I love my oura ring!! Very insightful for my health and sleeping habits. My only struggle is remembering to remove my ring and dry underneath after washing my hands. If I forget my finger will get really dry.

As someone keen on optimizing health and fitness, I eagerly purchased the Oura Fitness Ring, drawn in by its promises of insightful data tracking and seamless integration into daily life. However, my experience fell far short of expectations, primarily due to the discomfort it caused during wear. Upon receiving the ring, I was initially impressed by its sleek design and promising features. However, as soon as I slipped it onto my finger, I encountered immediate discomfort. The ring felt bulkier and less ergonomic than expected, causing irritation and pressure points on my finger throughout the day. Despite persisting for several days in the hopes of acclimating to the device, the discomfort only intensified, making it unbearable to wear for extended periods. Even during sleep, the ring proved disruptive, often waking me up due to its uncomfortable fit. In terms of functionality, while the Oura Fitness Ring boasted impressive tracking capabilities, including sleep quality, activity levels, and heart rate monitoring, these features were overshadowed by the persistent discomfort it caused. Ultimately, the discomfort outweighed any potential benefits, rendering the device impractical for daily use. In light of my experience, I found it necessary to return the Oura Fitness Ring to Best Buy for a refund.

I’ve been using a smart watch and a smart band to monitor my daily activity goals and to track sleep. I’ve often found the simple task of tracking sleep with one of these to be a bit cumbersome, with them often hitting something or coming off while sleeping. The OURA ring is a different kind of device. It’s both stylish; looking like every day jewelry on your hand, while stealthily monitoring your vitals, tracking your activities, and keeping you moving throughout the day. They come in a variety of sizes and does require a smart phone with an app to pair with the ring. This review is focused on the newer generation ring, which is a round ring. The ring I opted to get, was a silver Gen 3 Horizon ring. When you initially order the ring, you’re sent a ring sizing kit within a day or two. OURA does a great job with providing a video instruction on how to find the best size for your daily use. They recommend using either your index or middle fingers for the best fit and the best chance to monitor you while you’re active. I ended up with a size 12, which I wear on my left hand middle finger. In the box, you’ll find the ring, a charging base, a USB A to C cable, and owners manual. You’ll need to provide your own charging adapter, like the one you already use for a cell phone or other smart devices. Once you’ve connected the charger and placed the ring on the base, the LED light on the charger will indicate it’s ready for set up. You’ll need to install the OURA app, which is free in both major app stores (iOS and Android). Once you’ve had the chance to sign in and setup the app, adding the ring is straight forward. The app discovers the ring quickly, at which point you follow the prompts to begin. The set up itself will take several minutes, so be sure to keep your phone near the ring while it fully pairs up and you finish any available updates. The Horizon ring is stylish enough to wear as a compliment to your daily wardrobe. It’s also durable enough to wear all day, without fear of it falling off, washing your hands, going for a quick swim, or wearing overnight while you sleep. The ring has several sensors around the inside, all doing their part to monitor your vitals and report back to the app for you to review. Once you’re in the app, you’re welcomed with readiness, sleep, and activity scores, which provides you with a rating up to 100 for each. Using this score, the app will recommend you slow down and relax to recover from your previous days activities or recommend another workout. You can even drill down from day, week, month, and even year’s worth of data points for each. I will say, of all the features, I’ve found the sleep score the most impactful to my nightly routine. I tried using smart bands and watches to keep track during previous attempts, but found them to be uncomfortable to sleep with. This often led to misleading or missing data points, keeping those companion apps from tracking my sleep. The Oura ring, one the other hand, has been comfortable to wear all day and throughout the night. The drill down in the sleep tab averages your total sleep time, efficiency, REM sleep, and even the timing of when you go to bed. You’re also presented with notifications throughout the day with reminders to get up and move around. The long battery life also means I can often go 2 to 4 days, depending on level of activity, without needing to charge. Charging the device can take a 15-20 minutes or a little over an hour if it’s near 0% battery charge. I generally charge mine while I’m in the shower and get ready for my day. Once I get the notification from the Oura App that it’s charged to 100% (assuming you’re near the ring), I put it back on. Overall, I’m really happy with the Oura Ring. I’ve been able to sport this while out at a wedding, getting compliments for the shine, and when I’m going about my day to day activities without worrying about losing it. This has to be the best and easiest health monitor I’ve ever used. No buttons to push, charging is easy, cleaning is simple, and its comfortable to wear all day.

Nice ring, quite confortable. But be prepared to pay another $5.99 a month on top of the price of the ring, without the subsription you literally get 0 information. Many fitness trackers at least show you your basics like heart rate and calories, then they hide the algoryth behind pay walls. This is just bad
