Very good, just know what you are getting
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, the Gen3 Oura ring is a great health tracker, with a few faults. What's in the box: The ring, a charging stand and a getting started guide. Getting started: First of all, SIZE YOUR RING! Don't guess. Get the free sizing kit and wear around a couple sizes for a day and get a good pick on the size. Once you have done this and receive the actual ring, setup is a piece of cake. Download the app and charge the ring on the stand. With the ring on the stand you fire up the app and follow the steps. It just takes a few minutes. Use: the Gen3 can measure quite a few factors including motion, heart rate, body temperature and blood oxygen level. It uses these measurements throughout the day to determine a few factors and will give you overall scores. The "main" score is the readiness score which combines all the factors from the previous day and gives you an overall look at your readiness for the day. Also scored daily are sleep and activity. Readiness score: This combines a multitude of factors including resting heart rate, heart rate variability, body temperature, recovery, sleep and previous days activity. Combining all of this information will give you a score which is essentially a number from 0-100. Anything above 85 is optimal, below that is getting to the point where you need to recover more. If you get a lower score, the app will tell you what part effected the score and what you need to work on "recovering". Sleep Score: This combines total sleep, how quickly you fall asleep and how much REM, deep and light sleep you have. As well as what time you go to sleep and awake. The ring is very sensitive to movement, as well as heart rate and body temperature. In the couple weeks I've been using the ring, it seems to be fairly accurate in my sleep detection. The ring does automatically detect when you go to sleep and when you wake up, and it is very accurate. It will also detect naps and adjust your sleep and readiness scores. Activity: Here is where it does faulter some. Think of the ring as more of a sleep and overall movement tracker, that also does some activity tracking. This is not your main activity tracker, nor does it sync with any devices to provide heart rate during a workout (other than internally on the app, and not very well at that). I still use a watch when I'm actively working out, and using the apple health app it will transfer information back and forth. Also, when doing workouts with weights, you DO NOT want to wear rings anyway. The app provides some basic active activity tracking such as an outdoor walk, but thats about it. You can't, for example, use it to track your heart rate (very well) during a spin class. Battery life and charging: I tend to get 4-5 days of battery life out of the ring. Since there is no screen you must rely on the app to check battery status. You do run the possibility of having the watch die and you not knowing, and then losing out of valuable tracking information. You will get a notification on your phone to charge the ring, but if you receive that when you are not able to charge it....chances are you'll forget. The down side to not charging it nightly is you are not in a habit of charging it, and you can easily forget. The good part of the charging is it is very quick. You'll be back up and running within 30 minutes. With all of this in mind. The ring is very good. Do not plan to use it as your main activity tracker and you will be fine. This is very good at all other aspects, and does track sleep better than my previous watch based tracker.

Pleasantly surprised and unexpectedly helpful!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the Oura Gen 3. I wasn’t skeptical, but I did wonder how a ring would perform as an adjunct into my health and sleep monitoring. Let’s talk about it. The ordering process is rather straight forward. Oura will send you a sizing kit, which contains plastic rings of all their sizes. These sizing rings are very accurate in comparison to the actual Oura Ring itself. I chose a size 13, which is the largest size available at the time of this review. Once you choose your size you simply log back into your account and place your order. My ring arrived in just under a week. The packaging is rather minimal - the ring, charging dock and cable, and standard issue paperwork. I downloaded the iOS app on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and used the easy to follow guide to pair and setup my ring. My Oura had a charge of 90% on arrival. I did not add any additional charge, and placed the ring on my finger to begin use. This was a Wednesday at 6:00pm. On Saturday at 1:00pm I had 37% remaining. I placed the ring on the charging puck, which is well designed and minimalistic in design. It aligns the ring in the proper position each time and has a light to indicate charging status. The Oura was placed on the charger at 1:00pm with 37% and reached 100% at 2:10pm. Battery life and charging speeds have been excellent. The iOS app is great. You can see the ring and battery status, and after some use you can view fitness and sleep activity. It will also prompt you around bedtime and provides great information about your sleep habits and quality. I use Apple Health with my iPhone and the Apple Watch Ultra. Comparing information between those devices and the Oura Ring Gen 3 showed very similar results. Nothing so far off that it made me wonder which is most accurate. I view my Oura Ring as a great companion to my overall health monitoring, but not a replacement for my iPhone / Apple Watch Ultra combo. I can see this as a great option for those who do not have a smart watch, or those who do but need to charge their watch overnight. The Oura definitely has its place. Heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep patterns and quality, it just all seems to work well and be accurate. The Oura Ring is very comfortable to wear for days on end. I never felt uncomfortable or any chaffing, even when sweating. When exercising, specifically with free weights, I did notice the ring was a bit cumbersome and wanted to clink up to the handles. However, this is really going to be with any ring, not a fault of Oura. Otherwise, this is very comfortable and you just sort of forget you’re wearing it. Durability is fair. Now I never had any fear of the ring breaking. It really is solid and well made. However, after having used the Oura Ring for about three weeks there are definitely noticeable scratches, albeit mild. It is still a beautiful and simplistic ring, but you can notice if you’re looking. I used this in water, showering, cooking, dishes, you name it. Definitely no water damage and easily wipes clean when dirty. I was given 30 days of the premium app features, but then there is a subscription to keep those features. The base free features are quite minimal, and to use the features that make this ring worth owning, you will need the subscription, so keep this in mind. Overall I have been pleasantly surprised and pleased with the Oura Ring Gen 3. Minus the minimal visible wear indications, and the lack of features on the unpaid plan, this is a great ring.

