Bought the Oura Ring 5 in silver, size 7, for my wife and she's been very happy with it. The fit was perfect and the silver finish looks sleek and stylish. She especially likes the detailed sleep and activity tracking, and the battery life has been impressive so far. Set up was straightforward and the app is easy to use. Overall, it's been a great purchase and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a smart ring with a premium feel.

I have worn the Oura Ring 5 for the last two weeks and I can easily leave a positive review for it. This is my first smart ring. I do have a smart watch, and have for years, but due to battery life, I am unable to wear it to bed and have it track my sleep habits. That is probably my number one reason for getting the Ring 5 initially—to track my sleep habits and make sure that I am getting the rest and recovery that I need each night. I also got the Ring 5, to be honest, to wear as a wedding ring because it is made out of titanium and has a nice black finish on it that looks excellent. Serves as double-duty—helps track my health and shows off my marriage (28 years and still going strong!). I used the sizing kit to measure my finger. It comes with multiple sized plastic rings, and you receive it prior to getting the Ring 5. I tried on the 12 and the 13 rings, and really struggled to know which one to get. I’m generally a 12.5, and since the 12 felt a little too tight, I went with the 13. After receiving the size 13, I kind of wish that I had gone with the 12. The 13 does spin around on my ring finger, and the sensors will end up aiming in the wrong direction. So just a head’s up for prospective buyers: size carefully and maybe choose on the tighter end. I wasn’t sure what to expect when the Ring 5 showed up, but it was a surprise. It was lighter than light! After handling it, I thought for a moment that maybe it was made out of plastic and I was going to be disappointed if so. But I did some research online and saw that it was made out of titanium with a special coating (I got the gloss black), and that alleviated any concerns that I might have had with longevity and holding up under use. The Ring 5 is relatively narrow. I was expecting and maybe hoping for a wider ring, which would look a little better with my sausage fingers. That being said, The Ring 5 still looks great. The Ring 5 talks to a smartphone app. I installed it on my iOS device and it took only a few minutes to get everything set up. I’m not going to talk much about the app, since this review is about the ring itself, but the amount of information that is shared between the two is astonishing and takes a while to get used to. I am a big fan of the daytime stress score, which I have used to take breaks when it hits a high. I also like that it tracks activity better than my smart watch. It even seems to know what activities I am doing (yard work, walking, swimming, etc.) and logs that much better than my smart watch. I was shocked at the battery life that the Ring 5 has. I wear it everywhere—bed, work, exercising, etc. I’ve worn it for a week straight without a charge, and I am finally getting to the point that I need to charge it. It is water resistant, I wear it in the pool. I’ve done physical labor and then looked at it, thinking I probably just scratched it—nope, all good. This thing is tough! Charging it is easy, I love the charger. Just sit it on it and it charges quickly. I am a fan of the Ring 5. I haven’t had a smart ring before, and I am glad to give this one a try.

