Does just about everything
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had wearable health and fitness devices for many years, from simple pedometers to various iPhone and Apple Watch apps with many features. The Oura Ring 4 seems to have reached far beyond, and in a small, supremely convenient package. It is true what I read - it is easy to forget that you are wearing it at all. The charger (photo 1) is small and well-suited to the ring. I think if I were designing it, I would have given the base a magnet for convenience. I have not given a lower rating because of this. The Ring 4 does not have to be oriented to operate, but it does read better when the optical sensors (photo 2) are over fleshier areas of the finger (typically the underside). Optimal alignment is easy by keeping the groove on the outer ring surface (photo 3) on the palm side of the finger. The Oura iPhone app is pretty good. I have mixed feelings about its positioning itself to being the center of your complete health and well-being. It covers everything from exercise ("activity") to sleep to "readiness" and "resiliance," which I have not yet completely deciphered. I would have liked to be able to go straight to statistics of interest without having to drill down through a bunch of menus. A "favorites" button would go a long way here. Pros: Long battery life. The Ring 4 looks like it will keep a charge for at least five days, probably a week. Documentation suggests that it may be usable for eight days from a full charge. Charging is pretty fast - documentation says 20-80 minutes. I'm assumming the 80 minute figure is for charging from empty to full charge. One thing I like to keep track of is my heart rate; the Oura app makes it fast and easy to get statistics with a single tap from the main page. Finally, the Oura app "gets" that I work nights, and understands that my activity (LOTS of walking) and sleep schedules do not take place during traditional hours. Cons: As mentioned before, I would like to be able to have a few topics/statistics available from a front-page "Favorites" menu, but there is no such thing. Hopefully that will be a available in a future update. It is my understanding that the Oura Ring 4 can capture pulse oximetry - percentage of oxygenated blood - but it is as yet an elusive number.

A true lifestyle, health, and longevity device!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am in love with this new Oura Ring 4. Not only does it eliminate some of the annoyances of the Oura Ring 3 that I will mention, but it just seems to integrate perfectly into my active and on the go lifestyle. I am also an Apple Watch user, but I find that I am inconsistent about wearing my Apple watch all day and I strongly dislike wearing watches in bed. Therefore, a fitness/health ring is exactly what I needed to get full 24 hour, go anywhere health metrics information and to keep myself accountable to my fitness goals like total daily steps. Unboxing and set-up: As with the Oura Ring 3, OURA has managed to ensure that the packaging is minimal, discrete, and environmentally friendly. In the box were some printed instructions, the ring, the excellent and sturdy charging base, and the USB-C charging cable. Set up with the Oura app was ultra simple with step-by-step instructions to get you started. I selected to integrate the Oura app with my Apple Health app and information to keep health metrics updated across the board. As a note, if you are interested in getting a spare Oura Ring charger, they are size and model specific but can be acquired for around $60 on the Oura website for this ring. With the insane battery life though, I am adequately assured I will have no need for a spare charger at this time. Ring Build quality: This Oura Ring 4 is a MAJOR upgrade from the Oura Ring 3. It is thinner, seems to be made in a sturdier manner with full titanium (e.g., feels less “plastic-y”) and it does not have the annoying and often painful prominent internal sensor nubs of the Oura Ring 3. It is smooth inside and out with recessed sensors (opposite of protruding!) and is overall incredibly discrete, save for one small vertical indented line on the outside surface to help you visually and tactilely line up the ring’s sensors centered on the palm side of your finger as Oura recommends. The stealth finish of this ring is incredibly handsome and, from a distance, could easily be mistaken as a high-quality tungsten ring or other darker-finish metal ring. I elected to use the measuring kit to fit my Oura ring to my ring finger on my left hand to replace my preferred silicon wedding bands I normally wear as a frequent gym goer and vehicle enthusiast. The stealth finish has thus far held up really well to the stresses of the gym, but it is unfortunately getting some light scratches on the outside surfaces from the knurling on barbells and dumbbells. Oura themselves recommends that users wanting to avoid scratches may want to remove the ring during weightlifting sessions. I think this is reasonable and leaves it up to the user whether they care that much about the aesthetics of the ring or not. Maybe one day they will make a premium finish that is designed for the rigors that individuals like mechanics and weightlifters will put their rings through. Fitness Monitoring: As far as my testing has gone, I feel that this ring is highly accurate in both its counts of steps and its measurement of HR and blood oxygenation. I work in the medical field, and I have access to medical grade vital measurement devices, and thus far this ring is always within margin of error accurate on HR and blood oxygenation. Whatever witchcraft gyrometric technology they have built into this ring; my step counts seem to be in line with my Apple Watch if not sometimes higher by a few hundred steps a day. This works for me and again, because this ring is on my hand almost every hour of every week, I prefer the step counts I am getting from it. I am on an active health journey (16 pounds lost so far!) and aim for 7,000-10,000 steps a day. This watch helps me keep those steps counted and even encourages me to do more if I am well rested and I have a high readiness score on the app. I like this feature as it sort of feels like having a personal wellness coach right to hand at all times. I have used the ring to measure my VO2 max score and I got 44 (woohoo!) doing their 6-minute walking test in the app. It will be great to track my VO2 max as the current great thinkers in medicine like Dr. Peter Atilla highly emphasize high VO2 max as a health metric for longevity. The ring also does a reasonably good job of tracking my workouts. My Apple Workouts flow into the Oura app via the Health app integration. I sometimes find that, unfortunately, the Health app information sends over my phone’s data and not my watch’s workout data, which means that in activities like weightlifting where my phone is rarely on my body, I get severely under-measured calorie burn that can’t be edited in the Oura app. My solution to this is to use the Oura ring app’s “record workout HR” feature and to just select walking (there is no weightlifting support for activities monitored yet) while I am in my weightlifting sessions. The calories burned that the Oura app tracks as well as HR measurement line up with my Apple watch Workout tracker and have given me the confidence to start leaving the Apple watch at home and track with my ring only. Health monitoring: I will not go into detail of every feature of the app, but there are a couple of key developments in the app that I am really coming to appreciate. One is the tracking of daytime stress and recovery. The Oura ring has helped me realize that in spite of my generally low resting HR, the ring is detecting I spend time in the “stressed zone” a lot of the day and do not relax much at all, let alone get any daytime restoration. I am going to start using this information to be more intentional about working in relaxation time during the day and to try to even meditate during my lunches as a means to slough some of my stress off. As for how the ring tracks my sleep, it subjectively seems very accurate to me. I can certainly see the difference in the nights when it is my turn to look after our 6-month-old and I am getting up 2 or 3 times a night to do baby cares, versus the nights I sleep through the night. This ring has other useful health features that will interest most people. One is that you can opt to select nighttime blood oxygen monitoring. This can be useful for detecting if you are possible dealing with sleep apnea or other nocturnal hypoxic events that need further screening and consultation with your medical provider. This comes at the cost of reduced battery life, but to me it is worth it. This ring also is capable of tracking body temperature which can be useful for tracking whether you are possibly becoming sick and can also help females monitor their menstrual cycle. Altogether, this ring is a perfect fitness and overall health device that I think will interest many people, particularly in terms of the upgrade of this ring model in quality and battery life. As a healthcare worker and fitness enthusiast, I have no critiques to offer, only excitement and enthusiasm to have this ring in my health monitoring arsenal! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy your purchase! Remember to get the ring fitment kit first to determine what the right size is for you since they ring sizes do not always perfectly match up with typical wedding band size etc.

