Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the excellent sound quality, ample power, and straightforward setup process, along with its extensive features and effective room correction. However, customers have noted some issues with HDMI performance, particularly with 4K Blu-ray, and slow input switching. The complexity of the Dirac feature has also been a point of concern.

I purchased this to replace an 9-10 year old Onkyo. It was still performing just fine, but it was aged. This is such a massive upgrade over my old receiver. The 4k is clearer & a sharper picture and the surround is great. The Dirac Live set up was a bit finicky to figure out, but was well worth the effort as the surround is so much improved over my old one. I highly recommend the TX-RZ50.

The Onkyo TX-RZ50 is likely one of the best values for your money in high-end receivers, offering the power of separates without the cost. It effortlessly drives my dual 8" Klipsch towers, and with multiple audio formats, you can tailor your listening experience to your preference. Additionally, the Dirac software performs exceptionally well. It never fails to bring a smile to my face each time I power it on.

This Onkyo is a beast! Dirac Live took way longer than the basic Quick Setup, but it destroyed the old AccuEQ in quality—my room finally sounds balanced. The dedicated STRM BOX input is perfect for my Android TV, should rename it "NVidia Shield" STRM Box is clunky, If you have the patience for the advanced calibration, this receiver is unbeatable. Front panel for quick HDMI plug ins is also a good feature.

I purchased the TX-RZ50 to take the place of an older receiver. The TX-RZ50 has updated circuitry to handle both 4K and even 8K signals. The layout is great and operation is easier and more logical than my older unit. And the most important thing is that it sounds great.

Great sound and features, but not worth the additional money for DIRAC, imo. 6100 model without DIRAC as good other than missing DIRAC

Overall, it’s a good receiver, but nearly impossible to program Dirac. Spent over eight hours and still have not accomplished calibration. I have very good experience programming other receivers I believe the microphone that comes with it is substandard.

IMO, great receiver for what it is, this is a step up from my other one. The Onkyo is still new to me, haven’t gone through all the features yet, but I plan on it. I have it setup for 5.1 right now, plan on going 7.2. The one draw back for this one is, with 2 subs they will not be independent of each other, the RZ70 has that feature. I’m running klipsch speaker with this system and still getting them dialed i, but for the most part as of now, I have nothing to complain about with this receiver,

I was surprised when I saw this receiver finally available to purchase at Best Buy. I had been searching many different websites for about a year for the opportunity to acquire this. I replaced my Yamaha Rx-A1070 and couldn't be more pleased with the sound quality, built and overall design. I hope to enjoy this receiver for many years to come.

Sold my Marantz SR-6015 and purchased the Onkyo RZ-50. Greatest move I’ve made the separation and clarity of the Onkyo is amazing. Great affordable receiver.

This claims to be a 9.2 channel receiver, but it seems to me that some of the channels are piggybacked off of others. I am also not experiencing a lot of difference between all the different sound and effect modes. My prior Yamaha 7.1 and my Denon 7.1 in the theater room used to give me sensational sound. For instance, on "stadium" or "sports" mode you felt like you were right there surrounded by the sounds of the fans, while the announcers and field action was up front. Now, not really.

Decent Product + Bad Service = Bad Product

I’ve been pretty pleased with my RZ50 so far, with audio quality that exceeded anything I had used before, but after only a few short months of owning the product, it developed the apparently common Onkyo/Pioneer HDMI blackout issue. Onkyo support expects customers to pay non-refundable shipping to one of a small number of authorized service centers to warranty their commonly defective products, only to have them commonly fail again. Hopefully Onkyo can fix their poor service some day, but luckily other brands have released new products that brought competition back to the $1500-ish AVR market, so hopefully I won’t have any reason to talk to Onkyo again, not owning any of their products. Hopefully Best Buy can help some way or another.

This is an excellent A/V receiver. We are using it in 7.1.4 mode with an external Amp to drive the two extra speakers. Sounds and works perfect! Very versatile and highly recommended value for the price.
