Doesn’t work how it should

I was so excited for this camera but quickly disappointed. The app doesn’t work the way it should and my camera is constantly saying “camera if offline” even though there’s not issues with my internet. The whole point of this is to be able to check on my sleeping baby and half the time I can’t even do so. I’m going back to my wyze cam until I can afford something else. Crazy expensive for a product that doesn’t even work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I like all of the owlet products I’ve tried so far but have one big issue with them, they still make you use 2.4 vs. 5 for your wifi and I just upgraded to a new wifi that does NOT make it easy to switch between the bands. Set up once you get your wifi figured out is pretty easy. The app walks you through everything and does the majority of the work for you. The camera is clear and the night vision is excellent. Sometimes it seems like the notifications for movement come in slowly but that might be due to the wifi issue as well. I will say the new cam 2 is better than the original cam. It connects with my sock nicely though and all of the O2 and heart rate features are working as they should. I like the new predictive sleep on the app, it’s not as clunky as the old sleep suggestions they offered when the dream sock came out. There are a lot of nice improvements in this camera however I can’t give it 5 stars until they make it so you aren’t restricted with the wifi bands anymore. I would recommend this to anyone with a baby, we all got covid after two years of avoiding it and this camera and the sock combined are the only thing that gave me peace of mind at night and let me try to get some rest too. We haven’t had any bad alerts or anything since using the new cam 2 so I can’t speak to that but everything else is running so smoothly that I think those would work just fine. I do really like this and will love it when they aren’t so restrictive with the wifi. All around the owlet products are great

The babycam… had troubles setting up, scanning QR code, the cam etc. Interestingly, delayed live stream, app just notifies never really recorded anything for me. If you miss the notification on your phone, you are out of luck. Best part was when signed out of app and account, still received notifications LOL.

Installation for our set p was pretty smooth, it's also nice that there was a wire cover strip included so that we could run it up the wall without having a loose wire hanging either to be grabbed or to just hang there and look bad.
We had the app set up in a few minutes and it saves us a lot of trips down the hallway to check in. If I am working in the garage or office and want to see how things are going, I just need to pick up my phone and open the app. Likewise, audio and motion alerts let us know when nap time is over or feeding time has arrived.
The night vision option is also very handy if we wake up and want to check in without bumping our way down the hall or waking anyone up with squeaky doors. etc. It's also neat to have video clips available and the ability to pan around and zoom in as well.
The room has a window that faces south, so being able to get notes on temperature was a bonus - the humidity feature will also be nice this winter as it gets dry here and a humidifier will be needed.
This was an excellent item to have not just for the basic camera feature, but also for the bonus features we didn't know we wanted but that make it even more helpful.

Works great and easy to set up! No stress and great instructions. Feel safer with it! The mobile app is easy to use! I’ve used several cameras in the past but none this easy to set up and mount to the wall. The quality of the camera is better than the others I’ve used and I feel secure knowing my baby is safe and I can watch him from the camera throughout the day as he naps. I would recommend this to a friend who is looking for the added security of knowing their child is safe. It works great in the dark as well. You can see clear images of the child. It doesn’t omit a light at night which is a plus because my son would be distracted by it and possibly not sleep well. Omelet has great products and this is probably one of the best ones I’ve owned! Word of advice for those installing it on the wall, make sure you use a stud finder. It makes the process so much easier and the camera is the perfect weight. It wont move or tilt over time. Overall definitely a buy and I highly recommend it for you.

The perfect way to keep an eye on your little one, without actually being in the room. You install the camera (mounting hardware included if you want to use it), and it streams audio and video of your baby to an app you install on your phone or tablet. I'm not sure if it was my phone being a couple of years old or not, but it did seem to have a notable hit on the battery life when the app was running. For the purpose of testing I made sure to keep the power cord plugged in to the phone once I noticed the battery drain. Picture was nice and clear, even with minimal night-light lighting. It was nice to know I could be "in the same room" as my grand daughter regardless of what room of the house I was in. Not sure if it was a fault of the app or not but we noticed some issues with the app force-closing when more than one person tried to view at the same time. It very-well may be a limitation of the application though, so I can't complain. Overall I give the device 4 out of 5 stars - only because I couldn't give it 4.5 or 4.75 stars :-)