Best purchased for fertility
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using my Oura Ring for a month now, and I’m genuinely impressed. It’s sleek, lightweight, and easy to forget you’re even wearing it which is exactly what I wanted in a wellness tracker. The sleep tracking is incredibly detailed and has helped me better understand my sleep patterns. I’ve started making small changes to my routine based on my readiness scores and have noticed a real difference in my energy levels. I also appreciate the insights on recovery, heart rate, and activity without the bulk of a smartwatch. The app is user-friendly and the daily reports feel like a personal check-in. The only thing to note is that sizing can be a bit tricky – I used the sizing kit before ordering and I’m glad I did. Battery life has also been solid; I only charge it every 3-4 days. Overall, this has been a great investment in my health and well-being. If you’re looking for something subtle, smart, and science-backed, I highly recommend it.

Powerful little ring!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great device to track your readiness for the day. Easy setup and use. Design: It will look and feel big on your hand but once you wear it for a week, it actually isn't that bad. You'll get used to it. It does scratch quite easily but with care, I think it will last long. I have it for about 2 weeks now and I have very minor normal scratches on the bottom of the ring. I do not wear it during showers or when I was my hands. Usability and functionality: The information it provides is helpful to me. I have a history of pushing myself without letting my body heal or rest, which results into dizzy spells. By having this ring, it tracks my body's readiness and lets me know when I need to slow down. It does not track real time activities (e.g. running) but it can integrate or interface with other tracking apps like Strava (which is what I use for running). It will automatically receive the information from the Strava app and log it as an activity. The other features I like are the sleep and stress trackers. It gives me an idea of where I currently stand based on the data it receives. The longer you use it, the more accurate it will be. Overall, it's a great device to help you be mindful of your body!

