    Comfortable Health Tracker, Great App

First time Oura Ring user here but longtime wearer of heath tracking devices. I’ve known about Oura Ring for years but only now was motivated to try one. Simply put, I presumed, at best, it just duplicated my smart watch’s data. Recently though I developed an interest in tracking sleep data to improving my sleep. Problem was wearing a watch to bed is uncomfortable. Secondarily, there are occasions where I ditch my smart watch for a dress watch. The result is I look sharp but create a data gap for that evening and what good is data if it’s incomplete. A ring solves both of these problems so I decided to give Oura Ring 4 a test. OURA APP & MY EXPERIENCE USING IT I’ve only worn the Oura Ring 4 for a few days now but it’s already apparent to me it’s a great companion, not a competitor, to my Apple Watch as I thought it would be. In fact, it integrates with Apple Health and Strava to fine tune its performance boosting and wellbeing suggestions. Of course, whether to share all or part of your data with 3rd parties is only an option. It certainly offers excellent advice and insight either way. What I’ve realized wearing the Oura Ring 4 is that while it’s frequently portrayed as a “fitness tracker,” that’s a misnomer. I see it as a holistic wellbeing tracker with an emphasis on sleep quality. It goals it to give you information and awareness of what the body is saying to improve one’s overall health rather than to, say, boost athletic performance. If you track your athletic efforts a watch is still necessary for real-time information like pace, stride, heart rate zone. The ring doesn’t have GPS so it can’t even record your route without help from your phone. Where the Oura 4 Ring excels over smart watches is how it aggregates fitness activity with daily activity and sleep for a comprehensive picture of your wellbeing. It then explains its graphs and numbers and suggests how to improve or maintain. My watch collects and displays a lot of the same data but it does a poor job of telling me what to do with the information to make meaningful improvements to my life. That brings me to the Oura app. It’s replete with insightful information and is by far the best health data app I’ve ever used because it does explain (like I was five) what it all means. Concepts like sleep heart rate variability can be muddy but the app illustrates what a certain pattern means to your sleeping effectiveness, both for a specific night and long-term trends in an actionable way. I’ve worn sports and smart watches for years but only the Oura app showed me how my evening runs, not far from bedtime, might be interfering with getting quality sleep so I’ve started to run earlier. And I’ve only been using the ring for a few days so lots more for me to discover. This is just one instance of the app’s usefulness. It’s so data rich there is no way I could touch on every data point offered. But the key areas are daily “readiness,” “activity,” “heart rate” (including stress), and the aforementioned “sleep.” The app uses all of these to alert me when it’s time to go all out or take a beat and to forecast wellness issues. For example, it constantly monitors your heart rate and displays in a graph making it easy to discern between a trend and a one-off event or having to wade through a bunch of numbers. But there is a catch, or more accurately a cost. All this detailed knowledge is only available with a $5.99/mo. subscription. Non-subscribers only get general scores for the above categories which severely limits the ring’s usefulness. I detest how everything has gone subscription model and I do my best to avoid them. But $6/mo. for a deeper level of advice and knowledge about my health is digestible even if the ring itself is pricey. When I ask myself if I’d rather have an extra $6 each month or this information, Oura wins ever time. THE RING The Oura 4 ring itself, to me, is the first version that looks and feels more like jewelry than a tracker. Unlike previous models it’s all titanium and the sensors are flusher to the interior. There are a couple sand-sized bumps on the interior, but I don’t feel them wearing the ring. Oura says it’s water resistant. I’m not going to test that but I’ve had no problems when hand washing. The build-quality feels solid, and its slim silhouette (at least compared to older models) is so attractive that I often forget it’s a tracker not jewelry. I blindly ordered the brushed silver color and had no regrets after seeing it in real life when it arrived. It’s matte with a variable sheen as lighting conditions change. In indirect light it’s muted otherwise it does have a touch of shine. If you want something more subdued Stealth is a great option. I think either of these colors more attractive than the standard black and silver colors and worth the upcharge considering the ring will be worn almost 24/7. But that’s obviously a personal choice. By the way, the fit of my size 10 ring is just a touch looser than the equivalent test ring in the Aura Ring 4 fit kit. I can manually twist it around on my finger, but it doesn’t turn by itself. If you want a proper fit spend a day with the fit kit’s “dummy” ring. Oura says battery life is about a week. I don’t know the use case to get that performance. My ring’s battery consumption has been about 20% a day which would come to a 5 day lifespan. I charge mine daily while in the shower. A USB-C charger is included. I’m surprised it’s not Qi wireless as the Oura Ring 4’s competitors offer. Hopefully Oura will develop one as an accessory. I feel the ring’s charger should be as travel-friendly and convenient as the ring itself. FINAL WORDS Bottomline here is there are many reasons to buy the Oura 4. It’s great for people who don’t like smart watches, but also for people who do wear them. It seems counter intuitive maybe, but the Oura 4 and a smart watch really enhance each other plus it’s never bad to have multiple data sources to compare. But most of all Oura 4 ring is an outstanding and comfortable sleep tracker. The app is intuitive and does a magnificent job at actually teaching you about your health rather than leaving you to figure it all out, and isn’t that really the reason to have a health tracker in the first place?

