Best Buy tech can’t get the 2nd channel to work. Best Buy tech also could not get this AVR to work well with the our new Samsung TV purchased on 1/19/21.

I hooked up the Onkyo with many difficulties… I did not think the instructions were very clear, it sounded great but the next morning it would not turn on the sound…I played with it for several days and decided to return it for a Sony…The Sony cost a lot less money but sounds fantastic and was very easy to set up

The bluetooth connectivity is absolutely terrible. Even at a distance of 6 feet from the receiver, the bluetooth connection from my iphone is scratchy to the point that you just want to turn it off. Same iphone works just fine on other devices. Wish I had found that out before the return period expired. Do not buy if Bluetooth connectivity is important for you. Rest is ok, nothing extraordinary.

No instruction booklet for remote and receiver. Cant work receiver properly. Or surond sound

I have been very happy with this Onkyo receiver. It fits my needs perfectly which is using it with both movies and multichannel surround sound music. I now that I have owned this for two years I can confidently say it is a reliable product. I believe it will last me many years to come.

Difficult initial setup. No instructions and what little I did find online were very unhelpful.

A whole lot better receiver than the one I previously had.

Ordered and paid for a new Onkyo TX-696 receiver and was sent an open box / used receiver. Batteries were installed in the remote control, the microphone was unwrapped and the wire wound up. The plastic bag containing the accessories was torn , open and some items were laying in the box under the receiver. Receiver was returned to Best buy for a full refund.

I have to reset it almost daily bc my sub or surround sound speakers will stop playing sound. Its like you bill yourself a top 5channel but damnn near seems to only work when 2 speakers are connected

Did not play well with Sony TV. Often would not connect; haphazard results.

Very pleased with the sounds... what they don't tell you is ZONE 2 doesn't work if your connecting to anything with an HDMI cable. Good golly, it's 2020. Very sad... you get a 1 star on what is really a nice unit. SOFTWARE UPDATE or don't buy!!!!!

This unit cannot connect to a 2021 LG OLED Gallery TV via ARC without adding an optical audio connection. Atmos and other sound enhancements are lost. Reconnected to the older 646 and giving away this one (too late for returning).

Not 120hz. Barely 4k. Also HDR pass through is finkiky. I think the technology was to new for this model that they failed at the full potential. Hardware was great but I returned item waiting on better tech, before i spend this kind of money.

Got it home, went through the auto setup (three times) but got no audio output. Double checked the manual but to no avail. It became obvious why it was returned in the first place. Make me wonder if Best Buy really checks these things before putting them back out on the market though.

Cant stop the clicking sounds. The clicks whenever I change channels

Every so often the receiver just shuts off, and then turns back on! Some times I can go for hours with no problems, and then other times it shuts off every 20 minutes or so. How annoying! It started about 6 months after purchase. Yes, I checked all my wires for any stray strands. Yes, I ensured that positive was hooked up to positive, and negative to negative. Yes my unit is well ventilated and not overheating. Yes, I am annoyed with the product.

Not what Onkyo used to be. On screen EQ does nothing. One problem after another.

This reciever is trash. The volume has to be at 30 before you can hear anything. My 20 year old sony still puts out better sound. There is no way to get rid of the surround sound. Surround ruins music. The reciever drops tones. Makes electric guitars sound like old acoustic guitars that are out of tune. Makes drums sound like a kid beating on a coconut. The setup is rediculous . Will be returning to get a new sony or yamaha

Ordered reciever Thanksgiving weekend online from Best Buy. Geek Squad certified excellent condition reciever. Upon delivery, opened box to find calibration mic missing, no big deal. Set up reciever and plugged in. Didn’t power on at all. Some much for being checked by Geek squad before being made available for purchase. Returned. Now no reciever.

Video pass through was great. It looked like a new TV. Now the bad, I could not get it to output Bass. Tried and Tried. set up 3 times. Ended up returning it. Disappointed