Tracks sleep, recovery, heart rate, and even body temperature — all from a ring that looks like jewelry. Battery lasts a week, and the daily insights actually help you optimize your health. Oura Ring 4
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really love my oura ring. It has been a game changer for my sleep and allows me to keep track of my stress levels throughout the day. It is very in tune with different activities and biometrics and I love wearing it. It took about 3 weeks to get used to the weight of it but now I barely realize I'm wearing it. It lasts 5-6 days and charges quickly which I also love.

My Favorite Health Tracker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been monitoring my health for a while now, using various devices like Fitbit, Apple Watches, and recently, a Samsung Watch. I've always been curious about smart rings, but never got the chance to try one until now. The Oura Ring 4 does a lot of things really well, but there are a few areas where I think it could be improved. **Setting Up** Let's start with the setup process, which was incredibly quick and easy. I was in a rush when it arrived, and I wanted to get it up and running that same evening to track my health and sleep. The entire process took less than 10 minutes, including pairing the device and downloading an update. It had to remain on the charging stand during the pairing and update process. I initially paired it with my Samsung S23 Ultra, and the connection was established very quickly. One thing to keep in mind is that some of the metrics collected by the Oura ring aren't immediately displayed. It takes time to track your ranges, so most of the information isn't available in the first few days. However, you'll start to see trends emerge after the first week of use. Even now, almost a month into using it, the ring is still calibrating my Chronotype/Body Clock information under Sleep Health. It says it needs 3 months of data to complete the calibration. I mention this to emphasize the importance of consistently wearing the ring to obtain meaningful insights into your health. I ended up needing to set the Oura up twice since I changed phones during my first few weeks with it. It was super easy to get it setup on my new device, and all of my previous data was there as soon as I logged into my new device. **Pros** So let’s start off why I think the Oura Ring 4 is a great health device. Again, this is coming from someone who has been using smartwatches everyday for the last 6-7 years. First off, I love that I only need to charge it once a week. I wear it all the time, only taking it off to charge. I do two 30-minute workouts every day, usually a 30-minute run followed by either 30 minutes of strength training, yoga, or core work. It can track all of that and only needs to be charged every 5-6 days. Next, let's talk comfort. At first, the ring was a bit of an adjustment. I've only ever worn my wedding band, so it took time to get used to the Oura Ring 4 on my right hand all the time. I ended up switching it from my index finger to my middle finger. It kept getting in the way on my index finger. After a few weeks of use, I barely notice it anymore. I haven't tried previous-gen Oura rings, but I've heard that they prioritized comfort. It seems like they nailed it with the Ring 4. Another thing that really impressed me was the way Oura presents the data. It's so easy to quickly glance at the app and see how you should plan your day. If you've been pushing too hard without enough rest, it might be time to take it easy. On the other hand, if you've had a great rest day, you might be ready to push yourself harder today. You get a quick score, but you can also dive into the detailed data that was collected to give you that score. Keep in mind that some of this data won't be available right away. You'll need to give the Oura a little time to gather enough data to determine when you're resting or pushing yourself. Oura provides an impressive range of data compared to Apple Fitness, Samsung Health, and Fitbit. It doesn't just give you numbers; it helps you understand how they affect your overall health. It's not just about the data, but also the explanations behind it. You can see how certain factors impact your metrics, allowing you to make lifestyle changes to improve them. For example, I cut out alcohol after seeing how it affected my sleep and recovery. These devices aim to provide health data and actionable steps for improvement. One area I hadn't focused on before is stress. The Oura Ring 4 and app offer valuable insights into how stress impacts my day and how I recover from it. It's motivated me to make time for relaxation. **Areas to Improve** Here are a couple of minor things I'd tweak. First, I wish the app had widgets. I am not sure if they're available on iOS, but for sure not Android. It'd be great to have quick access to my numbers right on my home screen. The other thing is the color. The rose gold looked more like bronze online, which I loved. In person, it's not as dark. It looks more gold than bronze, which is fair since that's the name of the color. I just thought the online images looked more like what I got. It still looks great, though. Just a minor gripe. The subscription fee might be a downside for some, but I think OURA offers a lot of valuable information in a way that's easy to understand. It would be great if purchasing the ring came with a longer membership than 30 days. In contrast, a Fitbit I bought a while ago came with 6 months of membership, if I recall correctly. While Samsung and Apple don't charge for tracking metrics, they also don't provide the same level of detail as OURA. Considering the positive impact OURA has had on my lifestyle in such a short time, I'm willing to pay the subscription fee. The activity tracking could use some work. It's pretty good at tracking most activities, but you have to double-check that it correctly recorded the duration and type of event. At first, I connected it to Health Connect so that it could just import my activities from my watch. It did that, but it would only import the duration of the activity and leave out the heart rate information. So, I switched it to just writing to Health Connect and not reading from it. That way, I can go in and edit the activity it does track or manually start an activity. **Bonus** The OURA app's Labs feature lets you test-drive upcoming features. I'm currently trying out the Oura Advisor and Meal Tracker. The Oura Advisor is an AI chatbot that helps you analyze your data and suggests ways to improve your health. It's like having a personal health coach at your fingertips! The Meal Tracker is pretty cool too. Just snap a pic of your meal, and it'll magically identify what you're eating. Although, it doesn't provide nutritional info yet, which would be super helpful. **Overall** The OURA Ring 4 has completely won me over. It's the perfect introduction to smart rings, and I can't imagine life without it. I'll be using it every day to track my health trends, and I might even ditch my smartwatch since the OURA Ring does everything I need. It's so comfortable and lightweight that I forget I'm wearing it, and I love that I don't have to worry about charging it every day. The app is super user-friendly and gives me a quick overview of my health, but it also lets me dive deep into the data to see how different factors are affecting my overall score. My only request is for some widgets, but that's a minor thing. The OURA Ring 4 is a game-changer, and I highly recommend it.

