It does allow dust and dirt to slip under the face covering, and because the case is difficult to remove, it can be a bit of pain to clean it. Otherwise, a great case.

We apologize for any confusion with our product offerings, but that OtterBox Defender does come standard with the built-in screen protector. As it looks like you definitely wanted a belt clip/holster, and the Defender is our only case with that feature, so we might suggest that you remove the screen protector if your preference is for a case without one. If you remove your device from the case, you will find that you are able to peel the screen protector away from the lid with just a fair amount of force. Unfortunately it did not work at all. It simply would not fit despite the fact that it was for a 5c and the phone I had was for a 5c. The case would not click shut and the way the side was designed both volume buttons were being squished down. Ended up having to get a difference case that was twice the price to protect my phone.
