Product review title: Oura Ring 5 Product review: I really like how comfortable and lightweight the Oura Ring feels for everyday wear, especially compared with a smartwatch. It is easy to sleep with, looks stylish, and gives helpful insights about sleep, readiness, activity, and recovery. The battery life is strong and I do not feel like I have to charge it constantly. I also like that it is discreet and durable enough for daily use. Overall, I would recommend it for anyone who wants health tracking without wearing a bulky device. Would you recommend this product? I like this upgraded and smaller Oura Ring 5! It works really well, it stays charged for MUCH longer than the Oura Ring 4, has more features, and is more accurate. i like the smaller size, too. Whatever they coat it with stays strong and durable for years. Doesn't get all scratched and messy looking. I would recommend this product to all.

I recently purchased the Oura ring 5 in beautiful Rose Gold. This ring is so comfortable and lightweight you don’t even realize you’re wearing it. I opted to wear it on my ring finger left hand for my own comfort.i feel the information gathered has helped me a great deal to understand my sleep and stress levels. It’s a great product and enjoy having it. I wear it all day and night and only take it off for occasional charging, Battery life is great and basically you don’t have to think about anything, Oura sends you messages from the app. It also takes your heart rate which is helpful and I’ve enjoyed extra features like breathing exercises. It’s a great product, highly recommended.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I upgraded from the Oura Ring Gen 3 to the Oura Ring 5, and I'm very happy with the upgrade. The slimmer fit is one of my favorite improvements—it feels more comfortable and less noticeable during everyday wear while still looking stylish. The gold finish is beautiful and looks much more refined in person. It pairs well with my other jewelry and feels premium without being flashy. Setup was quick and easy, and I'm excited to continue tracking my sleep, activity, and overall wellness with the newest version. If you're considering upgrading from the Gen 3, I think the improved design alone makes it worth it. So far, it's been the perfect upgrade!

My order for the Ring 4 was out of stock for so long with my size 6, then Ring 5 was released, I was worried about the ring size, it turned out the size 6 fit well which was the smallest size for the new Ring 5, the new Ring 5 is significantly thinner and narrower—it finally feels like a normal piece of jewelry instead of a chunky tech gadget. It's so much more comfortable to sleep in and wear 24/7 without it getting in the way. If the thickness of the older models bothered you, this is the exact upgrade you’ve been waiting for. Highly recommend!