Great device to track your readiness for the day. Easy setup and use. Design: It will look and feel big on your hand but once you wear it for a week, it actually isn't that bad. You'll get used to it. It does scratch quite easily but with care, I think it will last long. I have it for about 2 weeks now and I have very minor normal scratches on the bottom of the ring. I do not wear it during showers or when I was my hands. Usability and functionality: The information it provides is helpful to me. I have a history of pushing myself without letting my body heal or rest, which results into dizzy spells. By having this ring, it tracks my body's readiness and lets me know when I need to slow down. It does not track real time activities (e.g. running) but it can integrate or interface with other tracking apps like Strava (which is what I use for running). It will automatically receive the information from the Strava app and log it as an activity. The other features I like are the sleep and stress trackers. It gives me an idea of where I currently stand based on the data it receives. The longer you use it, the more accurate it will be. Overall, it's a great device to help you be mindful of your body!

Best purchase I’ve made for my health this year. The Oura Ring has completely changed how I understand my sleep, recovery, and overall wellness. It’s stylish, lightweight, and doesn’t feel like a bulky fitness tracker. The battery lasts days, and the data is incredibly accurate. If you’re into optimizing your body and performance, this is 100% worth it.

I recently purchased the Oura Ring 4 in black, size 9, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. The sizing kit made it very easy to find the perfect fit before ordering, which I really appreciated. The ring itself is sleek, comfortable to wear all day, and feels very high quality. The health and sleep tracking features are accurate and provide valuable insights that help me understand my daily habits better. Battery life is excellent, and the app is user-friendly with clear data and helpful tips. Overall, this is an outstanding product for anyone who wants to keep track of their wellness without wearing a bulky smartwatch. I’m very satisfied with my purchase and would definitely recommend the Oura Ring 4 to others!

Review: Oura Ring 4 after 2 months

I’ve been using the Oura Ring for about two months now and it has become one of those things I check every morning without even thinking about it. The biggest value for me has been sleep tracking. The data feels detailed without being overwhelming. I like seeing not just how long I slept, but how my sleep quality changes depending on when I go to bed, if I drink alcohol, or if I work out late. It made me more aware of small habits that affect how rested I feel. The readiness and activity scores are also helpful. I don’t follow them blindly, but they’re a good reality check. There were days I felt fine but the ring showed poor recovery, and later I noticed I actually did feel more tired than I thought. Over time I’ve started pacing workouts better and taking rest days more seriously. Comfort-wise, I was worried about wearing a ring 24/7, but it’s been surprisingly easy. I barely notice it while sleeping or working. The battery life has been solid too. I usually charge it about once every 5 to 6 days. The app is clean and easy to use, and the trends over time are what really make it useful. It’s not just numbers, it’s patterns, and that’s what helped me change a few habits. It’s not perfect. The subscription model is a downside, and sometimes the activity tracking isn’t as detailed as a full fitness watch. But for what it’s designed for, recovery, sleep, and general wellness, it does a really good job. Overall, I’m glad I bought it. It’s helped me be more intentional about sleep and recovery, and after two months I feel like I’m getting real value from it.

