I’ve been using the Oura Ring 4 for a little while now, and I can honestly say it’s the best health and sleep tracker I’ve ever owned. The new sensors are incredibly accurate, and the insights I get every morning actually help me understand how I slept and how to plan my day. The ring is lightweight, comfortable, and way more convenient than wearing a bulky smartwatch 24/7. I barely notice it’s on. The updated design looks sleek and premium, and the battery life is impressive — I can go days without charging it. The app is super clean and easy to use. I love the detailed breakdown of sleep stages, readiness score, and activity tracking. The new features feel more personalized, and the data actually matches how my body feels throughout the day. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. The Oura Ring 4 is absolutely worth it. Perfect for anyone who wants serious health insights without sacrificing comfort or style. 10/10!

As someone passionate about tracking heart rate variability (HRV) for health and resilience, I put the Oura Ring and RingConn head-to-head—and Oura left me both impressed and frustrated. What Oura Does Well Recovery-Grade HRV: Oura is as accurate as anything outside a hospital, measuring HRV (rMSSD) at night for deep recovery. If you want insight into your autonomic nervous system—stress, strain, and rest—Oura’s data is solid and beautifully presented. Sleep Tracking: The ring’s sleep stage analysis and readiness score are helpful for seeing how your body bounces back, especially if you’ve been under stress, sick, or training hard. Where It Falls Short Paywall for Wellness: After the trial, you have to pay $6/month for most features. Without a subscription, you lose access to HRV trends, detailed sleep, temperature, and more. That means the $350–$500 you paid just gets you the hardware—wellness is extra. Luxury Pricing, Questionable Value: The base price is steep, and the gold version costs even more (and yes, the gold can tarnish—search the reviews!). You’re paying for a brand and a shiny finish, not extra function. Opaque Data: Oura only shows your lowest HRV average at night, not your highest, nor your real-time ups and downs. If your number seems low (mine is often ~19 ms), that’s by design—it’s showing your most “strained” period, not your day’s average. This can be confusing and discouraging. Step Count Drift: After recent updates, Oura’s step count dropped (sometimes undercounted), while RingConn overcounts. Neither is perfect. RingConn: A Cheaper, Broader Lens All-Day HRV: RingConn measures HRV continuously, so you can see how stress, calm, and even emotions affect you throughout the day. No subscription required. Half the Price: $200, with core metrics, including HRV, and no recurring fees. App Needs Work: No way to see weekly/monthly HRV trends (at least as of this writing), which makes long-term improvement hard to track. What Companies Should Learn Stop Gating Health Data: HRV isn’t new; HeartMath has offered this tech for decades, focused on healing, not profits. Wellness shouldn’t be locked behind a luxury paywall. Transparency and Choice: Let users see all their HRV data—lowest, highest, averages, and real-time—and empower them to interpret it meaningfully. Price for Access, Not Exclusion: These rings could transform public health if made more affordable. Apple and Oura, why not partner with mission-driven orgs and make HRV tracking a right, not a privilege? Bottom Line If you want the most validated HRV data for overnight recovery, Oura is still the gold standard—but it comes with a monthly toll, luxury pricing, and data “curation” that hides more than it reveals. If you want more raw, day-long HRV (with some trade-offs in accuracy), RingConn is a worthy challenger at half the price. If I could, I’d blend Oura’s science with RingConn’s access and HeartMath’s spirit. Until then, Oura gets 2–3 stars from me—not for lack of innovation, but for putting wellness behind a velvet rope. I really love this ring! I had my eye on the Oura ring for months, but couldn’t decide if I wanted to pull the trigger on getting it or not. Now, I love waking up everyday and checking my scores based on what the app tells you. You can either pay the monthly subscription or not, but I pay to get all the added features with it. It’s pretty neat to see when your scores are low and actually feeling what the numbers show. I utilize the ring for activity and managing stress. Best purchase ever! I would recommend getting a cover for the ring so you avoid scratching the ring, especially when you are lifting weights.

Health reporting is nice. Seems to do well with sleep tracking, but not very good at detecting daily exercise and activities. My biggest issue is the bulk, thickness, and somewhat sharp edges.I catch the band on things all day (pockets, mice, desktops, etc) and have a few times got it stuck in tight spots. Also, I have clanked my head a few times and rubbed my nose just to get a sharp edge to scratch my face. Anyway, cue device, but to clunky for my liking.

Fits well, and holds a charge very well. Comfortable fit with accurate monitoring.

This ring is fantastic. It’s incredibly light and comfortable—half the time I forget I’m even wearing it. The durability is impressive too; I’ve knocked it against a few things and it still shows almost no scratches. The battery life is next level. The app is intuitive, and the notifications are genuinely helpful without being annoying. When it comes to sleep, it keeps me accountable, and the data feels accurate and meaningful. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants deeper insight into their health and daily habits.

Good battery life, easy to scratch but the subscription price is annoying

I am very pleased with the Oura Ring and the insight to health and sleeping. The activity tracking is pretty accurate so long as you take the time to review the notifications and it's the best device I've found so far to track health without being annoying and being discrete. I wish you didn't have to pay for the subscription to the app, but after evaluating Oura app vs. some others, I determined it was worth the extra expense.

This is an absolute must buy for those interested in learning more about your daily living. It fits great, no annoyance noticed and looks great. It seemlessly tracks everything. I definitely recommend this version of the ring.

Ive has this ring for 3 month and still loving it. It detects when I’m fighting something or when my temp is elevated. I mostly use the activity tracker, sleep tracker, and menstrual tracker. It’s comfortable to wear all the time and sleep with. Great investment. Happy I was able to get one!

The ring is very sleek and very accurate for tracking activity and sleep, helped me fix some problems with my sleep because I was able to see where I was going wrong. Definitely recommend

The Oura ring has been an excellent addition to my wearable tech line up. I wear my applae watch during the day and take it off at night and the Oura ring 24/7 except to charge and actives that might damage it. It’s very comfortable to wear and the battery life is excellent.

The Oura ring is good when you want to know all your body insights. It’s good for sleep, stress, readiness, and heart rate. I went into the store which I highly recommend to get the right size, the band with is thick so you might need to size up. The ring is ok for workouts but doesn’t really give you that many insights like an Apple Watch would. For example if you run a lot and want to track distance, it won’t show you that in the app. It will show you the zone your heart rate was in and how many calories were burned. The ring also tracks temperature and if you’re using it for cycle synchronization it’s good with that!

Only one dislike that would be, more service options that come with the ring, not having to pay more on top of a high price already. My husband and I work around the clock but he spends more hours at the business so that means more stress, yes hes young, yes he thinks he can go an go and go. But some days catch up to him and he dont know why he feels the way he feels. So to give him something to look at from what i seen right on his phone he can see most of what is causing his body and mind to feel so drained at times. Now that he can see a little he has been pulling back a little... well as much as business will allow to allow his body to have some actual rest time. And for that i am very great to have invested in this product. Thank you

I bought the Ring for my husband with the expectation that it would be a convenient option for notifications and activity tracking, and in terms of basic functionality, the product does its job. It’s comfortable and practical for monitoring certain functions, but for us, it fell short in the features we were looking for. The performance is good, notifications come through without issue, and the battery life is adequate. However, the device doesn’t offer as many options or customization as we had hoped, making it less useful for my husband’s daily needs. Pros: Basic functionality works well Comfortable and easy to use. Good battery life. Cons: Limited in terms of additional features. Not as versatile as other similar devices. Overall, the Ring could be useful if you’re looking for a simple device for notifications, but if you’re after something with more features, it may not be the ideal option.