    Great alternative to a smartwatch

My wife and I both wear smart watches. Me every day, her not so much. She just doesn't like wearing a watch all that much, but at the same time she loves getting the fitness data a smartwatch shows. Getting the Oura Ring 5 for her was the perfect option. We had looked at several fitness rings in the past, but they all just looked too big and chunky for her. The Ring 5 is quite thin, and is just the right width to make it look like a stylish ring on it's own. No one would even guess it's a Smart Ring. The Ring 5 is available in six colors. My wife picked the deep rose color, and it's really cool looking. They're made from titanium and include sensors for heart rate, temperature, blood oxygen and an accelerometer for movement tracking and movement identification. These are unisex rings, so you only need to pick your size and color. When you order one of these, they will send you a sizing kit that includes eight different sized plastic rings to try out. Oura mentions that the ring sizes are not traditional sizes, so you don't want to order a “10” because you know a traditional size 10 ring fits. Wear the plastic ring around for as long as you need to get a feel for if it will be the right size for you, then just order that size. The included charger will be the same size as your ring. If you're reading this review, then you're already aware of all the things the ring can track and monitor. It tracks sleep very well and shows a graph of all your sleep stages throughout the night. If one of the things you're interested in tracking is your sleep quality, this is the ring for you. While Smart Watches that we own can track sleep as well, who wants to wear a watch to bed? And since our smartwatches only last about a day and a half on a charge, it's difficult to find the best time to charge them if we want to wear them night and day. The ring is so incredibly lightweight you won't even know you're wearing it. You get Blood Oxygen Sensing that helps detect if your breathing gets interrupted during the night. Bedtime Guidance reminds you when to start preparing yourself for bed so you can get a good nights sleep. And at the end of the night you get a sleep score that lets you know at a glance how you slept. There are things like Readiness scores that use several combined metrics like heart rate, temperature and sleep to give you an energy score. It also tracks temperature differences combined with your heart rate to try to give you a heads up if you may be getting sick. There's a stress score that tracks your stress level with various metrics. Heart Health tracking tracks your heart rate continuously, all day and night and monitors why your heart rate changes throughout the day. It will even give you your cardiovascular age. Activity tracking works really well. The ring automatically detects your activities during the day and is able to detect around 40 different activities. It counts your active calorie burn and allows you to set personal goals. The focus of the ring is all about overall health and wellness, from physical, to stress, to heart, to sleep and of course activity tracking. If you're a woman, there are a whole bunch of other predictions and information specifically geared to women's bodies. Compared to our smart watches that have maybe a day and a half of battery life, the Ring 5 gives you about a weeks worth of charge. Which is great since you basically wear it pretty much all the time. The included charger base is sized specifically for the ring size you purchase. It's a basic wireless charger, but Oura does offer a battery powered travel case that you can buy. I did order my wife one of these for when we go on trips. It works like an earbud case with an onboard battery that can charge the ring five times. So when you consider each charge lasts about a seven days, that's a pretty much 35 days of charge using the travel case. Step counts are fun to look at and when my wife finished one of her walks, she sent me a picture of her app, which displayed the route of her walk on a map. Very cool. The app itself is well laid out and really nice visually. It will also let you connect the Oura app to a number of other popular fitness apps like Strava and myfitness pal. For my wife, this ring really helped her re-connect with activity tracking with the added bonus of a sleep tracker. The seven (or more) days of battery life really make it easy to stay engaged and not have to worry about charging every day. I really believe this is the biggest plus about these rings; that and the fact that they look like quality jewelry and not a sports and fitness tracker. It's really comfortable to wear with the inner section that holds the sensors being made of a plastic material, and it's incredibly light weight. My wife has had hers for a couple weeks now and there's not a mark on it, it still looks brand new. And she wears it every day. I think compared with other brands of Smart Rings, this one is miles ahead. Oura focuses a lot of attention on things like their sensor accuracy and peer reviews. They are truly serious in producing a product that's ahead of the curve in every way. They take health tracking quite seriously and have a team of highly qualified independent medical experts that act as their advisors. I'm impressed with Oura's story and the way they look at fitness in every day life for all people. This is not a phone company trying to make another product in order to corner the market. Oura is a company that does Smart Rings, period. They are passionate about health and offering the most advanced Smart Rings possible. If you're curious about them (and you should be if you're considering a Smart Ring), visit they're web page. They lay out everything you want to know about them. Really quality product from a company that's serious about health tracking.

I used the sizing kit for 48 hours. Ordered the size 7. My fingers swell when I get warm and the 7 is a perfect fit. It’s tracking is great besides a few issues with it picking up me working out. Not really a big deal for me because I wanted it for my sleeping habits. It’s the most accurate device I have for my sleeping patterns. The battery is amazing. I charge it while I’m in the shower so I have no complaints.

Bought the Oura Ring 5 in silver, size 7, for my wife and she's been very happy with it. The fit was perfect and the silver finish looks sleek and stylish. She especially likes the detailed sleep and activity tracking, and the battery life has been impressive so far. Set up was straightforward and the app is easy to use. Overall, it's been a great purchase and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a smart ring with a premium feel.

It’s comfortable enough to wear all day and night, and the battery lasts several days. If you’re serious about understanding your health and improving your sleep, it’s definitely worth considering.

