I was curious about the Oura ring and had the opportunity to test the ceramic version. I selected the midnight color. I wish that I’d selected cloud instead of midnight. With the shine of the ceramic, the blue isn’t as deep as I’d hoped, but it’s not bright, so it’s a dark blue still. The ring is a bit bulky to me, but generally is comfortable. I have sensitive skin and it hasn’t bothered my skin, even wearing it pretty much 24/7 for a week, in the shower, to sleep, etc. I like that the ring is simple to wear for sleep tracking. It’s then easy to keep it on so that I don’t have to slip on my watch and get my watchband sweaty for my morning workout to be able to track my calories burned. The app has shown when it thinks I’ve worked out (I have elliptical marked as an activity that I usually do), and allowed me to edit it if I needed to before confirming the activity (once I did need to edit it, as it had my workout 20 minutes too long). It even recognized my yard work as yard work. One of the reasons I was curious about a ring as a tracker was for this, as I don’t wear my smart watch to do yard work or other sweaty outdoorsy stuff, and I’ve been curious about how many calories I burn. The data I get on sleep includes the different stages of sleep as well as awake time, and the ring was pretty good at recognizing my bedtimes and wake up. I liked that I could see when I was restless and had oxygen drops, and that it gives you a notice about issues. It tells you (note: you must have the subscription) total sleep, efficiency, resting heart rate, restfulness, latency, and the time in each stage of sleep. While you get your average oxygen saturation, I wish that it would show more detail and match up my oxygen levels to when it said I had variations, so I could see what kind of drop I had, and what my other stats were at the time. While Oura gives some good stats (if you pay for the subscription), and is convenient to wear, for the $500 price I would have to see the data details be included without having to pay a monthly subscription before I’d recommend it with a $500 price tag. To get much good out of the ring you have to purchase a $70/year subscription ($72/year if you do it monthly instead of annually). The three scores without the subscription don’t mean much, in my opinion. If I can’t see my data, I don’t see the purpose of having the ring. If it still sent my calories burned and workout heart rate to my Health app without a subscription, that would be a boon. Even using it just one year, a $500 ring becomes a $570 ring. I’d say wait for a big sale, or go for the non-ceramic, if you’re interested in the convenience a ring gives you, or if you don’t wear a smart watch (or wear one very often) and want to track your fitness and sleep throughout the day and night. The high cost caused me to knock off a star. The ring does a good job tracking and reporting, but you need the subscription to get that info, so keep that in mind.

I’ve been interested in Oura health and fitness rings for a while. So when I had the chance to test their newest ring, I was elated! I was particularly wanting to monitor my sleep patterns, heart rate, while also using the device to help manage my stress. The ring itself is beautiful. It’s really comfortable to wear, all day and night. I only take it off to wash my hands, do the dishes or shower, and it is then that I put it on its lovely little charger. Though I do have a ‘smart watch’, I choose to give my wrist a break from continually wearing it during the night. Now I am able to wear this ring to track my sleep, breathing, and heart rates with the Oura instead. In addition, you can connect the ring to other health and fitness apps, as well as, the Oura app itself. The Oura app is well organized and easy to navigate. It seems to update my information regularly, without any “glitchy” delays I’ve experienced with some other health/fitness apps. At a glance you can check your Vitals - Readiness score, Sleep breakdown, Activity Goals progress, Daytime Heart Rate monitoring, and Daytime Stress levels. You can even add an activity, record a workout heart rate, and log a meal in your Timeline section. There are also helpful research study articles you can read to educate yourself concerning the areas you want to focus on using your Oura ring. Once you’ve worn your Oura every day for a week, the ring will be able to Calibrate more about your health and fitness patterns. Every morning I’m actually excited to review my previous night’s sleep record, including my blood oxygen levels. I still need to get into a regular habit of recording my meals, but that will come with time. I’ve done this before, using a different health app, so it’s just a matter of adding that to my daily routine. A particular feature I’m fascinated to learn more about, and potentially participate in, is Oura Labs. I’m quite looking forward to being notified when a new experimental feature will become available for me to try out and evaluate. While the Oura Ring 4 is somewhat expensive, if you are considering purchasing one, think of this device as more than just a ‘fitness ring,’ but rather as a long-term investment to better assist you with improving your overall health. In addition, the $5.99/month or $69.99/annual cost of the Oura Membership is more than fair.