Oura Ring comfortable and NOT bulky

I was really worried about the ring being bulky but its not at all! Most of the time I forgetting I’m even wearing it until I go to use my left hand to twist off a soda or water bottle cap since I wear it on my left thumb. I debated about which hand and finger to wear it on and narrowed it down to my left hand and either my pointer finger or thumb. I bought the sizing kit and wore the size on each finger for a few days at seperate times. My thumb was the most comfortable for me, like I mentioned I forget I’m even wearing it until I randomly decide to use my non dominant hand to untwist a bottle. Typically the only time i take the ring off is for showers - usually I will set it on the charger during that time mostly so it doesn’t get lost. The battery so far has never even been low. The only reason i take it off for showers is more so habbit taking off all my rings during that time. Overall i am very happy with it so far. As for accuracy its pretty close to the data i get on my apple watch, it’s not 100% the same but for what I want it for it does the job which is better tracking my sleep and tracking my stress. For sleep I do notice if I am laying down completely relaxed but not sleeping yet it sometimes will say i was asleep or took a nap, other wise it’s pretty accurate tracking such if i wake up in the middle of the night. Overall its great for what i use it for - the subscription although does kind of suck its quite reasonable and, again for what I want the ring to do, worth it.

I cannot rave enough about how much I love this ring. Many people have seen it on my finger and asked how well it works and I always have great things to say about it. First off I will say that the sizing kit that you receive prior to the ring is really accurate. The actual ring fit just as the sizing ring did. The ring looks thick, but it is actually very comfortable and I even forget it's on my finger sometimes. That is a huge bonus that I was not expecting. I went with the rose gold color and I love it! I love that the ring fits perfectly snug on my index finger but it also fits on my middle finger. I can switch it if for any reason it starts to bug me on my index finger, but so far I have not had that problem after wearing it for over a week. It only took about 45 minutes to charge and lasts me 7 days. I love that you will get a warning to charge it later in the day before bed time when the battery is low. The app has some great features and tells you about your sleep regimen, how long you are in REM sleep, how long it takes until you fall asleep, deep sleep time and more. It scores the different features and tells you what those scores mean and ways to improve. It also tracks your activity and how many calories you are burning, your heart rate during all periods. It measures your stress level based on the other activities and your body temperature throughout the day. This is such a great ring and the best part about it is you don't have to take it off except when you need to charge it (45minutes give or take) every week. It's very comfortable to wear and comes in different colors. It can be submerged in water so you can wear it while you shower or if you go swimming. Just make sure it does not get loose when you are in water if, like me, you do not like to wear tight rings but a semi snug fit works better. I have worn it while washing dishes, showering, doing yard work and many other activities. The ring color still looks great and its very easy to wipe and clean with a dry cloth. I would def recommend this ring to everyone. It is so useful and gives such great information. The longer you have the ring, the more information can be measured over a longer period of time.

The Oura Ring Gen 4 (Black) is one of the most impressive wellness devices I’ve used. It delivers deep health insights in a sleek, lightweight design that you forget you’re even wearing. Unlike bulky watches, it’s comfortable enough for 24/7 use—especially during sleep, where it truly shines. Sleep tracking is incredibly detailed and accurate, breaking down sleep stages, recovery, readiness, and trends in a way that’s easy to understand and actually useful. The daily readiness score helps me decide when to push hard or prioritize recovery, which has been a game changer for energy and consistency. I also appreciate the long battery life and premium black finish—it looks modern, minimal, and works with any style. The app is intuitive, well-designed, and constantly evolving with meaningful updates rather than gimmicks. The only downside is the subscription requirement, but the value of the insights more than makes up for it. If you care about sleep, recovery, and overall health—not just step counts—this ring is worth it. Overall, the Oura Ring Gen 4 is a powerful, discreet health companion and one of the best wellness investments you can make.

