As a nurse with POTS I find my oura ring to be something I can’t live without. It helps me interpret what’s going on with my body as i’m not the best at listening to when I should go or when I should rest. I will say it does scratch very easily but that doesn’t bother me. I love my oura ring!

I’ve been using the Oura Ring 4 and love how low-key but powerful it is. It gives me super detailed sleep and recovery data without needing to wear a bulky watch. Battery life is great, and I barely feel it on. Only downside is the monthly subscription—but honestly, the insights are worth it.

I’d give it 5 stars, but the one I bought ended up having battery issues after about 4 months. They replaced it for free since it was in the warranty period, but it was still a hassle and not ideal. Looks nice. Feels nice. The data is amazing. They’re constantly working on new software.

I’ve been using the Oura Ring for several weeks now and I’m genuinely impressed it seamlessly tracks my sleep quality, readiness scores and daily activity in a way that’s both accurate and actionable. The elegant design fits easily into my routine, and the insights it provides (from heart rate variability to body temperature and recovery metrics) have helped me understand my body better and make smarter choices about rest and effort. If you’re serious about optimizing sleep, recovery and overall wellness, the Oura Ring delivers high-end wearable functionality in a subtle form.

Extremely happy with my Rose Gold Oura Ring! I was worried about the scratching, however I've worn nonstop and even worked out with metal dumbbells - no problem. The scratches that are there are not noticeable unless you really try to find them. It's been holding a charge for right around a week which is amazing! Love it!

About a month in now and really liking the Oura ring. I don't even notice that I'm wearing it anymore and it's taught me so much about my sleep, how it affects me, and what's actually happening while I'm in bed. Just don't be dumb like me and scratch it against other abrasive metals like gym dumbbells!

Hidden fees. Not “Wearable” for Half of Us

    Posted .

After three weeks of wearing an Oura Stealth on my index finger, I think until and unless Oura offers half sizes, this device should not be considered a “wearable” for many of us. I went to Best Buy to use their sizing kits and take advantage of helpful humans and same-day purchase. I was planning a trip in three weeks and wanted to test the ring’s ability to track health during travel. I found a Best Buy expert who said index is the preferred finger. A 9 was a bit tight but she said previous Oura owners were dissatisfied with results from other than a snug fit. I bought it. A week later I asked Oura Customer Service about the slight depression on my index finger and whether a ring finger is acceptable. Two days later I received a glorified AI FAQ (or rather, “FAQ off”) email with a name at the bottom to make you think a human actually spent time on it. “Naomi” said only that index is preferred and there are no half-sizes. In effect, suck it up. Even so I went back to Best Buy to size the ring finger and found a slightly better fit, but Best Buy did not have it in stock. With only a few days left before departure I decided not to risk mail order. Big mistake. I learned that fingers swell quite a lot during air travel. At some point I noticed the ring was chafing painfully. I put some soap on it to get it over the knuckle and applied it to the ring finger, where it now fit pretty well. The ring finger test lasted two days. It was looser fit and did not pick up data near as well as the index. At some point I looked down to see the ring was gone. Whether at a luggage carousel or washroom I don’t know. But good riddance. The ring was nice looking though not as sleek as my wedding band; worn on the dominant index finger it interferes a bit with pens and forks, but on the other hand it interferes unacceptably with fretting a guitar. I didn’t like the app. I wanted to check it upon waking to see how sleep went, and review activities from the previous day. Data download data from the ring takes long—OK, a tradeoff for small size and longer battery life, live with that. Pressing the top-tab for “Yesterday” takes me to a calendar from which I can select yesterday and see… today’s scores again. After fussing about in the menus I manage to find yesterday’s data curves but I’m still not sure how I got there, perhaps it just takes time for the app to retrieve the saved data from a server somewhere. Activity tracking is not intuitive. The app guesses your activity and asks you to confirm. Guesses well for playing guitar or walking—stationary bike not so well, I think because the accelerometer is not as engaged. The ring has only this, ten-minute interval heart rates, SpO2 readings and time of day as inputs, and uses some algorithms to interpolate from that. You can change the app’s guess about your activity by selecting from a list with “choices” including Finnish baseball but not, oddly enough, sex or sauna. I tried to use “Tags” feature as a workaround but the entry screen is unhelpful. I can choose Start and End times, but cannot compare to detailed heart rate graphs to refine when those happened. It takes three passes to save all three Tag data points. I got little from the analyses. It was told when I got to sleep late—I knew that without the app—but no advice on why REM and Deep sleep are consistently red, though I felt rested. (One poster on internet said he fixed his low scores but getting a different ring!) I saw interruptions in SpO2 that might mean sleep apnea—or one of five other things, like a poorly-fitting ring. I saw no info on stress levels (yet). I was consistently low on heart rate variability, which is supposedly a bad thing, but I felt fine. Maybe the ring needed more time to adjust to my personality. I was hoping to see if I needed the extra analysis provided by the add-on $5/month subscription but never did understand what was covered and what not. I see from Oura-sponsored research that Oura does a 5% better job at detecting sleep levels than other wearables; but none are as good as EEGs. Bottom line: expensive with hidden fees. If a perfect fit, it might work for you. Otherwise, until and unless Oura makes half sizes for the rest of us, their rings cannot really be considered “wearables.” Watch formats work as well for less money.