The ceramic coating on the Oura Ring makes it look and feel more like jewelry than an electronic monitoring device. I have worn my Oura Ring for about a week now and I have gotten mixed results with it especially when it comes to being able to interpret my exercise results in the mobile app. When monitoring daily activities like walking and doing simple task or sleeping it seems to be reasonably accurate but with cardio/aerobic workouts I find it less informative. I feel the ring is more of a data gathering device that over time provides insight into your overall health. It doesn’t provide real time data during an activity and I don’t feel that it provides enough post exercise information that can be used to improve fitness. The Oura app can be overwhelming and the yearly subscription cost may make it a big negative for some. Bottom line is I would recommend the Oura ring for someone who is more interested in their overall health status. I would not recommend it for someone who is mainly concerned about their exercise fitness. Sleeping: So far I think the ring has been fairly accurate when it comes to monitoring my sleep data. I had one night where the ring was nearly 2 hours late starting my sleep cycle and I assume that was because the ring rotated off center and thus didn’t record the information properly. Because of this I have become more vigilante on the ring’s alignment and this not necessarily a good thing. On the plus side it hasn’t confused my inactivity while reading at night as going to sleep and it has captured my afternoon naps accurately when I take one longer than 15 minutes. Exercise: I wear the ring everywhere I go including the gym and so far no scratches or mars to the finish. When I go to the gym I don’t take my phone with me, I rely on my iwatch and this can be an issue. If my activities are not recognized by the ring I have to add them manually in the app when I get home and doing this can definitely impact the accuracy of the workout data. The ring does not recognize my indoor bike training and while it does captures the heart rate data it seems to be lower/less responsive than the levels my other devices report. I have about a 50/50 chance of the ring recognizing the elliptical workouts but no luck at all having it recognize strength training workouts. What is funny is that it has recognized me doing “housework” and yardwork activities due to an elevated heart rate and motion. Fit and Feel: The ring is thick and has some weight to it. The recommendation is to wear it on one of your first three fingers but I found wearing it on my index finger like they show in the ads to be more problematic because I lead with my index finger area when reaching which means it hits more things. I highly recommend getting the ring sizing kit and wear the sizing ring for a couple of days to figure out which finger fits best and wont impede your hand motions. The ceramic coating feels very smooth and really shines but I do worry about dinging it on something. So far I have worn it to do housework, yard work, at the gym and on the bike all without any scratches. I’ve had it in soap and water as well as covered in hand sanitizer without any issues. There is a small notch/indent on the ring that should face your palm for proper alignment. In the dark this can be more difficult to verify especially if you are in bed. My ring fits reasonably tight but due to the smooth surface it does rotate so I find myself checking it often. Overall the fit and feel of this ring is good and not an issue. Oura App: The Oura app has four primary health categories: Readiness, Sleep, Activity and Heart Rate. It then uses the data from the ring to assign a number value and a little icon to indicate what it believes your health value for that category is. Oura explains what data contributes to the calculation without disclosing the algorithm. If you want to get more specific information on the category or its contributors you have to go into the subcategory pages. Bottom line is that this app has lots of graphs and subcategories that at times make it more difficult to get to the actual information that I as a user want to see. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t find the app very intuitive and it is inundate with so many subcategories that it becomes difficult to figure out where the really important information is located. Hopefully with time I will be able to figure out the app but so far it’s been a frustration.

This is a fantastic product! I’ve worn it for about a week now and it’s given me fantastic insight into a variety of my health concerns including sleep quality and stress levels. Setup was super easy and charging takes a few minutes for 4-5 days worth of data collecting. The ring is insanely comfortable, and I’ve had several compliments on its look even in the first week of ownership. I was concerned about a ceramic ring’s durability, but that concern was not needed. This is built like a tank and hasn’t shown a single scratch despite banging into doorknobs, doing dishes, or even yardwork. Comparing its data to that collected by my Apple Watch over the same time period, the two are roughly within 5% of each other, so I’m reassured about the accuracy of the readings, and this lets me keep my watch recharging at night without fear of losing crucial health data. Setting up the ring and the app was super simple. It pairs in seconds and the rest is just typical sign-up info like any other new account. Easy for anyone of any age to set up and start their journey to a healthier lifestyle. Strongly recommend!!!!!!

