo Switch's surround sound, so you're stuck with just stereo sound. Needless to say it's been a huge disappointment and I'll be looking very hard at reviews and at other companies for my next receiver.

Just too many issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this really is okay just too many issues, for a budget reciever. I say budget because let's face it. If you want great sound you get what you pay for. This was my introduction to 7.2 4k uhd compatible reciever. I had to exchange it once because it just died. The second reciever does okay but sometimes it has trouble with the audio source and the ARC. It sometimes won't connect. A quick turn off and on and it connects. Now the secondary subwoofer out has a delay with connecting. The main sub is going and out of nowhere the second kicks in which is weird. It catches your off guard. It should run at the same time like it use to when I first got it, giving you great surround bass. I plan on returning it again and exchanging it. I have no choice. It doesn't work properly. That is why I have the protection plan. I may end up choosing a new brand like Denon or something. Too bad because I like Onkyo. I hope others have had better luck with theirs.

Doesn't work well with the Direct TV receiver

Well functioned receiver with few flaws
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am satisfy with this receiver because it works well as expected. The setting interface is fine for me and there is two things I didn't feel comfortable. The first one is the remote as it functioned as a TV remote more than a receiver remote. (The latest model was improved.) The second problem is it load little bit slow on high resolution format of music file. This amp is a good buy at this price range.
