This game is ok. But its just a shooter execpt your heally restricted with every character you use so you HAVE to play with a team so that you have 6 character work together as 1 functional one. Unless you buy 6 copies for you and your friends dont even bother

It's MP only, and if you can be entertained with the limited amount of game modes offered, off balanced game play go for it. I rarely got placed with a good team and got bored after a week. It's really more hype than its worth.

The game requores teamwork. If not you will die and lose alot. Random people online don't seem to use mics or coordinate and you'll be upset plenty by some of the special abilities that come off as cheap ans overpowered.

A solid team-based shooter, but falls short.

This is a game with excellent graphics and superb characters with lots of uniqueness and personality. But it could have been so much more. Blizzard obviously put a lot into the lore and story, as they are known to do. My girlfriend and I watched the trailers with wonder and anticipation. Surely a game with such well-made and professionally animated trailers and mini-movies was going to be epic! In this case however, it seems like meaningless fluff. We were both terribly disappointed to learn that there is NO campaign or story mode. No journey through the stories of these incredibly detailed characters. It is just another online death-match game. For a death-match game, it is extremely well-done. The characters are all well-balanced and have moves and abilities that make them feel truly unique. For someone who is fanatical about online team-based shooters there is a lot of depth to master and strategy to hone. Each character has characters that they are strong against and those they are weak against. You can change characters after a death or by heading back to the spawn, so if you identify a strategy the opposing team is using, you can quickly swap to characters that counter it. There is no character development beyond cosmetic unlocking of skins and voice lines. This is both good and bad. It means all characters are on equal footing. Nobody who has spent sleepless weeks grinding while you were living a life will have an advantage other than practice and deeper understanding of the strategies and tactics. You won't die to another player because they spent a weekend unlocking the super FOOZBAM ability and you haven't. This is very good. However, it also means that there isn't much to look forward to, beyond learning all of the various nuances and tactics of each character. Overwatch is fun and exciting. It is pure adrenaline entertainment. However...and in this case it is a HOWEVER with letters thirty feet tall atop a skyscraper...unless you really enjoy this particular niche of gaming, I feel it will get old quite quickly. This is the case for other games of this type for me. For me I will struggle to get $60 worth of entertainment from this title. I doubt I'll be playing it for long...there's just not enough content to be mined here. The lore and development could have been the basis for an incredibly compelling campaign mode along with the PvP game, but in this case, without this it just falls short.

Fun, Refreshing Take on a First Person Shooter

When I first heard about Overwatch, I thought it would just be another overhyped FPS, like Star Wars Battlefront. However, as I watched more of the game when it was in beta, I started to understand what this hype was about. After playing the open beta, I didn't hesitate to preorder the Origins Edition. A few days later, my friends and I are hooked on it. What makes it so fun? Although it's a multiplayer only game (meaning no campaign, which will obviously turn some away), the gameplay is so fastpaced and easy to pick up that even shooter rookies can grab a controller and start playing within a couple matches. The diversity of the characters reminds me a lot of Super Smash Bros. because every one of the 21 heroes at launch are unique in themselves. While there are defined roles of Offense, Defense, Tank, and Support, you will never see two of the same hero. And to further encourage experimenting with different combinations, if you find yourself with a hero that doesn't fit the situation, you can swap it out mid-match, which makes for interesting strategies to play out as a match goes on. The maps are also binded to a specific game mode so you always know going in what game mode you're in and how to compose your team to suit it. And with its small lineup of 21 heroes, 4 modes, and 12 maps at launch, you're not overwhelmed with something giant to master. This is definitely one that I'm going to be enjoying with my friends for a while because of it's fun, addicting gameplay and unique heroes. Every match has a high intensity and teamwork is highly encouraged to succeed. Even if you don't have a mic, the heroes banter with each other to let people know when a turret goes down or when they need healing and so on. Plus, Blizzard has committed to sustaining it for the long run with free heroes, maps, and modes for years to come. If you're still skeptical about Overwatch, just try it. You will be pleasantly surprised once again by a Blizzard game. (Also, while there is a $40 base version of Overwatch, it is for PC only. The Origins Edition includes a few extra in-game items for other Blizzard games like World of Warcraft, Starcraft II, and Hearthstone. This is the only way to buy it for console.)

I don't understand the hype. The game is horrible. It's so unbalanced. It's a bad TF2 clone. People are all over it just because it's made by Blizzard. Never too big to fail!

While there are only a few game modes, this game is very fun and addictive. It has MOBA feel in that it is objective-based, team combat but also plays like a shooter. Lots of characters to choose from so you won't get bored! Most fun I've had with a multiplayer only game in a long time. Definitely more fun if you have online friends to play with.