We like the Owlet Cam 2, but it could do with a couple of features.
The box comes neatly packaged and has all you need to mount the monitor to the wall, save for some tools to do it. The box included a lot of cable guards, too, but we didn't use these. The magnetic base is powerful, holding the monitor good and snug. The monitor has a bit of trouble positioning itself with the resistance caused by the cable.
The video quality comes out great as long as it has a good connection. Even night vision looks clear. We enjoy the wide angle lens compared to the standard lens that we are used to. One thing I like about the app is that you can set the noise to come through while it's in the background, leaving you to lock your phone or use other apps while it acts like a monitor. It took us a while to learn of this feature but it's very useful through the night. The app will alert you to noise or cries that it picks up, but it doesn't make much sense to use this type of notification if you set your app to play sound in the background because these noises can sometimes be a false alarm.
Neither the box nor any instructions informs you to download a certain app. I downloaded the Owlet Nest app which has instructions for adding the Owlet Cam 2, but it never wanted to connect. It took well over an hour for me to learn that this wasn't going to work, and so I reached out to tech support. I learned through them very quickly that only the Owlet Dream app works. After downloading this, we had no issues. This was a bit of an oversight on their end. Why there are no instructions to download a specific app, and why the wrong app gives you the ability to set up the Cam 2, I have no idea.
Please be advised that the Cam 2 does not work with a 5GHz network! It must be 2.4 GHz, so if you don't have this, you'll need to set up a dual-band network that way in order to use the monitor. This is part of the reason why my setup took forever; I wasn't sure if I was having issues due to the type of network I had, so it took me some digging into all of my network settings to ensure that this was not the issue.
We like the Owlet Cam 2, but the instructions left us very frustrated with what should have been a quick and easy setup. We're also very wary of the fact that you cannot physically turn off the monitor or otherwise blind or mute it without unplugging it. It would have been nice for there to at least be a button or switch on the camera itself in order to do this. This is a huge missing feature in my opinion. This isue along with some other issues I've stated in my review have caused me to rate it a little lower than it could have been.

The Owlet Cam 2 is a small & compact baby monitor that allows me to see my grand-baby, who is spending time here with Grandpa and me. I can see her from wherever I am because my monitor is my iPhone! I can see and hear my sweet grand-baby, and check in on her any time I want to. I can speak to her from my phone and I can even check the temperature and humidity in her room. All of this from anywhere I am - the living room or even the grocery store! And as a bonus, I can check in on the Nanny and also Grandpa's skills with her!
When the camera senses movement in her nursery, a cry or any sound, I have it set to automatically record a video clip that is stored for 7 days in the app on my phone. I did have an issue with this function at first, but after assistance from the helpful customer service folks at Owlet, I eventually reset the camera and did the pairing and setup all over again. Since then, it has been working like a dream. I have set the app to get notifications of movement and sounds. I did set the sensitivity to high and because of that, I get a bunch of notifications, but I would rather have too many than miss that 1 extremely important one. Clicking on the notification opens the app and takes me to the stream. There is about a 3 second delay, which I'm not loving. The camera can record up to 1080p and the video stream is very clear. The Owlet Cam2 does have night vision so it can stream or record even when it's dark. The night vision is black and white, so it's a little less clear, but I can still see her.
I haven't cared for an infant for a great number of years, so this gives me peace of mind. The app login can be shared, so I have given access to Grandpa and my son. We are all able to look in on her whenever we want to! Having this Owlet Cam 2 is such a blessing!

Mostly good, it is a camera, so I will just list my complaints: 1) no 5 GHz connection. For a stupid expensive camera, it should work on both. Fine at my house, but just tried travelling with it, they had Spectrum Router with only 5GHz, and surprise! You’re screwed. 2) Hates Apple. Wont pair with my Iphone (15 pro) to scsn qr code. Have to make my wife do it on her Samsung. IPad app is garbage, QR code is distorted, so you csnt use that to pair it, and the app is not optimized for Ipad so it looks crappy. 3) connectivity issues. there was actually a time where the video froze, so instead of disconnecting and stopping the feed, there was just a picture of my sleeping child. So i just think im watching my child sleep, when he was actually awake and crying for i dont know how long Not nice.

The Owlet Cam 2 has given us much needed peace of mind with our daughter. Knowing that we can see her anytime from our phones and not be reliant on yet another screen to check in on her is also extremely convenient. I sleep easy knowing that even if we don't here her crying all the way across the house that we will get notifications on our phones which will definitely wake us up. The best part is I can go back and review the video to see what she was doing before she started crying! It may sound like overkill but it really helps, to let me know I didn't miss anything through the night. We also have the Owlet Sock (which is amazing), and the Owlet Cam 2 syncs right up with the sock with zero issues! We have loved the sock for some time now and adding this camera really brings the whole system together so nicely. The video quality on the Baby Monitor's camera was something I was concerned with, since the room is so dark. It looks fantastic! I am shocked it works so well, and you can even zoom in on those cute moments! Overall I would not hesitate to pick this up again! We love it!

