Its fine, but not great.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The receiver worked fine for a while, but then I started having issues with inconsistent audio levels. Id need to turn the volume up or down dramatically depending on the show. Im not sure if it was overheating or what the problem was.

Great receiver!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After the sound board on my Harmon Kardon went I decided to just buy a new one. I was surprised to find out the BB was no longer carrying Harmon Kardon. My #1 must have was a second zone this was the main reason for choosing Onkyo not only does it have a powered zone 2 it has pre-outs for zone 2 as well so this definitely exceeded my expectations. I know Onkyo has a decent reputation but I still like to stick with what I know and also these receivers aren't visually appealing as others. The set up was a breeze the sound quality is amazing very clear with little effort. It has Atmos, 4k capable, air-play and a whole bunch of other things I am sure I have yet to discover. Awesome piece to add to any set-up.

Worked great, but failed with diagnostic code.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went through all the setups, hooked it up to wifi and it sounded great, but it only lasted two weeks and failed with a diag code of NG: L R. I am returning unit to BEST BUY.

Selection Buttons - Way Too Small
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In a dimly lit room, it's virtually impossible to see the selection buttons. I need to use a flashlight to see them. Backlighting is needed!

Sounds Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace my first AV receiver, an aging Sony STR-DG800, which served me well for about 9 years. Obviously things have come a long way in 9 years and I am amazed by the difference while watching movies, there is just no comparison. Im driving two DCM TFE-200 front channels with a TFE-60C center, two DCM TP160's as surround channels and two TB-1212 subs. The sound is very rich and dynamic, I'm very happy with the performance in movies. Action movies have great punch and the LFE hits nice and deep in scenes from King Kong, shaking the room with a nice rumble. Voices sound warm and natural and the surround fills the room nicely and places you in the middle of the scene the way it was intended. 2 channel stereo performance with music has a nice wide stage and great imaging for a theater receiver. I set my front towers to full range for music listening, they never sounded this full on the bottom end or midrange before. I appreciate my speakers all over again after listening to them for 9 years with the old Sony, I didn't know they could sound this good. Overall I am very happy with the purchase so far, I'm hoping it lasts a good while because it seems pretty future proof with the features you get for the money. If you want an entry level midrange receiver that wont break the bank, I dont think anyone will go wrong with this.

Nothing worked
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The zone 2 cut out every 10 seconds and I couldn't get it to connect to my internet or do a auto tune with the supplied mic. Took it back for a Yamaha advantage and am very happy with it.

didn't work on many levels
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had high hopes for this unit even though there were pretty many negative reviews, along with a majority (of course) of satisfied users. Soooomany things were not functioning easily. I kept thinking it must be me. Hours and hours of manual study, repeated connection checks.......and then it works. Use it for the evening, and next day, its all heywire again. Finally took it back on day 16 (oh no!) and they did the refund with management intervention. I had been out of town for more than a week is why we missed the doomsday cut off of 15 days. Got a fancy Yamaha elsewhere and it worked perfect. Weeks later, still great on the Yamaha.
