Powerful new motor can be unforgiving on gums

I will start by saying i’ve been a long time Oral-B electric brush user for many years and have gone through a few of these which normally last a long time. I had the Genius 8000 Oral-B last and that was my favorite due to its rubberized grip - which was much better than this new series 9 super slick grip. Now on to the brushing performance-
I was initially BLOWN AWAY with the series 9 new motor as my teeth never felt so clean- so i immediately realized they changed this to use vibrations and spinning somehow. Whatever they did it was POWERFUL. so for the next 2 weeks or so i was originally brushing for 4 minutes but this brush always knows exactly how long you brush with its timer display- that is amazing on this one. so i immediately backed off to 2 minutes. Here’s where it gets interesting- after about 2 weeks - i noticed my gums started hurting and i could see they were receeding- as in they were starting to show less of my gums - weird right! so i remembered thinking this brush seems so much more powerful than my last,, so i changed the program from Daily Clean to Sensitive- and wow- HUGE difference- for me Sensitive is almost perfect and it doesn’t shred my gums the way Daily Clean did- but- after about a week, i did notice my teeth didn’t feel as clean even though my gums felt happier. so every now & then i need to go back to Daily Clean for a better clean even though i cannot stay on that setting as it shreds my gums too much. Overall this is a great brush - but it’s far from perfect as Braun needs to understand their new motor technology better.
I have seen another electric brush which automatically adjusts the pressure based on how you brush, and i wish i would have learned about that before i got this one. But my previous oral b was perfect. now with the series 9 i have to manually switch modes to prevent it from hurting my gums.

Works great. The app works well in tracking the areas you cover with your brush in real time. The powerful motor within the brush runs relatively quitely. Im enjoying this product.

Amazing tooth brush, is it pricey? yes absolutely it is, is it worth it? Yes absolutely it is. I had a cheaper model Oral B and I thought it was cleaning my teeth just fine until I tried this one and wow so much cleaner feeling!

Absolutely! You really need to try this. I thought my old toothbrush from the same brand was just fine and that I only needed to change the attachments every so often. Boy, was I wrong! This one leaves your teeth feeling so sparkly clean—it’s such a game-changer!

Best toothbrush ever. I really do get that dentist clean feeling every time I use it. It’s expensive as crap, but you get what you pay for. Maybe opt for the mode one step down since the regular brush modes are the same.

In the beginning, wasn't sure about buying this toothbrush but is definitely worth it. It cleans very well and has an app to tell you the zones and time to brush the areas. It has a lot of modes you can use as daily clean, sensitive, intense, whiten, gum care & tongue clean.

I’ve been using the Oral-B iO 9 for a little over two weeks. From the first session it was clear to me that this brush was getting my teeth much cleaner than the electric toothbrush I’d previously used. Running my tongue along the inner and outer surfaces of my teeth, I was surprised that they felt as smooth as after the professional cleanings I get 3 or 4 times per year.
For the first week, though, I had a hard time figuring out how to turn the brush, at what angles to hold it, and how much pressure to apply. My lower teeth are crooked and crowded. (My parents were told I needed braces, but balked at the idea.) It also feels like my jaw line is uneven. So I have to do a fair amount of manoeuvering to make full contact with all the surfaces. The great thing about this brush is that it tells me when I’m not making contact or I’m using too much pressure! Now I know why my oral hygienist tells me I need to do a better job on certain areas.
I’m somewhat disappointed with the instructions for using the brush. Certain things aren’t clear or thoroughly explained. For example, I use the tongue cleaning mode after my daily cleaning in the morning. It took a while for me to figure out that I’d lose the daily cleaning data unless I turned the brush off before starting in the new mode.
In other respects though, I’m extremely impressed with this product. It seems to be well worth its price tag!

After almost a month of ownership, this is a very big improvement compared to the Oral B genius X. The cleaning process is very effective. The brush are a lot softer and the little display is useful to check the remaining time. Battery life is okay, about a week or so. Now the only thing that will truely matter is the lifespan of this product. These guys usually last only about 2 years so I’ll update this review in the event it changes!

The Oral-B iO toothbrush offers an exceptional cleaning experience with its advanced oscillating-rotating technology, smart pressure sensor, and sleek design. The interactive display and real-time feedback make brushing more engaging, ensuring a thorough clean every time. Its high price point is justified by the premium features and noticeable improvements in oral health.

I bought this brush when it first came out, and while it did provide a great clean, it would only last 2-3 months for me. At first I thought I had a defective unit, so I returned it hoping the 2nd unit would be better, but of course I retuned that one too. I replaced this product a total of 3 times, hoping one would be better than the other, until i finally gave up on my 4th return. The toothbrush after 2-3 months would start to act weird or glitch by stopping and starting by itself while brushing my teeth, or if I leave it in the bathroom I would hear it going off by itself in the case, until I stopped it. There were also times the toothbrush wouldnt even turn on which was very irritating. On the last toothbrush I retuned the screen started to fade which never happened before along with the same glitching symptoms. I was not doing anythig out of the ordinary with it besides brushing my teeth, or that would cause such issues. This should not happen with a $300 toothbrush, and its a shame because this toothbrush is excellent at its intended purpose, but the product itself just doesnt last long, luckily I had the warranty on it.

I was skeptical this toothbrush would be worth the price but I’m pleasantly surprised. The cool/geek factor of the different modes and display is a bonus. Also, the magnetic charging base is very convenient and easy to clean. Hands down, the neatest thing ive found so far is the ios application that tracks your progress and shows you your brushing in real-time 3D. I thought it was kinda a gimick at first, but its strangly addictive and helpful. It leaves my teeth feeling dentist level clean every brushing session. Im impressed!

PROS:
Tracking. I purchased this brush primarily looking for a toothbrush that tracked my brushing. This one does it. If you watch the app while brushing, it shows your teeth (well, six teeth areas) and how well you are brushing them. I now brush every day for about three minutes. Before I got this brush, it was considerably shorter than that. And I was also more likely to miss spots without a tracker. So it improved my teeth hygiene considerably.
Spinning. The spinning brushes seem to do better than the vibrating toothbrush I was using. But you'd better not start the brush until it is INSIDE your mouth, or it will fling that toothpaste across the room.
Pressure monitor. I brush too hard. Always have. It wears out the bristles. Now the toothbrush reminds me of that every day with a bright red light that says "ease up on the pressure, dummy". If I ease up, the light turns green.
Style. It looks cool.
Cons:
Drool. Toothpaste and spit are sliding down the device, down my hand, arm, and finally elbow. Every. Day. Maybe the shaft is too thick? Maybe it has something to do with those hollowed out parts on the shaft? Maybe it's just unavoidable. Or user error. But it can get messy.
Phone use. I've gotta pull out my phone to watch my progress. How about making it easy to attach a little dedicated waterproof monitor?
Price. This is literally the cutting edge of toothbrushes. It came out a few months ago. But...wow. Not cheap.

The Oral-B iO series 9 is a fine machine - Oral-B technology, magnetic base charging, multiple settings, battery life indicator. This is the upgrade toothbrush for you.

Excellent toothbrush that will thoroughly clean your teeth. It is a very powerful toothbrush! With many settings to choose from, it is a very versatile toothbrush. The only drawbacks:
1. you have to have the app open to track your usage.
2. It is costly
