Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the sound quality, ease of use, and Bluetooth capabilities of the 700W 5.1-Ch. 4K Ultra HD and 3D Pass-Through A/V Home Theater Receiver. Many also appreciate the receiver's power and the value for its price. While some found the size a bit large and experienced minor compatibility or heat issues, the positive feedback on the features and performance outweighs these concerns. The 4K capabilities also received positive comments.

I bought this based on reviews. Got it home, hooked it up, it would play for 10 seconds then shut itself off. Returned it and got a Denon. No hassle with Best Buy.

Do not buy. It only lasted me 8 months. The HDMI ports stopped working. Onkyo will not cover it under warranty either.

This was an open box item and had hidden damage. Apparently Best Buy doesn't check these things. Very sad.

    great home theater receiver

Bought this for my summer home had a total budget of $500.00 but wanted great sound. Purchased This reciever Yamaha - 8" 100-Watt Powered Subwoofer 2 sets of Polk Audio - 5-1/4" Bookshelf Speakers Fluance center channel Sony - BDPS6500 – Streaming 4K Upscaling 3D Wi-Fi Built-In Came in at 503.00 plus tax I tried it in my 16 x 32 family room with cathedral celing at Home and it sounded great except for the sub. In my summer house it is perfect. Have a 200 amp 12" sub in home family room. The speakers and the receiver pair together to give a full rich sound. I am very pleased with this system and would recommend it to anyone with a medium to small area. It will fill a large area but I would go for 7.2 with more power, tower speakers and a larger sub to give Movie theater sound.

    Nice receiver

The receiver is real easy to setup. It does a lot. I really like the use of the bluetooth and the fact that it has a USB in the front. I also like all the passthrough options via HDMI. I have one small complaint. The USB does not find my IPhone (guess not in Apples approved list of products) and only charges when on USB. So with that said, I can't listen to any music or watch anything If I'm trying to charge my cell phone. Everything else, works as expected.

    Onkyo entry level performs well

I bought this receiver for my bedroom to replace a very outdated Pioneer receiver. This is a very good entry level receiver for the money. I have always been an Onkyo fan and I am even more so now. Not as bright as a Yamaha or Denon receiver nor as soft as a Pioneer or Sony receiver , this one is comfortably in the middle. I will always buy Onkyo and if you are looking for an entry level 5.1 receiver , you might want to listen to this one. Its features and remote are very easy to use.

Finally got a receiver that I can hookup Bluetooth to and play music through preinslalled wall speakers. Pretty easy piece. Only drawback is one person has to actually disconnect Bluetooth connection for another person to pair theirs to receiver. Kind of a bad design. But a great deal so no complaints

This onkyo packs quite a punch. There are several sound options which can be confusing if you don't have a bunch of knowledge, but just hook up your speakers and play with the settings, or there is an auto calibration feature

Once I had it set up correctly the picture and sound were both excellent with my Samsung 4K TV and Harmon Kardon speakers. I set this up with my kids Xbox One S and it took a while to get everything synced up. I found this was not simply plug and play receiver. I had some issues getting the receiver to recognize 4K content. To be fair I'm not sure if the issue was with the Xbox or the receiver. Bottom line if you have issues getting 4K content, go to HDMI settings and change it to 4:4:4. It was a simple fix but took some research. Overall I'm very pleased with the receiver.

DON'T BUY an Onkyo receiver, they don't last. I purchased a TXNR626 receiver on 12/26/2013. I paid $449.00 for this receiver. On 12/30/2014, one year later, I had to take it in for warranty repair due to "no sound". Now on 10/10/2016, I had to take my receiver in AGAIN, for "no sound". Yes, it was out of warranty. I had to pay $80.00 up front for diagnostics. I was quoted $323.00 to repair my less than 3 year old receiver that originally cost $450.00! The $80.00 diagnostics cost would go towards the repair cost if I went forward with the repair. I contacted Onkyo to see if they would help with the repair cost, provide the part, or even warranty it. I was hoping that since this was a repeat issue; the receiver was less than 3 years old; and the warranty repair was less than 2 years ago, that maybe they would stand behind their products and actually care about their customers and reputation. Additionally, Onkyo has a history of no sound issues with their receivers with "no sound" or as they put it "Loss of Audio/Network Connection" on their receivers (see http://www.onkyousa.com/Support/service_info.php). WRONG! They offered me two options: A. pay for the repair myself ($323.00) or B. buy a refurbished unit for $275.00 plus trade-in with no credit for the $80.00 diagnostic costs. Total cost, $355.00. I tried to talk to a supervisor but no matter how many times I called, I was never "allowed" to talk to anyone other than the customer service representative. I was willing to pay for the diagnostics. I was really just trying to see if they would provide the parts for the repair, thereby splitting the cost or giving me credit towards a NEW receiver. I was NEVER allowed to discuss my case with anybody of authority. One last point, my sister bought an Onkyo receiver in 2012, about a year before me. Her receiver also lost sound. Fortunately, her receiver fell under the "recall" and she received a NEW receiver. I make this point only to illustrate that Onkyo receivers have loss of sound issues. Some are taken care of, others may not be. It's your roll of the dice.

Nice, basic a/v receiver. Documentation is terrible, but a real manual is available online: http://www.onkyo.com/manual/txsr353/en.pdf I guess they saved some trees by leaving it out of the package SMH

    Not ready for use

This system is not ready for the average consumer. The unit requires 'space' around it to operate. If the speaker wires are not connected correctly the unit just shuts off. Our experience was that after two days of working with Onkyo support we returned the product. As a side note - Onkyo support was difficult to get ahold off, Long wait times. Very rude when speaking to you. Will never buy a Onkyo product again.