Stay informed about your health!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am absolutely in love with the new Gen3 Oura ring for the style, my health, and overall physical awareness. After completing sizing, I ended up getting the silver ring which has a smooth clean looking polished finish to wear on my non dominant pointer finger. There are a few sensors in the ring measuring different statistics to give you a daily health "readiness" for the day. It supposedly takes 2 weeks to learn your behaviors to give you the most accurate picture as to who you are and your motivations such as "improve my health", "improve athletic performance", "manage stress", "develop learning skills and creativity, be more present and focused, and my focus area is "be productive and energetic". Your profile has your body metrics like height/weight, date of birth, current sleep patterns and more. Another great thing, the battery lasts almost a week in this tiny ring without ever charging. That being said, I usually chuck it on the charger while I shower and it's full by the time I'm done so I don't miss any real activity with the watch on the charger. Once you're up and running, you'll never ask yourself why you feel tired ever again. Take for instance last night. I slept a total of 5.5 hours which was not enough based on my activity level from the day before. The Oura ring tracks your sleep cycles in a beta format, your overnight oxygen saturation which is great for those snorers or those at risk for sleep apnea, and other factors that contribute to your sleep scores such as how long it took to fall asleep, total sleep, and resting heart rate. When you wake up, too early this morning in my case, when you open the app your ring will sync and you'll have your sleep score, readiness for the day score with activity recommendations and the ideal time to go to bed. I would say it is super accurate in predicting how tired or energetic I will feel based on my stats and I am able to look at trends and last nights sleep to see where I screwed up my readiness for the day! This works because it makes you aware of your day to day health and sleep because you can't fix a problem you don't know exists. Lastly are exercises that range from breathing work and meditation, sleep suggestions/stories, and more learning content such as "how dreaming can help regulate emotions". Also helpful are notifications reminding me to stretch my legs sent to my phone. How they squeezed all of this tech into a normal size ring is absolutely amazing. I can confidently recommend this to anyone who wants to be more aware of their day to day health and wanting to feel their best. It is convenient, stylish, a great compliment to my other health wearables, and I feel more aware of what is going on with me and how I am feeling and that feels good. Thanks Oura!

Fantastic tracker! Get one.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Oura ring and accompanying app are incredible for anyone who wants to really get a handle on their daily fitness and sleep habits. First, the ring itself is very nice looking, comfortable to wear, and seems very durable. Even after wearing for several days in a somewhat harsh work environment, it shows absolutely zero scratches. Hopefully, it will maintain its appearance for quite some time. After an initial charge and the obligatory firmware update, the ring paired quickly and easily to the app. Although there is obviously a lot of tech crammed into this ring, the app is where the Oura really shines. The amount of data is absolutely incredible. Aside from the standard step counts and calorie burn information, there is a ton of information to drill down into about your daily movements. And for sleep it breaks down everything from light to REM and even lets you look at the accompanying heartrate and blood oxygen level information. With the Sleep, Readiness, and Activity scores, the app gives you some hints on how to improve each one and you can see if small changes each day make a difference in each. I can’t say enough about the depth and breadth of information the Oura ring collects and tracks and how helpful it can be in improving your daily life. If you are looking for a high quality and nearly invisible tracker, the Oura ring is definitely for you!