I really like this ring. The color is aesthetic, and the entire nature of it is easy to use. It looks good with every outfit, and it matches everything. I paired it with the Ark phone case, and now I feel like I have a great duo on my hand. The battery life is amazing, and I love opening the app every single morning and night to see what I need to work on the next day. I mostly use it to track my sleep, and the deal I got on this ring on Black Friday was amazing; almost $200 bucks off. I highly recommend the sizing kit so that you really know what size to get. I got the size 11 and first checked with the sizing kit if it's really my size, and then I found out that you need to get the Oura ring one size bigger that what you are. Best purchase ever! I highly recommend it.

The Oura Ring 4 has been a fascinating addition to my long list of gadgets and technologies. It provides a great deal of insight into my health habits and is especially useful as a sleep tracker. It is very interesting to review your sleep patterns from the night before or previously to see how well you actually slept and what types and amounts of sleep you got. The Oura app is easy to use and functions very well and displays the collected data in very easy to understand ways. The battery life is very good and I usually charge it while getting ready and showering as recommended. This keeps it topped off, but it will last for about a week on a full charge. It is very durable and I’ve had it immersed in both fresh and salt water with no issues at all. The new design with the smaller protrusions for the sensors is very comfortable. All-in-all, it’s a great device and I really enjoy the information that it provides so that I can work to improve my health.

Oura Ring 4 - Fitness on your finger

The Oura Ring 4 is an amazing piece of technology that fits on your finger. Ever wondered how well you sleep? Do you toss and turn at night or what's your temperature while you're sleeping? Do you snore, or have interruptions that maybe you don't notice? The Oura Ring 4 will help answer these questions as well as do a lot more. Tracking your pulse, your movement and exercise, interacting seamlessly with Apple Fitness, and cycle tracking. Download the app and start learning about your health! There is a subscription for the app, but you do get a trial. Make sure you get the sizing kit first too - that's a must as you'll want to make sure it fits properly. The instructions say best results on your first finger, or pointer so that's where I have it. In the last two weeks I've been monitoring my sleeping patterns as well as my exercise and heart rate. It is interesting to see my scores from day to day and understand how my sleep patterns affect my awake time. LIttle reminders are sent to let you know when it's time to start unwinding for bed or to encourage you to continue to be active. The charger is super fast, and you'll know when it's completely charged because the light will turn green and you'll get an alert on your phone. I place it on the charger when I take a shower and by the time I'm done it's usually fully charged. I've also gone a couple days without charging and battery life has been great. If you are looking for a new tool or gadget to help you track your fitness levels, sleep, and cycle (for women) then this is a fun tool to have and use. Using it alone or in conjunction with another fitness app gives you great insight into how your body is doing. Overall if you're interested in this type of technology, you should totally check it out - once you have it and use it you'll like it.

I didn’t expect to love a ring this much… and yet here we are. My Oura Ring quietly judges my sleep, cheers me on when I move my body, and gently reminds me that maybe my third cup of coffee at 4pm wasn’t my best decision. It’s like having a tiny wellness coach that lives on my finger and never yells at me. I love how unobtrusive it is—no bulky watch, no buzzing notifications—just clean insights that actually make sense. The readiness score alone has saved me from overdoing it on days when I thought I was fine (spoiler: I was not). Bonus points for the battery life, the sleek design, and the fact that it somehow knows when I’m stressed before I do. A little creepy? Maybe. Incredibly helpful? Absolutely. 10/10 would let this ring continue to monitor my sleep and life choices.

As someone who struggles with bulky fitness trackers and watches, the Oura Ring 4 has been a revelation. Its discreet design and incredible comfort are, without a doubt, its biggest selling points. This is the first health tracker I've truly been able to wear 24/7 without ever feeling like it's getting in the way. The comfort improvements over previous generations are immediately noticeable. Oura flattened the internal sensor bumps on the Gen 4, making the inside of the ring perfectly smooth. This is a game-changer. The ring slips easily over the knuckle and, once on, it feels like a piece of regular jewelry rather than a tech gadget. I've worn it while washing dishes, gardening, typing all day, and, most importantly, sleeping—and I genuinely forget it's there. This seamless wearability is what makes the Oura Ring 4 so effective. Because it never feels cumbersome, there's no motivation loss or decision fatigue about putting it on. It just stays on, collecting highly accurate data on sleep, readiness, and stress without any conscious effort from my side. If you're looking for world-class sleep and recovery tracking without the distraction of a smartwatch, the Oura Ring 4’s elegant design and effortless comfort make it the best wearable choice on the market.

