The FlossAction did not work for me. I still have to floss after brushing.
The SmartGuide is useless. It tells me to go to the next area of my mouth before I am done with the current area.

I purchased this after having a Sonicare I do not believe this cleaned my teeth as well as the Sonicare brush. The Oral-B system is just an alright toothbrush

This toothbrush does a superb job cleaning teeth! Leaves your teeth with that smooth, just had my teeth cleaned by the dentist, feeling. It does such a better job at cleaning than a manual brush, that it's in a whole different league. Now that I'm using the BraunI can't believe I waited so long to purchase an electric toothbrush! The timer and different brushing modes work very well.

Where is the vaunted German engineering?

I wanted the Oral B to be my new tech gadget that will solve an annoying problem with my Sonicare toothbrush. The Sonicare toothbrush signals quadrant changes every 30 seconds with a very short, almost imperceptible interruption of power. Why they did not signal with a clear duration of interruption of power is beyond me.
So I bought the Oral B which has a Smart Guide which shows the time and that will obviously tell me when to change quadrants.
Issue #1 incomplete documentation: I looked online to find out what battery the Smart guide used and there was no mention of it in the manual. No mention of it in the packing list. I wanted to know if I could use the rechargeable AA batteries I have but I did not find that out until I opened the box. Yes, there were two AA batteries in the box and yes, after the batteries died, I could use my rechargeable batteries. Small matter but an indicator of things to come.
Issue #2 wall mount removal from Smart Guide: I could not believe how hard it was to remove the wall mount from the Smart Guide. I am 67 years old and pretty strong but it took me a while. Why the tight fit? Bad first impression.
Issue #3 battery cover removal: I could not believe that after struggling to get the wall mount off, now I had to struggle to get the battery cover off. Bad second impression.
Issue #4 mode selection: The toothbrush defaults to the two minute cleaning but if you want a three minute cleaning you have to change the mode after you have the toothbrush in your mouth and after it is turned on. A few times the change did not take. Why not select a mode and have it latched prior to turning it on? As an engineer, I know why they did that. Easier and cheaper design for Braun but unfortunately lousy user interface. Strike 3.
Issue #5 toothbrush feel: when I brush, I feel like I have a block of wood in my mouth. It does not feel like a brush on the teeth and gum surfaces.
Issue #6 turning off: the toothbrush does not turn itself off???. Even after you finished the four quadrants, it keeps on going with a fifth star and then more. Why????
In summary I am very disappointed with the Oral B 5000. Where is the vaunted German engineering? They took short cuts with the design and messed up the user experience.
This Oral B toothbrush is going back to the store. I will keep my Sonicare.