At first I wasn’t sure what to think of the new Oura Ring 5. This is my first experience with Oura. I expected that it would be like a fitness tracker in a beautiful form factor with some extra bells and whistles in the app. It turns out that’s not a fair comparison for a few reasons. First, emphasis is less on fitness and more on overall wellness. In fact, Oura is not particularly tuned to track workouts at all. It does so, but with data sharing turned on with my Apple Watch, Oura gladly defers to Apple Watch (and Apple’s Workouts and Fitness apps) for workout tracking. What Oura does best is monitoring the body’s signals continuously throughout the day and generating reports and suggestions for overall health, sleep, and readiness to face the day. Second, and more significantly, Oura is less a product than a service. The physical product itself is an incredible piece of engineering and technology, but it is designed to do almost nothing without a subscription to their service. It won’t even log data and send it to other apps like Apple Health without the subscription. On a practical level this means that the cost of ownership is more than the selling price of a ring, it also includes the annual subscription (currently around $60—and still completely worth the cost). On a theoretical level, though, it means that the use of the Oura ring is dependent on the continued good graces of the company: if at any time they go out of business, or if they decide to change their service agreement, the ring may revert to an overpriced fashion accessory. With that in mind, I’ll briefly describe the hardware, but this review is mostly about Oura as a service. AMAZING HARDWARE It’s a work of genius that the engineers were able to pack so much tech into such a small package. This little ring seems no larger than the piece of jewelry it appears to be, yet it’s full of advanced electronics. It has Bluetooth connectivity, sensors for temperature, motion, heart rate, and I’m not sure what else, and somehow there’s room left over for a battery. The battery easily lasts a week, though guidance is to charge it for a few minutes daily or so. When I get in a routine of dropping it on the charger while I shower or clean up, I never have to worry about it. It’s designed to collect biometric data continually, and it’s got built-in memory to store this data (they say up to 3 days) until it is able to upload it to the app. Visually, it looks really good. I got the Stealth color option, which is basically matte black, or like graphite. The inside is polished steel. I’ve been wearing it for nearly a month now, even during physical activities like washing dishes or even engine maintenance, and it hasn’t gotten any visible scratches or marks. I’m sure it’s not indestructible, but it seems plenty durable for normal use. Instructions say that the best operation will be with the sensors toward the bottom. There’s a mark on the exterior bottom which can help with this alignment. However, in my experience the ring tends to spin on my finger over the course of a day, so it’s rarely aligned properly. I can’t say I notice any difference in data quality, but it’s hard to tell. THE APP AND THE SERVICE The value of Oura Ring is almost entirely moderated by the service. In effect, you have to install the app and pay a subscription in order to get any use out of the ring. There are a few exceptions to needing the service, but even the bare minimum function (downloading some raw data) requires that the app be connected to their servers. In short, as amazing as the Ring 5 hardware is, it does virtually nothing without the Oura service. This is not necessarily a bad thing. By collecting all your data and processing it in the cloud, Oura is able to provide wonderful insights about each individual as well as how they compare to average users. Oura continually does large-scale research to improve their algorithms, predictions, and recommendations. In fact, I find myself checking the app multiple times a day to see what new information Oura has to share with me. Some insights are available immediately, while others require days or weeks of data before anything comes back—so at least for the first few months the information keeps getting better and more personal. Oura has several years’ history of experience understanding biometric data and presenting it in an simple and practical way; provided they stay on the same trajectory, I expect the insights to keep getting better over time. That said, it is worth keeping in mind that Oura—the company, not just the ring—is monitoring detailed health data from the ring constantly. All this information goes to their servers to get interpreted. To make this happen, I had to download the app, make an account, and agree to their terms of service. The Terms of Service is long, about 35 pages if I were to print it out. The attached Privacy Policy itself is almost as long. On the one hand, it’s good that they take privacy seriously since they are handling tons of personal HIPAA protected health information. On the other hand, at least from a practical and logistic perspective, giving all this data to Oura puts them in a position of control. If possession is nine tenths of the law, then all that data belongs to Oura. It’s only because they agree to share it with me that I get any benefit from it. This is a really big distinction from the way many other fitness trackers work. When you buy a thermometer and use it to check your body temperature, you have full control over what to do with the results and who to share it with. When Oura checks your temperature, they know the results first and they decide what to do with that information, including sharing it with you. They do this so that they can verify, process, validate, and interpret the information—so instead of just telling you your temperature is a little high, they can offer context and actionable insight. This is really fantastic, in my opinion. But it comes with a risk. I’ll leave it to the sci fi writers and techno theorists what harms could come with a data leak from Oura, but for me the obvious risk is in changes to the company and the user agreement. What happens if they go out of business? If they get bought out? If they decide to raise the subscription rates? All these are out of my control and could drastically change how I am able to use the Oura Ring and the information it provides. This risk isn’t enough for me to say stay away, but it’s worth thinking about before making a long-term investment in this product. Once I got to use the service, I’ve been really excited about it. As I found, the focus is not on fitness, tracking steps, or other simple metrics. Rather, it’s on overall health and wellness. If anything, (for me at least) there’s been an emphasis on sleep and rest to help me be fully ready for each day. Insights are very personalized. While I can’t say they’ve always been helpful (but the system is still learning my particulars) they are interesting enough that I find myself checking the app multiple times a day to see what it will tell me. It has given me good suggestions to improve my sleep quality, alertness, and overall energy levels. I work a desk job, and I often feel drained and restless at the same time. But with Oura’s suggestions to focus on sleep and recovery, I am finding that my energy levels are not just about physical movement. They also are influenced by my sleep patterns and whether I have restful periods during the day. The app isn’t perfect, though. Almost every time I open it, I have to wait 5-10 seconds for it to “update” and load various panes. If I try to scroll around before then the panes jump around and I have to scroll again. Also, a good portion of the insights are generated at least in part by a LLM. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make me feel like I’m wading through AI slop a lot of the time, and I’m never certain that what I’m reading isn’t a hallucination. Finally, there have been times when indicators from the ring were clearly misinterpreted. For example, one night I had a hard time sleeping because my AC wasn’t working as well as it should. Oura saw an elevated temperature and thought I might be getting sick. This type of misinterpretation may work itself out as Oura collects more data, but it’s hard to tell after only a month. Overall, I’m definitely impressed with what this thing does. The hardware is nearly magical, and the software seems like it will continue to learn more about me and get better for months to come. I’m looking forward to seeing it. However, the app glitches and the fact that everything goes through Oura’s cloud servers leave me slightly worried that the system may not always live up to its current promises.