So far, this is the best baby monitor we have bought. We have three children, and this camera has brought us some peace of mind. I especially like that I can use the app on my phone from anywhere. The feature that allows me to talk to my child through the camera is probably my favorite feature so far and it helps me to soothe them when they are fussing at night even if I am not the one who is home with them at the time. It helps me to stay connected and feel secure when leaving them with a baby sitter as well. I highly recommend this monitor, the video quality is amazing and has excellent night vision as well.

The Owlet Cam 2 comes in very nice packaging and includes a nice, long cord - complete with the hardware that you need to mount it to the wall. You can mount it or leave it on a flat surface. It's magnetic base provides the ability to move it around and gain varying angles; however it is not a panoramic camera and you have to physically move it to adjust it vs. being able to do so in the app.
The setup for the Owlet Cam 2 was extremely irritating and finicky. It took 10+ times of trying and retrying, pairing and repairing, factory resets, watching You-Tube videos, reading their help tutorials, etc. - ultimately which all took me nearly an hour . Once it was finally paired, the feed didn't work, I couldn't add my child successfully, and updates couldn't be installed. The entire process was very frustrating and in itself made me disinterested in the product.
The product requires an app and WiFi, so it's really only as good as your WiFi is. While the app functionality is simple, I find that having to have an app with a password is cumbersome since it's not easily transferable to a nanny, babysitter, or grandparent. I feel like we're the only ones who will realistically be able to use it to view baby.
The video and audio quality are good. I also liked that it tells me my room is comfortable based on temperature and humidity. With that said, I don't think the video or audio quality is any better than that of my $30 Wyze camera (which, I might add, is also panoramic and comes with an app).
This product would have a lot more insights if I had other Owlet products like the sock; however, I've read mixed reviews on the sock and have heard it can cause more anxiety than ease. I likely will not purchase another product to sync with this one.
All in all, this is a nice camera, but the setup and limited use with WiFi/app would lead me to encourage you to save your money and instead purchase one with a screen/interface and no WiFi requirement.
I was considering a three-star rating until I realized at one point the camera was disconnected from the app and I could not get it to reboot or even turn back on. That ruined the whole thing for me since reliability for such an item is key.

There are some things from this camera that I like and some things that I don’t like. The camera looks to be well built even if it is made from mostly plastic. Its small and came with a cable management system to prevent the baby from asphyxiation from a loose cable. The camera setup was easy with some caveats. To run the setup, make sure that your cellphone is connected to the 2 GHz band of your wireless router and not the 5GHz band. If you are connected to the 5 GHz band the setup will not complete and you will get an error message. Once setup is complete you can return to the 5GHz band. During the setup the camera couldn’t read the scan code if I had the phone in portrait mode (vertically) it took me a few minutes to figure out why it was not working the only way it worked for me was when I put the phone in landscape mode (horizontally) to read the scan code. The illustration the app shows during setup shows the phone in portrait mode, but it didn’t work for me. Once you hear the sound from camera when reading the code, you hit next, and it would finish the setup. At the end, the application asked to check for updates. I hit yes, but the update failed because for some reason the camera got disconnected so I hit skip for now. After that the setup was done. I tried again to update the camera thru the app but couldn’t find anywhere that option.
The video streaming feature worked fine you can see the camera in your phone, you can hear in your phone any sound from the room and you can communicate via a microphone feature from your phone. However, the notification portion of the camera ex. cry notification, sound notification and motion notification they are mostly useless. From my experience they are completely unreliable even at the most sensitive settings. The camera was supposed to record video when a sound was detected but it never records a video. The cry detection only works one time and the baby like all babies cried from time to time. This is something that Owlet needs to work on. Looks to me that is a software issue more than a hardware issue. This camera is not cheap for the price of this camera I was hopping all the features to work out of the box without any headache. I give this camera 3 stars because the streaming of video works very well however the rest of the features did not work well or not work at all. If Owlet fix these items in the future via software, I will give it a better rating.

No joke, best product in the Owlet lineup. The video is clear. zoom works well. The motion detection on this camera is excellent. works well in low light. It required a little extra care with placement to make sure the night vision didn't get drowned out by the IR lights. The temperature readings were a welcome bonus for us as the crib is in a part of the house that we have had HVAC issues in the past and provides a small piece of mind. Recordings work well. I haven't quite figured out the dream app after a week, but the features when paired with another Owlet device (dream sock) look to be awesome. The range on this camera is nice. We tested at different locations throughout our home and the 2,200 square feet of space didn't notice any range limitations. I wish that this camera was homkit compatible, otherwise it is a solid camera with excellent support on iOS. The other wish is that it supported 5Ghz wifi networks. At this time it only supports 2.4 Ghz and if you have capacity issues on 2.4 and not 5 it could have a few more hiccups