Upgraded from the silver Oura 3 to the ceramic Oura 4 and I’m so happy I did!!! The ceramic is gorgeous and does not show any scratches. 2 months later and it looks brand new! The battery life is also fantastic!! Love all the features Oura offers, especially sleep tracking.

My Overall Impression The Oura Ring 4 Ceramic seems nice, but I don’t know how much I trust the data it gathers. The app presentation is confusing. I do like the new midnight blue color that became available for the fall of 2025. What’s New The Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is an updated version of the Oura Ring 4 with new colors for the fall of 2025. The four new colors available are: cloud, tide, pet and midnight blue. I have the midnight blue which is a dark navy color with a gray hue. I like the color more than I expected and it seems to match well with a lot of the clothes that I wear. The Setup There’s not a lot to the set up. My ring arrived with around an 80% charge. You download the Oura app and connect the ring through Bluetooth. A key thing to know about the Oura Ring 4 is that you are required to activate a subscription to use it. More about that later. Once the subscription has been set up you can continue in the app. The app will ask you questions about your goals of how you expect to use your ring. Once everything is complete, the ring will continue to communicate with the phone sending it data to process. Oura Subscription You can’t just wear the Oura Ring and collect data. You are required to activate a subscription of which there are currently two choices: an Annual or a Monthly. That subscription takes the data and not only stores it but also interprets it in various ways. I didn’t know that a subscription was required to use this, so I was really surprised that I had to pay (after the initial 1 month trial) to use my new wearable tech. Data Collection I’m not going to name every type of data that the ring collects, but some of the data points are expected such as temperature, heart rate, and steps. Other things measured such as sleep time, sleep efficiency, heart rate variability, activity rates (calories burned), and stress are monitored, but I am not sure how they are determined. I have been able to determine that some of the data appears to be incorrect. • Steps – I also wear a smart watch that monitors steps. I chose a highly active day and compared the two step counts. My watch was 1600 steps higher than the ring. With as active as I was, I believe the watch. • Stress – Supposedly this ring can detect stress levels. I know that I have had several high stress moments today, and they are not reflected correctly in my chart / graph. Other Data Input The Oura Ring 4 allows for some manual input and connected input. Meals – You can log in meals. Activities – You can log in specific activities. Glucose – You can link certain glucose monitors to the app. The overall goal for the app appears to be that it’s a final collection point and it will process and connect the data together for a more complete picture of what’s happening with your health. It will also provide recommendations for ways to change your health or tell you that what you are doing is good overall. Data Presentation The data presentation needs work. I can tell that certain data types have been grouped together to create a narrative for that component of your health, but the way that it’s graphically shown could be better. There’s usually a graphic showing a bar with your high and low points. You can press a spot on the graph and it will create a line showing information at that point in time. The problem is that point of time may represent 15-30 minutes instead of the minute that you want to measure. It is particularly frustrating when you want to see the high or low points of the graph, but it doesn’t snap to them. Also, I’ve been using the ring for about a week, and certain data point still haven’t populated. Charging The Oura Ring 4 comes with a charging stand. It connects using a USB-C to USB-C cable that’s over 3 feet long. This model is expected to run 5 to 8 days on a full charge. My experience was similar to that. Final Conclusion I am giving the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic a 3 star rating. I like the new color, and it’s a neat idea. However, I’m not sure that I trust the data that I am seeing and there’s a required subscription just to use it.

I upgraded to the ceramic mostly for looks. Yes it's less prone to scratches, but honestly, my brushed silver didn't have many noticeable scratches in the year plus I wore it. Is it worth the extra hundred, likely not, but I do love the Midnight color so I splurged. As far as battery life, it's comparable to my previous Oura Gen4. I feel like it's holding it's charge somewhat longer then the old ring did when new, but it's hard to remember. Unfortunately, my old ring was no longer consistently syncing, about every other day, and was three months past it's one year warranty, so I had to buy new. I just don't know enough about the other brands to not go with Oura again. Hopefully this one outlasts the first. As far as performance; this ring is fantastic at tracking sleep and that is primarily what I use it for. It also does a good job tracking steps, activity, and for women, your cycle and even your menopause journey if you choose. To me it's worth the $6.49 subscription but everyone has to choose for themselves on that!

