    Plastic ring - #disappointed

Unfortunately, this ring is made of a plastic material, and my husband was not comfortable wearing it when he lifted heavy weights, or did pull ups. He felt like it would crack, scratch, and/or break, and it just did not seem sturdy enough to take a lot of abuse from weights or weight training. When I asked other people how they used the ring, it seems that most people who use this product are more into cardio and cross training. Others said they take it off when they lift, if they chose to lift heavy. However, it defeats the purpose of all around tracking if you take the ring off when you are working out, so I had to return it an find another way for fitness tracking for him. It's unfortunate as we had high hopes for this product. #disappointed.

Product has a lot of cool features, however it would often shock me. My ring would also die very quickly. I wouldn't buy this again. Scratched VERY easily.

I'm not particularly fond of this ring. I find under all areas it doesn't keep accurate records. I'll sleep for over 8 hours a night and it shows I only slept for 3 or 4.

I got charged an extra 59$ because I originally bought it when it was on sale, then had to exchange it for the same ring just in a different size and they made me pay full price. They wouldn’t refund me and I spent 4 weeks going back and fourth with them about it. Told me I would be refunded several times and that the refund was processed and I NEVER got it. I was told to check with my bank as well to see if it was on hold and I got printed bank statements that told me nothing was ever done. Then within the 4th week of waiting for my refund, I was told I was never going to get the refund.

Do yourself a favor and purchase your ring anywhere but from Best Buy! If it it doesn’t work out for you, you only have 15 days to return compared to the 30 that Amazon and Oura offer. Even though it’s sometimes nice to drop into a store quick to get something same day, I won’t be shopping here again. Ps. Oura ring is ok. Fun to see score for the first few weeks but novelty wears off. I cancelled my trial membership and the battery doesn’t last very long.