Bottom Line: The Oura Ring 5 delivers accurate sensing and excellent battery life in an amazingly thin and light design. Pros: extremely light; looks great; good biometric tracking; battery life Cons: Subscription-based model for full features Full Review: My ring is a size 11 in the silver finish. Out of the box, I was shocked at how thin and light it is. It’s not much thicker than my wedding band, but the Oura is noticeably a lot lighter. The silver finish looks great, and both my wife and I agree it could, indeed, be worn as a wedding band for those interested in for the most discreet look possible (although Oura recommends you wear the ring on your index finger). After straightforward setup in the app, your ring gets right to work tracking heart rate and activity monitoring. For the latter, the sensors do a good job of picking up on activity and movement, which is then used to build your health and activity profile over time. I particularly like the sleep tracking feature, since it’s much less obtrusive to wear the ring to sleep than a smart watch. The sleep report was easy to read, and I’ve actually gained a lot of insight into my sleep patterns over the past few weeks. That said, many of the health insights do require longer tracking periods. The blood oxygen sensor, for instance, requires a walking test or multiple week use period before giving you an assessment of your cardio health. Other insights require days, weeks, or even months of data to construct, although once built the insights are helpful. The app also provides suggestions on activity to improve those metrics. Battery life is excellent. Since getting the Oura right, I’ve worn it almost continuously, only removing it to wash dishes, shower, or to charge. In my experience so far, I’ve been getting about 10 days out of a single charge., As a new Oura user, the biggest drawback, I think, is that full functionality requires a subscription, and it’s not immediately clear what will work without it (new members do get the first month free). Oura’s website FAQ simply says the app will function but insights, personal health data, and benefits will be “much more limited.” Last, and this is true of any subscription/cloud-based product, Oura will be collecting, storing, and analyzing your health data, and so buyers should be aware and that as well.

After having an Oura ring 4 for a while, and loving it, I decided to not only upgrade to the 5 but to change the color. Most of my jewelry is gold, but the Oura 4 gold just wasn’t the same. Also with the cost difference I decided to go with the silver. With this upgrade, I went with the gold and love it! The smaller size is great for my smaller hands and the battery lasts so much longer!

The Oura Ring 5 brings several welcome upgrades, but its biggest improvement is the smaller, lighter design. The slimmer profile makes it noticeably more comfortable for all-day and overnight wear, while the enhanced sensors and new health features add meaningful value without sacrificing battery life. For many users, the reduced size alone makes this a worthwhile refinement over previous generations.

