Customers are saying
Customers are positive about the excellent sound quality, ample power, and straightforward setup process, along with its extensive features and effective room correction. However, customers have noted some issues with HDMI performance, particularly with 4K Blu-ray, and slow input switching. The complexity of the Dirac feature has also been a point of concern.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quit working in less than a year. Without protection plan, Best no help and need to send to repair shop to be covered under warranty. Due to weight and cost of receiver, shipping cost is over $100. Utilized UPS packing services which did an awful job so now dealing with that as well and I all I want to do is enjoy my surround sound.

Home theater installation takes 6months/10 visits
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy wasn't able to figure out how to use it to give me Atmos. And now tell me I have to order a different receiver (the third one so far-- I ordered what they tell me I need for my installation which has been wrong over and over again). And also that ceiling speakers have to be removed and holes left in the ceiling and speakers placed in different locations. And that I'll have to pay to fix the holes left in the ceiling. My home theater installation will take at least six months and at least 10 visits to complete. And the first installer who was the installation manager never heard of protector hotspots or knew how to prevent them. I have to wait four to five months for a different screen because that's how long it takes. The first installation was rushed so much that everything needed replaced and redone. The components were not turned on to see if they worked or were installed right. No updates were checked. Speaker distances were not entered. And probably 10 times I've scheduled to have someone tell me how it should be done right and I just get a call the day before that says they don't know yet and they cancel and never get back to me.

GREAT receiver for current gen gaming consoles
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, I absolutely LOVE this receiver. Upgrading from an older Denon unit that wasn't able to support the full functionality of the current gen consoles (XSX, PS5). This works great, and sounds incredible. I'm also able to add 2 more height channels to my Dolby Atmos setup...looking forward to setting those up soon.

Worth the upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 3rd onkyo receiver and by far the best one. Upgraded from the 6100 model. More channels and a richer sound experience. The distribution of sound emerces the room nicely. The voices sound crisp and clear while balancing the bass well. I would recommend this receiver and worth the money.

I bought it back and it broke within four months.
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Connected to AirPlay and Bluetooth, the network is often disconnected when listening to music, the picture is unstable and it will flash back by itself, and every time I use the remote control to select an item, its response is very slow

Hear Your Music
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This RZ50 receiver replaced an older Onkyo Home Theater receiver, 22 yrs old. It still worked, but the display had all but quit and the audio, although good, lacked focus and clarity. The RZ50 was almost impossible to get. Every time I tried, out of stock. But I was persistent! After connecting the RZ50, I turned it on, configured the speakers and played what I considered the best recorded, produced and mastered CDs I have. I call these my "tuners." It sounded exceptional without running Dirac Live or even setting speaker level/distance correctly. So, I thought, not a bad investment. Then I found the secret. Dirac Live. Why? This application doesn't just eq or set levels or change time delay, it refocused the music and eliminated the room. It gives a clarity even if the listener is not in the center or in that sweet spot. It does this with practically any speakers. I am using restored Bose 901s, coupled to a restored Kenwood KR-7050 amp (both from 1979), no center channel, Klipsch Sub 10 and Boston Acoustics surrounds. This is as basic as one could get. I am only using surrounds plugged into the RZ50 receiver. Only 5 speakers in a small room not designed for home theater. Dirac Live calibrated the system and the audio now surrounds the listener, no matter where in the room. The room is "live." Sound is emanating from every. It is hard to tell where it comes from. The low end is rich from everywhere. It used to be in certain areas. Now it doesn't matter. That is simply not possible....or....is it? I am astounded. I bet it would be outrageous to have a theater set up with 11 speakers! But, I am still overjoyed with my current setup. If you were considering this receiver, for your room or theater set up, then buy it. If it can make my room come alive, it will make yours come alive as well.

Powerful featured pack AVR . Best Mid Priced out!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Previously ran Onkyo TXNR-636 with Klipsch R-820F, 504CRP, and R51 surrounds, with a remote Klipsch subwoofer. All midgrade but good. Screen is Samsung 75" QLED The 100 watts was nice but not quite enough for the big towers. They are full range towers and i have the crossovers at 50hz, and everything below going to the sub which is self powered. The extra 20 watts the upgraded 2.1 inputs make the system very powerful. The Dirac Room Correction is the cherry on top! After playing with it and setting several scenarios, one for more of the 400 sq. foot family room and the wide couch, one for 2 people and some tweaked from there, I can pull out the best of the equipment. Using the wide setting which was measured to cover about 8 feet of couch, makes the soundstage like a theater! The ss is wide and solid but you still have placement of sound. Its so cool to be able to filter the sound to the room as you see fit. It absolutely makes the speakers come alive for movies and streaming. Also you can use Pure Direct mode, and music is delivered as it was recorded which is a nice purist touch. Its nice to listen to unfiltered music also. The screen is bright and easy to see. Also the bluetooth connects in a few seconds. I still have the other receiver and older Eosone towers that i just may hook up and use for music if the wife lets me have 4 towers in the room lol. I know it would be beautiful over those 6 inch woofers. All in all the TX-RZ50 is a very capable and future proof av receiver. If it proves as reliable as the 636 which had daily use for over 8 years and it was bought refurbished, it will be a great buy! The downsides are very minor and dont affect my listening at all.