Elevate Your Wellness
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love my Oura Ring! This sleek and stylish device has completely transformed the way I approach my health and well-being. The accuracy of the sleep tracking is impressive, providing detailed insights into my sleep patterns and helping me make meaningful adjustments for a more restful night. The activity tracking is equally fantastic, keeping me motivated to stay active throughout the day. The ring itself is comfortable to wear, and I appreciate how it seamlessly integrates into my daily life without feeling intrusive. The app is user-friendly, offering a wealth of information in a visually appealing and easy-to-understand format. The personalized recommendations based on my data have been incredibly valuable, guiding me towards healthier habits. Not only is the Oura Ring a powerful health tool, but its battery life is impressive, lasting several days on a single charge. The build quality is top-notch, and I appreciate the attention to detail in both design and functionality. It's become an indispensable part of my routine, and I highly recommend the Oura Ring to anyone looking to take control of their health in a stylish and convenient way!

Stunning technology in a small device
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Oura ring is a must for anyone wanting to track their workouts, health, sleeping, calorie burn, heart rate and more without wearing a bulky watch on their wrist. I was taken back by how much this little device offers and how much data it collects. The process starts with a ring sizing kit to make sure that a perfect fit is achieved right from the start. There is no guessing, as the fit is extremely important for accurate measurements. I have compared the results with other devices and this is extremely accurate. While each device measures slightly different, the end result comes out very similar. The ring is comfortable and looks like another piece of jewelry on the hand. Once the application is open on the phone, the ring updates in a matter of seconds. There are a couple of settings that important to set right of the box. Location services must be enabled to map ones route for walking and I recommend turning on blood oxygen sensing to track oxygen levels while sleeping. The ring does a nice job of tracking sleeping metrics such as total duration, efficiency, restfulness, REM sleep time, latency, heart rate and blood oxygen level irregularities. Since the ring is collecting blood oxygen levels, I wish that it gave the actual numbers rather than simply showing irregularities graphically. It would be great to know what levels were actually measured from a percentage number. One of the most impressive things about the ring is the battery life. I only need to charge this once to twice per week and it recharges quickly. I have everything possible turned on and it still lasts for several days without needing to be charged.

One ring to rule them all!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for a conversation piece that greatly compares to other fitness trackers in the market, look no further. I was drawn to the fact that it is a ring versus a wrist watch. My wrists are small so finding watches that fit well and aren't too bulky are general problems for me. I went with the Horizon Silver and it looks very simple. The only issues I have with this ring is that you have to wear it on your index finger and the size. They say if you really want to wear it on your middle finger, that's fine but you might not get as accurate readings. I do not wear rings on my index finger very often so this took some getting used to. The other thing that took some getting used to was the size. The ring felt very large on my finger so it was annoying to wear at first. My hands are small so adding something that has a little bit of bulk, stands out a little more. Once I got past the physical aspects of the ring, it was all positive. The app was easy to use and provided more than expected. Once you get a couple of weeks of data, the app starts to recognize patterns and gives advice on improving your lifestyle. I really enjoyed the sleep tracking section. It not only told me the amount of time I was in REM sleep, etc., it told me when I needed to go to bed, and how to develop better sleeping habits. The app was also helpful in giving daily goals like getting up and walking. It had sessions for meditation, breathing, and more that was really helpful. Overall Oura really knocked it out of the park. I think anyone who gets one is going to be really happy and impressed with the results and capabilities.

It's good, just not for Me
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always been intrigued by the Oura line of products, but never put the money down. Unfortunately, in the end I found out it wouldn't be the best fit for me. The Oura Ring is geared more towards sleep wellness and recovery but does all the activity tracking with all the relevant stats, just in a more passive way. Don't expect coaching or activities like you would from other devices. I was hesitant to utilize while weight lifting as to not damage the device. It is hit or miss on recognizing when you're exercising, sometimes it would catch on immediately, other times it would realize a few hours after I've finished working out. Furthermore, it does sync/merge with Apple Health and Strava, but if you ulitize any other health/fitness platform, it seems you'd be out of luck. I found during my time that, I would forget the ring to wear the ring for days at time as I'm not use to wearing accessories that go on my fingers, so I would have gaps in my activity. But the battery does last a few days at a time before needing to be recharged which is nice. Speaking of charging, it does charge pretty quickly. I saw 5% to 90% in the 45 minutes it takes me to get ready for the day. Additionally, the charging stand/puck is probably the worst part of the experience in using the Ring. It doesn't have a non slip bottom, it's tiny and gets knocked around easily. Overall, the Oura Ring Gen 3 is a great way to monitor your vitals and habits, but in your face way.