    A Game-Changer for Sleep Tracking

I absolutely love my Oura Ring Gen 4, it’s hands-down one of the best purchases I’ve made for my health and wellness. I originally got it to track my sleep more accurately, and it has completely delivered on that promise (and then some). The sleep tracking is incredibly detailed—far beyond what I’ve seen in other devices. I get real-time insights into my sleep stages, restfulness, heart rate variability, body temperature, and even readiness scores that help me understand how well I recovered overnight. It’s amazing to wake up, check the app, and have a clear picture of how I slept, not just how long I was in bed. Beyond sleep, the Oura Ring also tracks activity, recovery, stress signals, and daily movement, all in a way that feels personalized and intuitive. And because it’s a ring, it’s lightweight, discreet, and comfortable—I forget I’m even wearing it. The battery life is great too; I typically get several days on a single charge. If you’re someone who values sleep quality, daily readiness, or just loves seeing detailed health metrics without wearing a bulky watch, I highly recommend the Oura Ring 4. It’s more than just a tracker—it’s a powerful tool for optimizing how you live and rest.

Solid Health Tracker with Minor Downsides

I initially ordered the size 9 for my left index finger, but after a week I realized it slipped off every time I washed my hands. I switched to a size 8, which fits perfectly. The gold color is beautiful, though it can look slightly orangey in certain lighting. The health insights and data it provides are excellent and have already helped me be more aware of my activity and sleep. I do wish it connected more seamlessly to third-party apps like Glow or Garmin Connect. Battery life is impressive — I get about a week on a single charge. After several weeks of daily wear, I’ve had no scratches, even with workouts and handwashing. It is a bit wide for my taste since I usually wear minimalist jewelry, but it’s still very comfortable and I barely notice it on. I’ve had it for less than a month, so I’ll need more time to give a final verdict, but so far it’s been a great addition to my wellness routine.

My girlfriend loves this ring. It's great for tracking vitals but also feminine cycles with extreme accuracy. Had to replace after a year of constant use but oura's customer service was great. Sent another within a week. It does scratch no matter how safe you are.

I'll start by saying I've been wearing an Oura ring for about 5 years. I got the OG ring with the flat side. I had the Gen 3 previously and it worked well for me, I even got a replacement from Oura when the battery started to give out. After 2 years or so, I decided I wanted to upgrade to the Ring 4. I got the sizing kit since I hadn't worn a ring without the protruding sensors before. Originally I wore a 6 for the OG and it was a bit loose. For the Gen 3, it felt more snug. When trialing the Ring 4, I got a 6 again after wearing the sizing kit since Size 5 felt too tight for my pointer finger and OK on my middle finger. I previously could wear my Gen 3 on my ring and middle interchangeably and on either hand. My dilemma was I wanted the flexibility, but for this ring, 6 was too big and 5 was too snug. Ultimately after wearing both, I opted for the Size 5 and only wear on my middle finger. It was disappointing because I sometimes like I wear other rings and move my Oura ring to my pointer finger so it doesn't scratch, but I will just have to switch it up. For me, sizing down was best and I had to forgo flexibility because I was more worried about my ring sliding off. Otherwise, good build, I like how sleek it is, and though sizing is a pain I like the flat sensors, it doesn't leave marks or dig into my finger.

Great product overall! I’ve had step trackers for a long time, but this one goes beyond, especially software wise. I think it is pretty accurate and learns your behaviors for even better future accuracy. And it looks great. I will definitely stay with this and future variants.
