Pushes all my speakers well, just wish that the update for a better dolby atmos experience wasnt an impossible task to do. Also when i ran evrything through the reciever via through earc, the resolution would kinda flicker at times like it was in between resolutions but couldnt decide what one to stick with. Good clean sound and plenty of power though on a positive note.

Easy to use, bright light decent sound and in budget range. Ours did stop working, had warranty,,,,that process sucked but JT at Best Buy helped us to finally get a new one after 7 weeks

This is an amazing receiver, sound is so good easily setup nice to look at , unfortunately it doesn’t have a phone input so the the sound had to be way up to get listening sound, ( not blasting sound still able to talk sound) so I returned it sadly. But for surround sound and cd players wow it’s amazing and price for what you get can’t beat it with any brand I have had all the pricy ones I am 65 grew up on the best rock and roll music. If you’re looking try this for anything but phonograph.

This receiver was the correct purchase for us. The ease of set up was great and it replaced the previous Onkyo seamlessly.
The included microphone and instructions led us through the setup in about 15 min. We will defiantly purchase another Onkyo in the future,

I've had the receiver for about 2 months. Sounds great and functions well. Setting it up was a breeze. Lot of good options built in. It's very nice that you can adjust the vocal setting. Only problem I have had is a lot of times when I am logging into and streaming app on my TV receiver will switch to the Blu-ray input. But I figure that's something I can look into and figure out why it's doing it

This receiver is good in a small room. I use this for my office so the receiver and speakers (2 channel) is 3 to 5 feet away. So I do not need to up the volume. I do plan to get better speakers. Has plenty of HDMI. Also an optical input which is what I use for my computer. This unit does not have wifi so if you need that you will need to look at another model. If you need a receiver for a bigger room or demanding speakers go for Onkyo RZ50. I have been using that one for 2 years and that is great for home theater.

Replaced a very expensive home theater system that was 25 years old and died. The Onkyo is affordable, has great HDMI connectivity and plenty of power to drive my large speakers. I run volume at 60% which seems high but there is still room to turn it up (don't need to). Good value a full of features.

I got this receiver as a replacement for my old one. Due to my new tv did not have an optical output. For a quick buy its bang for your buck with 7 channels and 2 subwoofer hookups and
Be able to handle dolby atmos is a good buy. I got mine as an open box and everything was with it packing and all no dents or scratches either im happy with it till time to upgrade

The Onkyo TX-SR494 7.2-Channel A/V Receiver is a solid choice for building a home theater setup without spending a fortune. It delivers powerful, immersive sound and supports modern formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, giving movies and music a true surround experience.
The receiver supports 7.2-channel output (or 5.2.2 Atmos setup), along with 4K HDR passthrough, so it pairs well with modern TVs and streaming devices.
Bluetooth connectivity is a nice bonus for easy music streaming, and setup is fairly straightforward even for beginners.
The main limitation is that it uses ARC instead of eARC, which may matter if you’re looking for the latest audio passthrough features.
Order and pickup were smooth, and the overall experience was hassle-free. I recommend Best Buy for purchasing this receiver.
Great option if you want a budget-friendly, immersive home theater experience.

Great sound, but having a real issue with eARC input from the LG OLED TV. I can get it configured and it sounds great, but when turned off and back on, it loses the connection. I even changed the cable connection to the TV and with that configuration - it lost the connection after a couple minutes, Very frustrating as the optical input isn''t as high quality as eARC.

Receiver arrived in perfect condition. I am an Onkyo fan and this 7.2 channel did not disappoint. Sound is awesome and it runs the two sub perfectly. And the price could not be beat. A great option and a great buy.

I really wanted to like this receiver but ultimately returned it. A dedicated set of buttons for source selection and tone control without the need for menus is a daily convenience unavailable in competitors. A decent array of inputs and the ability to handle 4K video and contemporary audio formats such as Atmos at this price point is attractive. Sadly, I could not get the HDMI ARC or CEC features to work with my Sony Bravia KDL-55W800C TV, which supports both features (for exchange of both audio and inter-device control via an HDMI connection). A full afternoon on the technical support sites of both companies yielded no solution, and I'm an electrical engineer and audio enthusiast. One other quibble is that it was difficult to determine if the device firmware was up to date - I kept getting cryptic error messages even following the instructions carefully (which involves downloading new firmware onto a USB stick - rather archaic). I never got to the point of evaluating sound quality. For many users these issues may not be deal-breakers, but they turned me away.

After 20 years with SR 502 I had to replace it with this one. This one puts out sound I’m use to however I had to return it after 2 weeks as it was overheating and kept powering on and off.Best Buy replaced it with no questions asked.New unit seems fine no overheating. I am still an ONK fan not ready to kick’s to the curb.