I have had wearable health and fitness devices for many years, from simple pedometers to various iPhone and Apple Watch apps with many features. The Oura Ring 4 seems to have reached far beyond, and in a small, supremely convenient package. It is true what I read - it is easy to forget that you are wearing it at all. The charger (photo 1) is small and well-suited to the ring. I think if I were designing it, I would have given the base a magnet for convenience. I have not given a lower rating because of this. The Ring 4 does not have to be oriented to operate, but it does read better when the optical sensors (photo 2) are over fleshier areas of the finger (typically the underside). Optimal alignment is easy by keeping the groove on the outer ring surface (photo 3) on the palm side of the finger. The Oura iPhone app is pretty good. I have mixed feelings about its positioning itself to being the center of your complete health and well-being. It covers everything from exercise ("activity") to sleep to "readiness" and "resiliance," which I have not yet completely deciphered. I would have liked to be able to go straight to statistics of interest without having to drill down through a bunch of menus. A "favorites" button would go a long way here. Pros: Long battery life. The Ring 4 looks like it will keep a charge for at least five days, probably a week. Documentation suggests that it may be usable for eight days from a full charge. Charging is pretty fast - documentation says 20-80 minutes. I'm assumming the 80 minute figure is for charging from empty to full charge. One thing I like to keep track of is my heart rate; the Oura app makes it fast and easy to get statistics with a single tap from the main page. Finally, the Oura app "gets" that I work nights, and understands that my activity (LOTS of walking) and sleep schedules do not take place during traditional hours. Cons: As mentioned before, I would like to be able to have a few topics/statistics available from a front-page "Favorites" menu, but there is no such thing. Hopefully that will be a available in a future update. It is my understanding that the Oura Ring 4 can capture pulse oximetry - percentage of oxygenated blood - but it is as yet an elusive number.