I’ve been a huge fan of the oura ring for quite some time. I’ve had my generation 3 ring for years and have loved the health insights its given me over that time. The generation 4 rings have been out for a while and I didn’t upgrade until Oura’s newest release, the Oura ring 4 Ceramic. I was thinking about upgrading, but when I saw the colors, I knew I wouldn’t continue to resist the urge for a change. Similar to before, the oura ring ships in a small box. It comes with everything you need to get started. Of course you get the ring. There is also a redesigned charging base, at least compared to the generation 3 ring I had. You also get a USB-C to USB-C charging cord. Once you have the base plugged in and the ring on the charger, you are ready to go. With all things technology related, there’s an app to download. With the oura app downloaded and the ring on the charger, you’ll be able to easily connect your ring to your account in the app. When you put the ring on the charger, it will go into Bluetooth search mode and you use the oura app to guide you in the connection. It takes all of 30 second to 1 minute and you can put your ring on and begin your tracking journey. The 4th generation oura rings added improved sensors, called smart sensing, compared to the 3rd generation rings, which allow the oura ring to track 50+ health metrics, and give it the ability to add new features/metrics in the future. In the simplest terms, the oura ring and the app will track and measure your bio stats in 3 categories, giving you a daily score. Every day you’ll get a readiness score, a sleep score, and an activity score. With the add on oura membership, you get significantly more insight into your data on sleep, overall health, heart health, body temperature tracking, trends over time, and more. The membership is a nice to have, not an absolute must, but you will get a lot less info about your bio stats and limit the usefulness of the ring overall. All of this is the same for all of the 4th generation rings. The “old” 4th generation rings come in several metallic colors. The “new” 4th generation ceramic rings come in four beautiful colors, that all stand out and pop. It’s much more eye catching than the same old same old silver or gold that have been around for years. While I was a fan of all 4 colors, I love the midnight color, and that’s what I’ve got now. It’s a deep blue and it’s gorgeous. The ceramic finish looks better, the oura ring ceramic fits better, and feels like an improvement over the materials and finishes on other oura rings. Truth be told, from a functional standpoint, there is no difference I am aware of across the entire 4th generation ring family. It’s the same sensors, the same 5-8 day battery life, same connection and interaction with the app. If you are new to oura or are using a 3rd generation ring, the new ring will be an improvement in all of those areas. Beauty is ultimately in the eye of the beholder and you’ll have to decide whether the aesthetics of the oura ring ceramic are worth the extra money, because it’s all about the finish in this new offering. All I can say is the oura ring ceramic is a beautifully made tech item that is worth a look and a touch, but you might not be able to take your eye off of it, put it down, or take it off.

I bought the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic in Cloud (size 10), expecting a fancy step counter. Instead, I got a tiny life coach that politely informs me that going to bed at 1:00 AM and calling it "self-care" is not, in fact, a recovery strategy. The Cloud color looks sleek and modern -somewhere between futuristic technology and "I definitely have my life together" jewelry. Friends think it's a stylish ring; little do they know it's secretly judging my sleep habits. The sizing kit was absolutely worth it. Apparently, my fingers have different opinions about what "size 10" means depending on the weather, how much pizza I ate, and whether Mercury is in retrograde. Battery life is impressive, and the sleep insights are both fascinating and mildly humbling. I've learned that eight hours in bed and eight hours of actual sleep are two very different things. Overall, it's comfortable, beautiful, and surprisingly motivating. The only downside is that now I have one more device reminding me that I should probably go to bed earlier. Oura deserves credit for creating the only piece of jewelry that knows I'm tired before I do.

The color is very nice. It's a soft pink color. I got this one to replace my original Stealth color after i lost weight. Works great. Sturdy so far. No complaints. Will definitely buy again

I have absolutely loved this! More accurate than my Apple Watch was and I love that I can wear it day and night. I usually charge it while I shower and the ring hasn’t died. Extremely comfortable.