Great health tracking
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've heard of various smart rings in the past but always used a smart watch from Apple previously and now the pixel watch. I always have a watch on me except when I sleep because I charge it at night and I also don't like sleeping with it on anyways. This ring actually solves that issue and I can sleep track with this ring among other things . All this being said I would suggest ordering the ring sizing kit so you can get the right size for your finger. You want it to be snug and not exactly loose but also comfortable on your finger. After you choose the size you tell the company oura on a link that sets up your account and they will then ship you you're ring. It comes with a charger that is size specific, USB c cable to charge it and also a one month membership to their services. It's $5.99 a month and you get everything they include for the data it collects but you don't need to pay to use the ring. You get basic functions like basic sleep tracking , activity and readiness. The best part of this ring is that it is waterproof enough you don't need to take it off to shower or wash your hands but I probably wouldn't test it swimming in deep water. As as tracking goes it tracks your activities like workouts and etc. What I primarily track is my sleep and my heart rate . This tells me when I go to sleep and my different stages like Deep, REM and light and when I am awake as well. Also shows my my blood oxygen levels while I sleep as well which is great

Works so nice I got it twice.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you take your health and fitness seriously an Oura Ring is the perfect companion. It seems not a day goes by now that I don't see someone else wearing their Oura Ring. I think the first thing to realize is that the Oura ring and app is more of a lifestyle coach rather than a sports/fitness gadget. Yes, it has all the sensors for body temperature, pulse ox and heart beat and it also measures your activity and sleep but it presents the data to you such that you can improve and be your best self. Best Buy makes it even easier to get your ring since you won’t have to wait for the sizing kit, find your correct size, order and wait for the actual ring to show up. Now stop in your local Best Buy, get sized on the spot, pick your ring and walk out in one stop. The Horizon Gen3 is my second Oura Ring, an upgrade from my Heritage Gen2 and overall I’m glad I upgraded. Setting up the ring for the first time is easy. Install the app, set the ring on the charger which puts it in pairing mode and connect it to the app. Fill out your profile and focus and you’re off. As this was an upgrade, switching between old and new was easy and no data was lost. Gen 3 rings add new sensors for daytime and workout heart rate along with nighttime pulse ox and better body temperature. But the real magic happens with the app. The app is categorized into three main areas, Readiness, Sleep and Activity with a home screen that shows a quick summary of everything. Each area is shown as a tab or card that collects relevant data and gives a score out of 100. . It also has guided meditations and advice to better your life. The Readiness card shows how prepared you should be for the day ahead. The Sleep card shows how well you slept which is my favorite tab, getting to see the different stages of sleep you go through. The Activity tab rates you based on your fitness goals and success. There is also an Explore tab where you can access the catalog of life lessons, motivational videos, guided meditations and sleep stories. The media is useful but I find it somewhat limited but it is growing. Even though you can get some readings at the moment, I feel the Oura Ring is better suited as a recording device that you look back on rather than follow live. Oura pairs with my Apple Fitness and Strava keeping all my data and readings in one location. As far as the ring itself, I personally like the style of the Horizon since it looks like a large silver ring. The fit is comfortable even with the sensor bumps on the palm side of the ring. The Heritage model seems to be the “original” ring with the flat top. This is nice if it's important for people to know you have an Oura Ring and the classic telling point. The battery life is rated for seven days but with all the sensors active it's been a struggle to get much more than three days. My previous Gen 2 ring was holding it's charge for about five days. I find it's easiest to just place the ring on the charger each day when I shower and haven't had any issues doing this. It is important to note there is a $5.99 monthly subscription fee to use all the features of the app after the first 30 days and it's only available on a monthly basis currently. I would like the ability to pay for a year at a time. Overall I really like my Oura Ring and recommend it to anyone who wants a stylish way to monitor their health goals.

