Phone service as easy as 1, 2 and 3!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just like advertised. Hooked it up and plugged it in with the wires provided and worked beautifully after the sign-up process, all done on-line, getting a phone number, etc. In the middle of the phone number porting process now, which has been approved and looks like will take about two weeks to get my original phone number ported over.

MIRACLE MONEY SAVER
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife insist on a landline. My internet provider charged us $43.00/month - technically $22.00/mo plus fees and taxes. The provider was obviously using VoIP. Ooma is a miracle device that provides fully equal or better service for less than $9.00/mo in my area. Huge saving at least $400.00 a year!! Excellent customer service.

The best for VOIP
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're thinking of going VOIP, you should just stop and get Ooma. Just so simple to set up and so very reliable. This is the second one I purchased, this one for my father. I think in all the years I had Ooma, I only needed customer service once. Just one bit of advice. If you're going to port your current phone number to your new VOIP, DON'T DISCONNECT YOUR OLD SERVICE TILL THE NUMBER HAS PORTED. Your current carrier could be stinkers and spoil it for you.

Great Purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently made this purchase to get away from the bundled service offered by my cable provider. So far, everything has been great. the setup was very easy and the calls are crystal clear. My wife has family across the states. She has called and has had no problems. I'm in the process of porting my old number (which is free with the $9.99/mon upgraded service).

Landline for CHEAP!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup next to your home router, plug in with ethernet, and use a 1-5 handset DECT 6.0 system, and BOOM, you have a high quality landline phone anywhere in the house with a monthly cost of less than $9/month (you pay regulatory fees plus any international calls - if you enable those). Great service, great call blocking/filtering, voicemail included, 5/5.

Great call quality - spotty customer service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think this is our third unit - each has died shortly after the warranty expired. In fairness, usually after some sort of power event, but they were plugged into a UPS. The call quality is great and it's pretty easy to set up. Getting customer service to transfer your number to a new unit, is a whole different matter. When you mention the directions on the website, they tell you to do exactly the opposite.

Works Well
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We switched to AT&T Fiber and dropped cable Internet and their home phone service. Purchased the Ooma Telo and the Premier service for a year. That got our number ported over in a short time. Call quality is excellent, and the features with Premier is impressive.

Best unit to replace home landlines
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installing this unit is a snap, disconnect outside landline, run network line to your router, run from telephone jack to unit, sign up online and your up and running. Best thing is forwarding your home phone calls to your cell phones and the price under $5 a month local and long distance, I also hooked it up to my alarm system to call me in the event of an alarm. Should have done this a long time ago.

Great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using my Ooma service for three weeks now. I am SO PLEASED with this device. It is easy to setup. Just follow the setup guide that comes with the box and go to their website for the initial activation. Once that's done simply connect Ooma to your router and your phone to Ooma. 1. The only cost I pay monthly is $3.82 for government taxes required to use 911 emergency services. 2. The call quality is excellent. 3. You get caller ID, call waiting, and voicemail all for free 4. You get to choose from a list of available local phone numbers (I even ported or use my current number instead for $39.95 for a one time fee 5. Came in secure packaging with easy to follow instructions. 6. The lighted design on the top lets you know at a glance if your service is connected by shining an electric blue color. The small "play" button lights up orange when you have voicemail so you can easily see if you have new messages. 7. You are limited to five thousand minutes a month but you can pay the extra $10 per month for the premier level . Two people can simultaneously make outgoing calls (if you buy their $50 HD cordless handset)... Just as if you had two separate phone lines. Lots of perks that may or may not be worth the extra $10/month.

