Incredible receiver for the dollar
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had an Onkyo for over 10 years, was missing some features, obviously due to its age. It did, however still work as new. Got this one after reading many reviews and my expectations were greatly surpassed in all areas. This piece of gear ROCKS. Next on my list is the 7.1 speakers, also old but still in pristine condition.

Just what I needed
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed this to run the surround sound throughout the house. The media room already had a stereo, but couldn’t manage a physically separated room with more than 1 zone. This was on sale and was exactly what I wanted and I didn’t have to overpay for another unit that would’ve been overkill.

Been very pleased!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally replaced my old receiver of almost 10 years old... Never used the Onkyo brand before, but setup was a breeze on getting the speakers adjusted, you stuck microphone in the middle of the room and let it do it’s thing! Plenty of inputs to use, 3D pass through was my concern, whole movie with no issues! Definitely recommend!

Great Value - Onkyo nails it
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Onkyo is still at the top of its game, and this mid-grade entry is unstoppable, especially at the price Best Buy had offered it back in December when I purchased. 7.2 channels (5.1 for me, but I only have 1 sub, but I imagine adding a second would be easy if I didn't have to navigate a web of lies with built into my house Bose speakers) and each produces crisp clean DTS audio. A myriad of options at your fingertips, and what's more, using DTS Play-fi allows for whole home entertainment, provided you have other DTS Play-fi equipment (Pioneer makes some good equipment too). Of course, after I purchased from Best Buy and missed the window on pickup, mayhem ensued. I'm reviewing the product not the experience. After 3 months of back and forth, I gave up and bought it on Amazon for the same price. Yes, Amazon is eating everyone alive these days, and I'm sure the big BLUE store is no exception. Its a shame, because I'd love to continue to shop here if they actually understood customer service is what wins you back.

My first Onkyo AVR
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Denon of 10+ yrs broke so I purchased this one. This has more channels but same connection interfaces so it is easy to connect. The auto setting of speaker functions was cool but not much useful. I ended up not using the auto-set. I still need to figure out more functions but I enjoy the classical music very much.

Excellent. Solution to Setup Gripes in Review.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I won't go too into details about how great this receiver is. There are plenty of other reviews for that. I bought this mainly for dolby vision and future proofing for 7.1 and potentially adding a zone B. Dolby Vision does NOT work out of the box. Even HDR on Playstation 4 did not work properly out of the box. Setup was painful. The solution? Turn on "Enhanced HDMI" before trying to get any HDR working. To do this, first update your firmware. Once updated, press BD/DVD and the power button on the receiver at the same time. A hidden menu appears. Let go of the power button and then press the power button again. It should say enhanced HDMI. Done. Now HDR will work. I'm not sure that I understand why this is off by default or why it is in a hidden menu that isn't in the manual, but it's now working great. The only other minor gripe is that even renaming the inputs on the receiver, it always shows the factory name on the display. Aside from that, this is a very feature packed receiver with no functional issues so far.

Versatile Connectivity, Great Audio Quality
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What really appealed to me about this receiver was the amount of inputs and outputs to connect all of my components and use throughout the house. Some of those components were older, like a VCR, and some with modern technology (HDMI). There are plenty of inputs for all, and it is simple to assign those inputs. On top of that, I can easily connect portable devices via bluetooth. A really great feature is the secondary HDMI output, giving me the flexibility to connect to televisions in other rooms of the house with the use of HDMI cables/extenders. Perhaps the only negative is the limited functionality of the remote. Onkyo does have an app available for download to address this. One thing I used that for is to direct tune to radio stations and set them as presets. Once you do that, the remote is fine. I suppose I wish the receiver had a power outlet for my subwoofer (my previous Sony did), so that the subwoofer is powered off when the receiver is turned off. The sound quality is great! I hope to have this receiver for years to come and highly recommend it.

Works great.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My parents live in a semi-secluded area which is unfortunate only because their internet sucks. I had been wanting to get my dad a surround sound system but most of them are wireless. I was a little worried about how this would work but it was an easy set up and was a great price. He loves it.

So far so good :)
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced a Sony STR DN-1070 (which was more $$s) with this model and have been much happier. Aside from supporting Atmos sound, it just works better (e.g. switching between 4K inputs doesn't seem to frequently cause black screens that require bouncing the receiver) and supports volume adjustments per input.

Excellent home theatre receiver!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love it! A lot of sound options and great for 5.1 (which I have) or later the ability for me to upgrade to 7.2! I also use it in stereo mode for my multi disc CD player and also use it to play by Bluetooth from my iPad and me Android Samsung phone. Works perfect for me and has a lot of power!!