The best device you should NEVER buy.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best device you should never buy. First, to be perfectly clear - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I will go into the details at the end of this review why, but I will first go over features, functions and benefits of the Oura Ring 3 sans the deal breaker. I’ve been using the Oura Ring Gen3 for almost 3 weeks now and it is nothing short of amazing. The Oura Ring has multiple temperature sensors, a green LED heart rate sensor, an accelerometer and a SpO2 sensor to record blood oxygen levels. All of in a sleek, attractive little package. It’s too bad that I cannot recommend it, in fact I would steer clear of it altogether. Before we get to the reason why, let’s get into the specifics about the ring. Set up – This was interesting. The first thing you need to do is to check your ring size before you buy. Oura has a kit that has different plastic ring sizes. You pick what fits best, then go to Oura’s website to pick your ring. When the ring arrived, it fit exactly as I expected. The rest is a standard set up - charge the ring, download the app and follow the instructions. I was up and running in 30 minutes (it was charged full in 25 minutes.) A note on the charging, Oura uses a proprietary charging stand that matches the size to the ring. If you need a replacement, it is costly and is listed on Oura’s website. There are no other options. Build quality – There are various colors to choose from and I picked the silver color. I was impressed with the outstanding initial fit and finish. It looks like a decent piece of jewelry. I have only been using it for 3 weeks so I cannot speak to how well it holds up but it appears to be solid. I do see a possibility of the surface being scratched from everyday wear and tear so keep that in mind. Oura literally tells you that will happen on their website. The ring is water resistant to 100 meters. Most people will not be disappointed by the look and feel but I can see some people with smaller hands being turned off by the extra bulk. For me, it was not an issue. Battery life – At first, I was concerned. In one day, it went from a 100% charge to only 60%. A far cry from the week that is listed in Oura’s specifications. After that it lost about 10 to 15% per day . I charged it back up and it easily lasted a week on a full charge. I think it uses more battery initially when it is learning your patterns or something similar because the battery life is definitely on par with the specifications. App and functions – Well since a ring has no screen, everything is controlled through the app. There is a tremendous amount of data in the app. Heart beat monitor: Finicky and inconsistent at first. Too often ii would read in the high 50’s for me when I had multiple other devices that were showing in the 70’s. It seemed to even out over time but every once in a while, it will show in the 50’s when I am definitely not that low. Be sure your ring is sized properly, and you are not moving for it to take any semblance of an accurate reading. Movement/activity count: This function is the least robust in the Oura Ring. I found it to be way off compared to both a simple fitness tracker and smart watch. For example, one day it has walking 1.1 miles and 2365 steps. My smartwatch had over 4 miles and 10,000+ steps. I knew that the smart watch was so much closer because of the level of activity I had that day. Sleep and recovery tracking – These functions are the gem of the whole Oura ecosystem. It is simply amazing. It will tell you your total sleep, sleep efficiency, restfulness, REM sleep, deep sleep and more. It was surprising dead on. I am a terrible sleeper; some nights are awful. The days that I felt the worse were reflected by equally bad sleep data; particularly deep sleep. The ring nailed it every time. The question is how helpful the data it. I know the reasons why my sleep is bad , the ring is just confirming my crappy sleep habits. Blood 02 sensor- During your sleep cycle, it will keep track of your average blood oxygen. The ring tended to be 1% lower than a very high end pulse oximeter I have ( it costs more than the Oura itself) but it is totally acceptable. I would not consider this function a medical grade device but it will give you a good reading on what your breathing is during your sleep cycle. Google Fit and Health Connect integration – The Oura offers the ability to sync your data with a number of third-party apps. The Google Fit and Health Connect by Android integration are available for Oura members with an active membership, using Android devices. Remember the words “active membership” – it comes into play later. Guided meditation and learning videos – I was hesitant to even mention this function because I am not a big fan of it. However, I know a lot of people are and I can see the benefits. In the section called “Explore,“ There are several guided meditations of varying life. They seem well thought out, but it is not for me. In this same section of the app there is learning videos that tell you about some of the metrics the Oura keep track of. So, this seems like a pretty good review so far, right? Well, as I alluded to earlier, this is where is quickly goes downhill – the subscription. About a week into using the device, the app starts to warn you that your subscription is about to expire. I did not think much of it at first, but the warnings kept on coming so I started to delve into it further. Nearly all the great functions you see above are lost if you do not have a subscription. Best Buy will not let me list the exact cost of the subscription. That is shame because that is where this really falls apart. Suffice it to say, it is expensive. If you add your total cost over a 3-year period is nearing the price of a top line gaming system. You can buy an excellent smart watch for a lot less and that does more. Even worse, I personally feel that Oura does not make this very clear intentionally. Even Bestbuy’s details do not clearly spell out all that you lose (I doubt that Bestbuy even knows the level of how much you lose, they are just publishing PIM data from the manufacturer.) If you compared this to the functions you get for the life of the Gen 2 ring , you would be shocked on how much you lose if you do not pay for a subscription to Oura. Here is what Oura states in the FAQ section of their website – “Without a membership, the Oura Ring Gen3 can be used only with limited functionality. You’ll be to see your three daily Oura scores, ring battery, basic profile information, app settings, Apple Health and Google Fit integrations, and the Explore Tab. Without membership, you cannot access the Oura API, but you can still download all of your personal data through Oura on the Web.” Now keep in mind that I had to dig into their website to find this. I would ask you to go to the Oura main website and look yourself, I bet that most you will not be able to find it unless you Google search “ can I use my Oura without a membership.” Regardless, this tells you are only going to get your three daily scores and some basic ring information – that is it. Are you kidding me? Ridiculous. This is a terrible business model and is borderline dishonest. Oura, if you are reading these reviews, you are ruining your reputation. You handicap your products functionality and make it unclear how much. This is what killed the Amazon Halo and it is going to hurt your business. With that said, I cannot recommend this product due to it basically being a shiny toy that serves no purpose with an exorbitant subscription. Perhaps I will hang it in my bird cage for my bird to peck at every once in a while, because this is worthless to me. For those still considering buying, I would encourage you to search on Youtube for in depth long term reviews and subscription – it will be eye opening. Oura – this is so disappointing, and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Ring is OK, bulky and expensive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This ring is just OK. It's a little overpriced for purchase and subscription for what you get. It may be a good buy for you if you don't wish to wear a smartwatch but still want the activity, sleep, and health tracking. The ring looks good (like a normal silver band). The company is good about getting you to size it first before ordering to avoid returns/etc. Looking online you may need to pay for the sizing kit and get a coupon for the amount to use later. My opinion is they should include it in the ring price and not make you pay twice. Maybe you can use the coupon for money off the ring price. Here is the process: order the kit and it comes with 6 or so sizes to test out for a day or so. They recommend using your index(pointer) finger as it reads the best and you probably don't already have a ring on it. Once you pick your size, you send it into them for the actual ring. They recommend you keep the kit for others to try if they want to order. The ring out of the box looked good (sliver band) but feels light and plastic-y (which it is but not what I was hoping for) The setup was easy - you need to install the Oura app and setup an account. The account is free for a month then there is a monthly fee after. This is a negative for me. I don't think the app features are worth it. There are better tracking apps for a smartwatch etc that are free. Then start using it. and checking your updates in the app; sleep activity workouts there are a lot of features and lots of articles to read up on healthy living (bonus but not worth the subscription) The benefits - I wanted the sleep tracking and don't wear a smartwatch to bed so that's good. very low battery use; I have gone 5+ days w/o a recharge (it says keep it above 30% to work properly) lots of metrics to track (more than you probably need or want to sort through) negatives - the subscription fee, you can turn the watch to airplane mode to save battery, but you need to put it on the charger to reconnect it (so don't do this if you don't have the charger handy) not much better than the smartwatch I already have and the app is free. it is bulkier than I expected and doesn't feel very comfortable (slimmer and a little heavier would have been preferred)