I have worn the Oura Ring 5 for the last two weeks and I can easily leave a positive review for it. This is my first smart ring. I do have a smart watch, and have for years, but due to battery life, I am unable to wear it to bed and have it track my sleep habits. That is probably my number one reason for getting the Ring 5 initially—to track my sleep habits and make sure that I am getting the rest and recovery that I need each night. I also got the Ring 5, to be honest, to wear as a wedding ring because it is made out of titanium and has a nice black finish on it that looks excellent. Serves as double-duty—helps track my health and shows off my marriage (28 years and still going strong!). I used the sizing kit to measure my finger. It comes with multiple sized plastic rings, and you receive it prior to getting the Ring 5. I tried on the 12 and the 13 rings, and really struggled to know which one to get. I’m generally a 12.5, and since the 12 felt a little too tight, I went with the 13. After receiving the size 13, I kind of wish that I had gone with the 12. The 13 does spin around on my ring finger, and the sensors will end up aiming in the wrong direction. So just a head’s up for prospective buyers: size carefully and maybe choose on the tighter end. I wasn’t sure what to expect when the Ring 5 showed up, but it was a surprise. It was lighter than light! After handling it, I thought for a moment that maybe it was made out of plastic and I was going to be disappointed if so. But I did some research online and saw that it was made out of titanium with a special coating (I got the gloss black), and that alleviated any concerns that I might have had with longevity and holding up under use. The Ring 5 is relatively narrow. I was expecting and maybe hoping for a wider ring, which would look a little better with my sausage fingers. That being said, The Ring 5 still looks great. The Ring 5 talks to a smartphone app. I installed it on my iOS device and it took only a few minutes to get everything set up. I’m not going to talk much about the app, since this review is about the ring itself, but the amount of information that is shared between the two is astonishing and takes a while to get used to. I am a big fan of the daytime stress score, which I have used to take breaks when it hits a high. I also like that it tracks activity better than my smart watch. It even seems to know what activities I am doing (yard work, walking, swimming, etc.) and logs that much better than my smart watch. I was shocked at the battery life that the Ring 5 has. I wear it everywhere—bed, work, exercising, etc. I’ve worn it for a week straight without a charge, and I am finally getting to the point that I need to charge it. It is water resistant, I wear it in the pool. I’ve done physical labor and then looked at it, thinking I probably just scratched it—nope, all good. This thing is tough! Charging it is easy, I love the charger. Just sit it on it and it charges quickly. I am a fan of the Ring 5. I haven’t had a smart ring before, and I am glad to give this one a try.