Great, but don't expect to use the $50
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ooma's setup suggests that the best location for this Ooma unit is between your cable modem and your router - it isn't, if you have anything faster than 100 Mbps (I have 500 Mbps). The Ooma is only good to 100 Mbps, so ALL of your internet will be slowed to 100 Mbps if you use their suggested setup. Just plug it into a spare router LAN connection and let it go to work. Why they continue to suggest their old placement, with most cable and fiber ISP's now far exceeding 100 Mbps, is a mystery. Additionally, I found Best Buy for my purchase through Ooma, who claimed that I would be credited $50 in my account by going through a friend's referral to them. I have the $50, and probably will have it for years to come, because the account they put it in can only be used to pay international charges and for optional equipment. I had to pay the porting fee to keep my number - almost $50 (would've been nice to apply it there). I fully understand a credit only for Ooma's services or products, but to then add additional narrow restrictions that it becomes virtually unusable for many people is misleading, at best. On the plus side, the audio quality is great (50 Mbps upload speed for my ISP). The porting of my number was fast and Ooma was accurate as to the final date. Paying just the monthly taxes for phone service is a huge reduction in my annual cost (a savings of close to $500), especially now that AT&T is trying to wiggle out of maintaining their landlines here in CA. I think the monthly taxes I'm paying are less than the fee AT&T wanted each month for Caller ID, which is free with Ooma. I use my own cordless phone with voicemail/caller ID instead of Ooma's system. I tested it and Ooma's works fine, but I'm already used to my system, so I'm staying with it. Ooma does let you do more with their web and cellphone app, but I don't need any of that - yet. Maybe after I get used to using my home phone again, it will be an advantage. If you want an alternative phone to a cellphone (great when cell service is down), this is an excellent, inexpensive way to go - just don't count on Ooma's "free" $50 to help you out on the startup costs. 5 stars minus 1 for the setup flaw and $50 vaporcash.

Ooma - Telo Internet Home Phone Service
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The setup was very simple. We did run into one hiccup when we plugged the internet cable into the wrong port on the back of the Ooma box. However, the ports were clearly labeled and we were able to recognize and quickly fix the issue. We plug our existing wireless phone base into the Ooma box and still use our same wireless phones around the house. We are working on porting our original phone number, but we were told that would take up to 30 days. I am very pleased with the overall cost, quality, and ease of use.

Easy setup. Can keep your old number for a fee
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ooma setup is pretty easy, especially if you pick a new number. You can keep your old number for an extra fee but the number has to be kept activated under the change is made. This apparently can take some time, at least in some cases. Quality of calls is excellent, and you can easily hook up a conventional phone. No problems so far though I have only had in operation a couple of weeks.

Easy Peasy
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old one at least 10 years broke after a power outage. It was pretty reliable. Bought this new hub. Replacing the old one with this was easy peasy. Provided some unit specific detail to the ooma rep via online chat. Less than a 24 hours later, the new unit was online and operational.

Love the Savings!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently switched from AT&T to Ooma and have cut my phone bill about 90%. The setup was extremely simple if you want Ooma to assign you a new phone number. I opted to pay the additional $40 to "port" my existing home phone number to Ooma which took about 10 days to transfer over. The only complaint is that the audio lag is about 1/10th of a second - not noticable to most though. Also, the buttons on the Ooma Telo box lag (e.g. voicemail playback, next, etc.) for a half-second or so. But overall, good product!

top pick for home phone service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I switched to ooma after using Comcast digital voice for many years and very pleased with ooma. The voice quality & features with ooma are excellent. I went with the premium service for the extras (mainly caller blacklist) and also the free number porting. The ooma setup & number porting were simple. However Comcast took their time (several weeks) to process the porting on their end. For a high quality home phone solution at a low cost ooma is a great choice.

Phone tree problem
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The device was easy to set up and porting our home number to Ooma went well. There is a problem though when calling a business and then pressing phone keys to navigate through the numerical prompts. 1 or 2 digits usually work but if several numbers are needed as in entering an account number, it never works. The business will not understand the keys being pressed. When I went to a website that can test this, it was seeing each key press twice. Apparently this is a DTMF issue. According to Ooma tech support they are aware of the issue and engineering is working on a fix but they don't know when or if it will be resolved. If dealing with business phone trees is a feature that you would use the Ooma for, I would hold off on buying one until they can confirm that the problem is fixed.