Great potential and a lots of good data
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After owning a smart watch for many years I was excited to take the next leap in health technology. There are not many good options out there that combine the many different aspects of health monitoring and data in the same way as the Oura. Look/feel: This is a bulky ring and on smaller hands, such as women's hands, the ring will stand out. I understand the amount of tech and battery needs of this device but it is not going to be unnoticed or sleek. It is supposed to be very resistant to scratches but it does scratch fairly easy. I have the silver Horizon which is fairly bland in look and overall not as appealing as some of the other colors. This is a disappoint for a product at this level. It also doesn't feel like the best quality but it is very light. Battery: Lasts about 3 days and it gives you a heads up to recharge before you go to sleep so you don't miss a night of data. It comes with a charger but you have to use the included charger. App/data: The app is fairly easy to use and the ring is easy to set up. There is a lot of data and over a few weeks I was able to learn a lot about my sleep data and it captures things like steps quite accurately. I really appreciate the extensive articles and videos Oura provides on learning more about the ring and the data it is collecting. This helps me process what I am looking at into more tangible information. Subscription: Unfortunately, this product requires a subscription after a free trial. I did not know this ahead of time and I believe they are not really transparent about it. This is a major downside of this product and easily knocked down one star. This is an expensive product and the need to charge a subscription in addition is a huge miss for me. Overall: Nice product, lots of data, but huge misses on design and required subscription.

Okay, but a subscription in perpetuity
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Battery life is the strongest point. Peddling the software, however is a low tactic. Many features are not accessible without a $6/mo subscription. Samsung health has no subscription and arguably offers a better suite of features to accompany its smartwatches.