At first I wasn’t sure what to think of the new Oura Ring 5. This is my first experience with Oura. I expected that it would be like a fitness tracker in a beautiful form factor with some extra bells and whistles in the app. It turns out that’s not a fair comparison for a few reasons. First, emphasis is less on fitness and more on overall wellness. In fact, Oura is not particularly tuned to track workouts at all. It does so, but with data sharing turned on with my Apple Watch, Oura gladly defers to Apple Watch (and Apple’s Workouts and Fitness apps) for workout tracking. What Oura does best is monitoring the body’s signals continuously throughout the day and generating reports and suggestions for overall health, sleep, and readiness to face the day. Second, and more significantly, Oura is less a product than a service. The physical product itself is an incredible piece of engineering and technology, but it is designed to do almost nothing without a subscription to their service. It won’t even log data and send it to other apps like Apple Health without the subscription. On a practical level this means that the cost of ownership is more than the selling price of a ring, it also includes the annual subscription (currently around $60—and still completely worth the cost). On a theoretical level, though, it means that the use of the Oura ring is dependent on the continued good graces of the company: if at any time they go out of business, or if they decide to change their service agreement, the ring may revert to an overpriced fashion accessory. With that in mind, I’ll briefly describe the hardware, but this review is mostly about Oura as a service. AMAZING HARDWARE It’s a work of genius that the engineers were able to pack so much tech into such a small package. This little ring seems no larger than the piece of jewelry it appears to be, yet it’s full of advanced electronics. It has Bluetooth connectivity, sensors for temperature, motion, heart rate, and I’m not sure what else, and somehow there’s room left over for a battery. The battery easily lasts a week, though guidance is to charge it for a few minutes daily or so. When I get in a routine of dropping it on the charger while I shower or clean up, I never have to worry about it. It’s designed to collect biometric data continually, and it’s got built-in memory to store this data (they say up to 3 days) until it is able to upload it to the app. Visually, it looks really good. I got the Stealth color option, which is basically matte black, or like graphite. The inside is polished steel. I’ve been wearing it for nearly a month now, even during physical activities like washing dishes or even engine maintenance, and it hasn’t gotten any visible scratches or marks. I’m sure it’s not indestructible, but it seems plenty durable for normal use. Instructions say that the best operation will be with the sensors toward the bottom. There’s a mark on the exterior bottom which can help with this alignment. However, in my experience the ring tends to spin on my finger over the course of a day, so it’s rarely aligned properly. I can’t say I notice any difference in data quality, but it’s hard to tell. THE APP AND THE SERVICE The value of Oura Ring is almost entirely moderated by the service. In effect, you have to install the app and pay a subscription in order to get any use out of the ring. There are a few exceptions to needing the service, but even the bare minimum function (downloading some raw data) requires that the app be connected to their servers. In short, as amazing as the Ring 5 hardware is, it does virtually nothing without the Oura service. This is not necessarily a bad thing. By collecting all your data and processing it in the cloud, Oura is able to provide wonderful insights about each individual as well as how they compare to average users. Oura continually does large-scale research to improve their algorithms, predictions, and recommendations. In fact, I find myself checking the app multiple times a day to see what new information Oura has to share with me. Some insights are available immediately, while others require days or weeks of data before anything comes back—so at least for the first few months the information keeps getting better and more personal. Oura has several years’ history of experience understanding biometric data and presenting it in an simple and practical way; provided they stay on the same trajectory, I expect the insights to keep getting better over time. That said, it is worth keeping in mind that Oura—the company, not just the ring—is monitoring detailed health data from the ring constantly. All this information goes to their servers to get interpreted. To make this happen, I had to download the app, make an account, and agree to their terms of service. The Terms of Service is long, about 35 pages if I were to print it out. The attached Privacy Policy itself is almost as long. On the one hand, it’s good that they take privacy seriously since they are handling tons of personal HIPAA protected health information. On the other hand, at least from a practical and logistic perspective, giving all this data to Oura puts them in a position of control. If possession is nine tenths of the law, then all that data belongs to Oura. It’s only because they agree to share it with me that I get any benefit from it. This is a really big distinction from the way many other fitness trackers work. When you buy a thermometer and use it to check your body temperature, you have full control over what to do with the results and who to share it with. When Oura checks your temperature, they know the results first and they decide what to do with that information, including sharing it with you. They do this so that they can verify, process, validate, and interpret the information—so instead of just telling you your temperature is a little high, they can offer context and actionable insight. This is really fantastic, in my opinion. But it comes with a risk. I’ll leave it to the sci fi writers and techno theorists what harms could come with a data leak from Oura, but for me the obvious risk is in changes to the company and the user agreement. What happens if they go out of business? If they get bought out? If they decide to raise the subscription rates? All these are out of my control and could drastically change how I am able to use the Oura Ring and the information it provides. This risk isn’t enough for me to say stay away, but it’s worth thinking about before making a long-term investment in this product. Once I got to use the service, I’ve been really excited about it. As I found, the focus is not on fitness, tracking steps, or other simple metrics. Rather, it’s on overall health and wellness. If anything, (for me at least) there’s been an emphasis on sleep and rest to help me be fully ready for each day. Insights are very personalized. While I can’t say they’ve always been helpful (but the system is still learning my particulars) they are interesting enough that I find myself checking the app multiple times a day to see what it will tell me. It has given me good suggestions to improve my sleep quality, alertness, and overall energy levels. I work a desk job, and I often feel drained and restless at the same time. But with Oura’s suggestions to focus on sleep and recovery, I am finding that my energy levels are not just about physical movement. They also are influenced by my sleep patterns and whether I have restful periods during the day. The app isn’t perfect, though. Almost every time I open it, I have to wait 5-10 seconds for it to “update” and load various panes. If I try to scroll around before then the panes jump around and I have to scroll again. Also, a good portion of the insights are generated at least in part by a LLM. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make me feel like I’m wading through AI slop a lot of the time, and I’m never certain that what I’m reading isn’t a hallucination. Finally, there have been times when indicators from the ring were clearly misinterpreted. For example, one night I had a hard time sleeping because my AC wasn’t working as well as it should. Oura saw an elevated temperature and thought I might be getting sick. This type of misinterpretation may work itself out as Oura collects more data, but it’s hard to tell after only a month. Overall, I’m definitely impressed with what this thing does. The hardware is nearly magical, and the software seems like it will continue to learn more about me and get better for months to come. I’m looking forward to seeing it. However, the app glitches and the fact that everything goes through Oura’s cloud servers leave me slightly worried that the system may not always live up to its current promises.