I’ve been wearing my new Aura Ring for a few weeks now and I’m honestly blown away. The sleep tracking alone is worth it — the insights are detailed but easy to understand, and I’ve already made small changes that noticeably improved how I feel during the day. Not only does it eliminate some of the annoyances of the Oura Ring 3 that I will mention, but it just seems to integrate perfectly into my active and on the go lifestyle. I am also an Apple Watch user, but I find that I am inconsistent about wearing my Apple watch all day and I strongly dislike wearing watches in bed. Therefore, a fitness/health ring is exactly what I needed to get full 24 hour, go anywhere health metrics information and to keep myself accountable to my fitness goals like total daily steps. Unboxing and set-up: As with the Oura Ring 3, OURA has managed to ensure that the packaging is minimal, discrete, and environmentally friendly. In the box were some printed instructions, the ring, the excellent and sturdy charging base, and the USB-C charging cable. Set up with the Oura app was ultra simple with step-by-step instructions to get you started. I selected to integrate the Oura app with my Apple Health app and information to keep health metrics updated across the board. As a note, if you are interested in getting a spare Oura Ring charger, they are size and model specific but can be acquired for around $60 on the Oura website for this ring. With the insane battery life though, I am adequately assured I will have no need for a spare charger at this time. Ring Build quality: This Oura Ring 4 is a MAJOR upgrade from the Oura Ring 3. It is thinner, seems to be made in a sturdier manner with full titanium (e.g., feels less “plastic-y”) and it does not have the annoying and often painful prominent internal sensor nubs of the Oura Ring 3. It is smooth inside and out with recessed sensors (opposite of protruding!) and is overall incredibly discrete, save for one small vertical indented line on the outside surface to help you visually and tactilely line up the ring’s sensors centered on the palm side of your finger as Oura recommends. The stealth finish of this ring is incredibly handsome and, from a distance, could easily be mistaken as a high-quality tungsten ring or other darker-finish metal ring. I elected to use the measuring kit to fit my Oura ring to my ring finger on my left hand to replace my preferred silicon wedding bands I normally wear as a frequent gym goer and vehicle enthusiast. The stealth finish has thus far held up really well to the stresses of the gym, but it is unfortunately getting some light scratches on the outside surfaces from the knurling on barbells and dumbbells. Oura themselves recommends that users wanting to avoid scratches may want to remove the ring during weightlifting sessions. I think this is reasonable and leaves it up to the user whether they care that much about the aesthetics of the ring or not. Maybe one day they will make a premium finish that is designed for the rigors that individuals like mechanics and weightlifters will put their rings through. Fitness Monitoring: As far as my testing has gone, I feel that this ring is highly accurate in both its counts of steps and its measurement of HR and blood oxygenation. I work in the medical field, and I have access to medical grade vital measurement devices, and thus far this ring is always within margin of error accurate on HR and blood oxygenation. Whatever witchcraft gyrometric technology they have built into this ring; my step counts seem to be in line with my Apple Watch if not sometimes higher by a few hundred steps a day. This works for me and again, because this ring is on my hand almost every hour of every week, I prefer the step counts I am getting from it. I am on an active health journey (16 pounds lost so far!) and aim for 7,000-10,000 steps a day. This watch helps me keep those steps counted and even encourages me to do more if I am well rested and I have a high readiness score on the app. I like this feature as it sort of feels like having a personal wellness coach right to hand at all times. I have used the ring to measure my VO2 max score and I got 44 (woohoo!) doing their 6-minute walking test in the app. It will be great to track my VO2 max as the current great thinkers in medicine like Dr. Peter Atilla highly emphasize high VO2 max as a health metric for longevity. The ring also does a reasonably good job of tracking my workouts. My Apple Workouts flow into the Oura app via the Health app integration. I sometimes find that, unfortunately, the Health app information sends over my phone’s data and not my watch’s workout data, which means that in activities like weightlifting where my phone is rarely on my body, I get severely under-measured calorie burn that can’t be edited in the Oura app. My solution to this is to use the Oura ring app’s “record workout HR” feature and to just select walking (there is no weightlifting support for activities monitored yet) while I am in my weightlifting sessions. The calories burned that the Oura app tracks as well as HR measurement line up with my Apple watch Workout tracker and have given me the confidence to start leaving the Apple watch at home and track with my ring only. Health monitoring: I will not go into detail of every feature of the app, but there are a couple of key developments in the app that I am really coming to appreciate. One is the tracking of daytime stress and recovery. The Oura ring has helped me realize that in spite of my generally low resting HR, the ring is detecting I spend time in the “stressed zone” a lot of the day and do not relax much at all, let alone get any daytime restoration. I am going to start using this information to be more intentional about working in relaxation time during the day and to try to even meditate during my lunches as a means to slough some of my stress off. As for how the ring tracks my sleep, it subjectively seems very accurate to me. I can certainly see the difference in the nights when it is my turn to look after our 6-month-old and I am getting up 2 or 3 times a night to do baby cares, versus the nights I sleep through the night. This ring has other useful health features that will interest most people. One is that you can opt to select nighttime blood oxygen monitoring. This can be useful for detecting if you are possible dealing with sleep apnea or other nocturnal hypoxic events that need further screening and consultation with your medical provider. This comes at the cost of reduced battery life, but to me it is worth it. This ring also is capable of tracking body temperature which can be useful for tracking whether you are possibly becoming sick and can also help females monitor their menstrual cycle. Altogether, this ring is a perfect fitness and overall health device that I think will interest many people, particularly in terms of the upgrade of this ring model in quality and battery life. As a healthcare worker and fitness enthusiast, I have no critiques to offer, only excitement and enthusiasm to have this ring in my health monitoring arsenal! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy your purchase! Remember to get the ring fitment kit first to determine what the right size is for you since they ring sizes do not always perfectly match up with typical wedding band size etc.