Accurate Tracking Hampered By Paid Subscription

PROS Tracking, especially sleep tracking, is extremely accurate Built-in meditation, breathing, and sleeping media is a nice addition Great emphasis on rest and recovery, with sleep reminders and suggestions Detailed metrics breaking down sleep, readiness, & activity scores Heart rate variability, body temperature, blood oxygen, respiratory rate, & much more detailed tracking Syncs with other health apps like Google Fit for centralized health tracking Titanium design is lightweight and looks very good as a daily accessory Almost a full week of battery life on a full charge It is comfortable to wear for long periods of time CONS Continued detailed tracking past 30 days requires a paid subscription, without which, you lose many of the most useful features Not as great of a workout tracker, being uncomfortable for weights or other fitness activities which require gripping/holding objects or friction on your hands At least for me, automatic workout detection could be a bit hit or miss, working better for running/biking outdoors but less for indoor workouts Still a bit thicker than a normal ring, which makes it less comfortable on ring or middle finger (index finger is recommended, which might not suit everyone’s tastes) SO-SO Sizing process generally works, but isn’t perfect, as I found my size differed by a noticeable degree from sizing kit to final ring Comes with all the considerations of wearing a ring like being a fixed size with no adjustments, more susceptible to everyday scuff, easier to misplace, no display for live tracking (need to use app), etc. THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT This is a piece of tech I really wanted to love, and in many ways I do, but is held back by a number of things that, after living with the ring for 2 weeks now, make it a bit harder to recommend. For me, I really wanted something that could track my sleep in detail, track my workouts, and be unobtrusive to wear day to day. When it comes to sleep, the ring is unmatched. The sleep tracking, especially with the new sleep staging beta, seems dead accurate, even picking up on quick naps or small blips of being awake at night. I don’t know if it is because it is on the finger, or the multiple new sensors in the ring, but for sleep tracking, I felt that the Oura Ring Gen 3 was outstanding, often getting my sleep right down to the minute. The only piece that I think it struggled with a bit was the falling asleep time. I have always been fast to fall asleep, which tended to hurt my sleep score as it suggested I was falling asleep quickly because I was over tired, however, even if I would try and meditate in bed first, I would still often get dinged on falling asleep too quick, but once asleep, it seemed to pick up really well. I also was consistently told I wasn’t getting enough REM sleep in my sleep score, even on nights where I got 8+ hours of consistent sleep, although with the sleep staging beta it seemed to be tracking REM a bit differently and arguably more accurately, as I have high heart rate variability, so that may get integrated into the revised scoring in the future. Overall though, I loved the sleep tracking depth and accuracy. For daily wear, the ring is also largely great, although with a few caveats. Like any ring, it is rigid and non adjustable, so you need to be careful when using the sizing kit to make sure you choose the right size and plan for what finger you plan to wear the ring on day after day. Even using the sizing ring for 24 hours, I found my chosen ring size (12) was a bit off from what I really needed when the final ring came. I generally wore the ring on my index finger like Oura recommends, and the size was good but just a bit tight for my liking, especially when I would workout and/or my fingers would swell. If I moved it to my ring finger, which is a bit smaller, the ring would fit a bit large, which made it too loose for my liking. Additionally, while the ring is impressively thin for a smart device (and extremely light), it is a bit thicker than a normal band, which also made it more uncomfortable for me on my ring finger. The index finger was really the most accurate for tracking and the most comfortable to wear, although as a style, I wasn’t a fan of wearing an index finger ring personally. So I recommend you give some real thought to what finger(s) you plan to wear the ring on when doing your sizing if you choose to buy this ring. That all being said, as a ring, the tracker is also very unobtrusive and easy to wear. I often forgot I had it on, and given there is no screen/display, it really is an activity tracker that can blend into the background without much fuss or notice. In terms of style, it looks great in silver, and while I have noticed some light scuffs, the metal has held up very well the last few weeks. It is very easy to wear for 24 hours a day without issue, although like I mentioned earlier, as your finger changes sizes, you may find some discomfort as the sensors press into your finger, and so I personally did tend to remove the ring for some minutes throughout the day or switch fingers if I felt I needed it. For workout tracking, this is where I felt the ring fell the most short for me personally. Because it is a ring, you have no display, and so you do not get things like real-time heart rate displayed or calories burned. Instead, you need to be using the app, which is less ideal if you want to keep track of your effort during a workout, without needing to continually check your phone. If you prefer passive tracking, this may be less of an issue however. For me though, the bigger issue is that, as a ring, it really isn’t great for wearing while working out. Yes, for running, biking, and walking it tends to work better, although I still don’t like wearing jewelry while doing these things (apart from walking), however this ring is very difficult to use with weightlifting, rowing, or other workouts that involve you gripping something. As someone who lifts weights, does conditioning circuits, and rows a lot, I found I needed to take the ring off a lot for workouts, especially those in a gym, which meant I needed to manually add my workouts in the app later. This process is pretty much the same as you would have for Google Fit or other free health apps where you input your workout type, duration, and effort level (light, moderate, or intense) and it will add that estimate to your activity for the day. It is very basic and feels less rewarding overall, but due to the nature of the ring form factor, is really unavoidable. Likewise, I also didn’t have great luck with the automatic workout detection. For outdoor workouts, it did seem to work a bit better distinguishing between running, walking, and biking, but for indoor workouts, I still had to use the manual workout entries a lot. Other than heart rate measurements, the workout tracking functionality just feels underwhelming compared to the rest, recovery, and daily activity tracking. On that note, where this ring really does excel is in rest and recovery. It can tell you your blood oxygen level, body temperature, respiratory rate, heart rate, heart rate variability, and much more. For women, it can perform period prediction, and does a great job of highlighting when it feels you need more rest, like if you are getting sick and your temperature is rising, or if you are fatigued. The app places a lot of emphasis on recovery and sleep, including providing guided meditations and other media to help. It also encourages you to move throughout the day, and provides suggestions for sleeping time based on your routines. I really like the recovery features. All of this being said, this device requires a monthly subscription after the first 30 days, otherwise you lose a lot of the features that make this device worth owning. From what I could research, you still get sleep, activity, and readiness scores, but you lose the breakdowns of what is contributing to those scores, and continuous tracking over time of a lot of the unique metrics the ring has. This to me is a real shame, because you are paying for a device that loses almost all features that make it useful unless you pay a monthly fee. While this subscription means you should get new features over time, you are paying today for features promised in the future, and that requires a lot of trust in the company and how they will keep improving/supporting their device. Unlike other fitness devices, which still give you the core functionality but offer incremental or early access features for a subscription, with this you lose almost any reason you would want to pay for a premium activity tracker without the subscription, making the initial cost of the ring feel more like a down payment on a service rather than a product you are investing in. If you decide you can’t or don’t want to pay the monthly fee anymore, you are left with a device that offers basic tracking, but won’t give you much more than many cheaper trackers or free fitness apps would provide you. Because of the paid subscription model and what you lose without it, as well as the relatively tame workout tracking features, and inability to use the ring for many of my favorite workouts, I have a hard time recommending it. If I could still use the ring as a daily activity/sleep tracker with metrics, I would likely recommend it, but paying for those features continuously on top of the device cost is just too much for me as a consumer. That being said, if your workouts are mainly cardio focused without needing weights or gripping, you need/want an unobtrusive activity tracker, and you don’t mind paying a monthly fee to get the key features/new future features, then you may want to give this a look, as its detailed tracking really is some of the most accurate I have ever seen.

If you lose the smallest about of weight the ring will not fit properly. Its also very clunky on the finger its supposed to be on. There is also a need for more controls and information. Like set your bed time, and a few other things. Over all the concept is nice but it would be better off as a bracelet.
