On concrete, in parking lots, etc. the otter box is not a bulky case but it definitely provides protection against scratches and cracked screen. My phone still looks like new.

Protection is great. I bought this one for my son's phone. He takes his off a lot, so the last one he had for 2 years started to wear quite a bit.

Initially it is hard to get the cover fit on to the phone due to the design. It is hard to press the power on button after getting the phone into the case. I am giving 3 stars due to the difficulty to switch on the phone after putting the cover.

Our apologies that the installation for the iPhone 5/5S/SE Commuter proved to be a little tricky! Occasionally, the side buttons on new cases can be a little inflexible at first, but they do tend to eventually relax. Accessing that power button should become easier with time and consistent use.

Outstanding protective case

Easy to install and provides protection for everything minus the screen. However a glass screen protector takes care of that issue.

Utilitarian in its looks, it ticks all the (Otter) boxes of things you're looking for in a case. Having used it for fours weeks I can honestly say it has saved my iPhone from being damaged numerous times. There are two things I like less: 1. You've really got to press down on the top on/off button for it to work. Reading other reviews, you'll notice this is a common complaint. 2. The rubber flaps keeping the headphone jack and lightning cable opening free from dust and lint are great but... they're a bit of a pain to open. Once you try to plug in your earbuds or a cable, these flaps are in the way. Otherwise, I feel my phone is quite safe in this commuter case, and I'll probably use it for many years to come.