For context in this review - I'm an Apple Watch user, and I have owned a Oura Ring 3. If I'm honest, I stopped wearing the Oura ring 3 for a few reasons, the main one being how uncomfortably thick and large it was. People were always asking me about it... one person called it a "manhole cover on my finger" Well I'm happy to report that the Oura Ring 5 is NOT that way. This newest offering seems to have incrementally updated the same or similar sensor suite, and is now in a much more svelte package. This ring is approximately the same thickness as my tungsten carbide wedding ring, for reference. I swapped them out and don't notice the difference. As before, I continue to be astounded that Oura can sell this ring for what they do and then they still charge an annual fee to show/analyze/pass along the data. When you get into their app and everything its doing, you get a sense for why they charge, I'm just not convinced still that it's necessary. There seems to be some significant overlap, at least for me, with what apple is doing with Apple Health. I DO appreciate that I cam able to aggregate most/all of the data from my ring with other things like data from my Apple Watch and data from other wearables/medical devices/etc. If the Oura app was able to access things like my A1C measurements from the connected meter, I'd probably switch over completely. The new ceramic finishes are definitely worth the extra cost, even if they're getting into the spicy range. One thing to note, the divot that indicates which part of the ring should be towards your palm is very difficult to see/find on the new black ceramic finish, but I guess I'll suffer that ifor the sake of fashion. The pics I've attached to this review compare my old Ring 3 to the new Ring 5. Overall this is made very well, the app works well, and this has become a VERY wearable package. I dinged a single star in this review because I continue to dislike expensive hardware paired with expensive subscriptions, but there are going to be those, currently myself included, that justify the cost.

I've been extremely happy with the Oura Ring 5. The biggest value for me isn't just collecting health data—it's actually understanding what that data means. I check my Readiness, Sleep Score, Stress, Restoration, and Resilience every day, and over time the ring has established a personalized baseline that makes the information much more meaningful. One feature I use all the time is the AI assistant. I can ask questions about my trends and get recommendations that help connect the dots between my habits and how I'm feeling. I also like being able to add tags for things like exercise, travel, or changes to my routine. Looking back at those tags has helped me figure out what improves my sleep and recovery and what tends to work against me. The ring itself is sleek, lightweight, and comfortable enough that I forget I'm wearing it. It looks good, doesn't get in the way during the day, and has become part of my daily routine. If you're looking for a wearable that provides meaningful health insights instead of just collecting numbers, I highly recommend it.

I like this Oura ring a lot more as a sleep and recovery tracker than as a workout device. It is slim enough that I forget it is on, and the brushed silver finish looks more like normal jewelry than tech. The app is the real reason to buy it, since the sleep, readiness, heart rate, and stress info is easy to understand without feeling like a spreadsheet. Battery life is also strong enough that I do not feel like I am constantly charging it. The downsides are pretty clear though. You really need to use the sizing kit first because the fit matters a lot, especially if your fingers swell at night or during workouts. I also would not buy this expecting Apple Watch style fitness tracking, because workout heart rate and activity detection can still be a little hit or miss. The subscription is annoying after already paying this much, but if you mainly want comfortable sleep tracking and health trends without wearing a watch to bed, it makes a lot of sense.

Got this for monitoring my general health. I don't do smart watches but wanted something to give me health insights. Received the sizing kit and fitted for use. They quickly mailed the size and color options I selected. Ring fit as expected. The ring is light weight and actually smaller than my wedding band. I do have it on my right ring finger. I have been wearing it now for a few weeks. Ring has held up pretty well. It does have one scratch, which i presume is from working out. I wish it would detech activities a bit more aggressively. It seems to detect high heart rate and duration to determine activity. I was hoping for more info on step counts as well. It does have these functions but was looking for more insight. I did connect my smart weight scale so that syncs and shares data. There are also several integrations to add more insights and the ai assistance. I do love the vitals monitoring - heart rate, sleep monitor, activity. This helps me assess my overall health and make some better decisions. You can manually tag activity/meals/and historical activity to add and keep track. I did get several app updates that seemed to add a new function each time. This did NOT interrupt my usage but gave a notifcation to download and then apply. Battery has been great. There is a direct notification and charge status well before the battery expires. This gave me the opportunity to choose when i wanted to charge the ring rather than it just dying on me. Charging was done via a size specific charger and was pretty quick. You can also monitor battery level via the main page on the app with an icon or add a widget to your phone page(android). Overall a nice health monitor device that is continually getting better. It provided the ability to monitor vital health markers over time. And does this without a watch or other electronic band. In a nice jewelry that can be unnoticed.

The battery life of the ring is great, it’s as comfortable as any ring you might buy but the biggest plus is that it’s a smart tracking device that you can wear without any thought. It’s not a watch you may forget to throw on or charge, this is a ring that you can wear in your day to day life and forget about. The app is great and intuitive. The subscription isnt the worst but it would be nice if oura would sell us a complete product that isn’t locked behind a subscription paywall. It’s great for what it is, but not perfect.