2nd ring. Provides very comprehensive data
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so impressed by this little device after using for a month that went i lost my first one i immediately went out to grab a replacement. Its easy to forget its there and requires very little charging (10 minutes a day at my desk keeps it topped off). Where this thing shines is the wealth of information it provides to the user. It seems i have made a very bad habit of ignoring what my body is trying to communicate and this is where oura comes in. It seems to know whenever i’ve over extended myself. of course i can feel my own body but before owning one id trudge through any soreness or stiffness not thinking that im overdoing it. Sleep tracking is amazing and considers other data streams to deduce other relevant stats/metrics that help me make more health cosncious decisions. Also want to point out that i used to work for fitbit and am familiar with their algos — oura beats theirs by a mile.

Oura Ring 4 - Black
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my Oura Ring 4 - Smart Ring to track my overall health due to health issues. My Cartologist recommended that I needed two start tracking my metrics, in aiding in my health recovery. I love the following scores: readiness; sleep; activity; heart; and stress. It takes a full month of wear to get a full metrics of your health, activities, and patterns, It has really helped me look at when I'm stressed, which has really helped me at work. I use the sleep to track recovery and issues with my CPAP. In addition with my Our ring, I measure my blood pressure daily, which is directly tied to my sleep quality. As I've continued with my cardio program, it's been really cool monitoring my heart rate, sleeping and daytime to see how different events impact me. The readiness feature is really cool. because it can tell if my body is recovered enough for a hard workout of a simple 30 minute walk. It's also simple to keep charged, When I see that it's close to needing a charge, its super easy to put it on the charger while you shower and get ready for the day, As far as the finish, I went with the black and haven't had any issues with nicks or scratches since Christmas. I'm rough on rings during the summer so we'll see how it wears, I highly recommend the Oura Ring 4.

The best Oura Smart Ring generation yet!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The fourth generation Oura ring is my third Oura ring and, I must say, they keep getting better and better. Pros: - This newest generation of the Oura ring has the longest battery life of any previous versions. I have gone four days and nights without charging and still had almost 50 percent battery. - They redesigned the charging base in a GREAT way. First, it's heavier than previous versions which is a much appreciated improvement since previous versions easily slid off my desk when taking the ring off or putting it back on. - You'll see in my pictures - the color variations have changed a little bit, too. My 3rd generation and 4th generation rings are both what Oura calls "Stealth," and you'll see it's a bit lighter in color. - The ring itself, although it appears bigger, weighs a little bit less. - The app provides a TON of valuable insights across a wide variety of health concerns. I use mine mainly for focusing on sleep, activity goals, stress management, and what they refer to as a Readiness Score. There are many, many other readings the Oura ring provides, but those are the key metrics I like to keep track of. - The app also integrates with Apple's Health app which provides even more information. Cons: - I dislike the monthly or annual fee. With a smart ring this expensive, I think the membership should come free with the ring - at least for a year or two. Overall, I'm thrilled with this latest iteration of the Oura ring and look forward to improving my health with its vast array of data points.

Insightful, but Expensive
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been wearing the ring for almost a month now. I was super excited to get the ring as I've been wanting to know more about my sleeping habits and overall health insights. The sleep tracking is definitely the best part of the ring in my opinion so far. Super accurate and really helpful to see my sleeping habits. The only reason why the ring is not a 5 star rating for me is because in order to use the ring to its full advantage such as blood work data, they require you to pay even more money to get it done through Quest. I have done blood work through my primary, so I do wish they had a feature where you can insert your data manually. The ring is already expensive enough so requiring more money to pay for certain aspects of the health stats is a little crazy to me.