Bottom Line: The Oura Ring 5 delivers accurate sensing and excellent battery life in an amazingly thin and light design. Pros: extremely light; looks great; good biometric tracking; battery life Cons: Subscription-based model for full features Full Review: My ring is a size 11 in the silver finish. Out of the box, I was shocked at how thin and light it is. It’s not much thicker than my wedding band, but the Oura is noticeably a lot lighter. The silver finish looks great, and both my wife and I agree it could, indeed, be worn as a wedding band for those interested in for the most discreet look possible (although Oura recommends you wear the ring on your index finger). After straightforward setup in the app, your ring gets right to work tracking heart rate and activity monitoring. For the latter, the sensors do a good job of picking up on activity and movement, which is then used to build your health and activity profile over time. I particularly like the sleep tracking feature, since it’s much less obtrusive to wear the ring to sleep than a smart watch. The sleep report was easy to read, and I’ve actually gained a lot of insight into my sleep patterns over the past few weeks. That said, many of the health insights do require longer tracking periods. The blood oxygen sensor, for instance, requires a walking test or multiple week use period before giving you an assessment of your cardio health. Other insights require days, weeks, or even months of data to construct, although once built the insights are helpful. The app also provides suggestions on activity to improve those metrics. Battery life is excellent. Since getting the Oura right, I’ve worn it almost continuously, only removing it to wash dishes, shower, or to charge. In my experience so far, I’ve been getting about 10 days out of a single charge., As a new Oura user, the biggest drawback, I think, is that full functionality requires a subscription, and it’s not immediately clear what will work without it (new members do get the first month free). Oura’s website FAQ simply says the app will function but insights, personal health data, and benefits will be “much more limited.” Last, and this is true of any subscription/cloud-based product, Oura will be collecting, storing, and analyzing your health data, and so buyers should be aware and that as well.

After having an Oura ring 4 for a while, and loving it, I decided to not only upgrade to the 5 but to change the color. Most of my jewelry is gold, but the Oura 4 gold just wasn’t the same. Also with the cost difference I decided to go with the silver. With this upgrade, I went with the gold and love it! The smaller size is great for my smaller hands and the battery lasts so much longer!

The Oura Ring 5 brings several welcome upgrades, but its biggest improvement is the smaller, lighter design. The slimmer profile makes it noticeably more comfortable for all-day and overnight wear, while the enhanced sensors and new health features add meaningful value without sacrificing battery life. For many users, the reduced size alone makes this a worthwhile refinement over previous generations.

I love it and I use it every day. It accurately tracks my sleep and steps.I love it and I use it every day. It accurately tracks my sleep and steps. The battery life is still amazing after one year of everyday use. It's very durable although it does scratch and tarnish, but that is normal for jewelry and I don't mind since this is a tool for everyday use.

Excellent at measuring sleep statistics and oxygen saturation night. Battery life is excellent at about a week or so. Very comfortable. Waterproof. Not quite as great at picking up heart rate with exercising but overall fantastic product
