Panamax surge protectors may be top quality but the bright blue display was too distracting so I returned it.

I did a ton of research before buying into improvements the 5100 would make. From what I found Panamax improved the specs since this model hit the market. It's basically the 5400 now with less inputs and visual monitoring. Nobody can tell you how much or little this product will improve your A/V equipment because they can't account for how clean the electricity in your home is. Many factors could cause issues. What I found was after hooking this up to my Samsung HU8550, Denon receiver and TiVo was it improved a few things. My audio was the biggest jump. A good amount of surround sound that got muffled or barely came through are now much cleaner and smoother sounding. Clearly in my case the receiver wasn't getting the proper juice that it needed to reach its full potential. I made sure to watch a movie I knew the audio inside and out so to say I was surprised once those effects started up would be an understatement. From the video end I'd have to say slightly improved. There is less digital noise on sporting events. Certain channels I knew if the game was on I needed to turn on the digital noise/MPEG smoothers in the tv options. Since installing the 5100 that hasn't been the case. I can't comment on the actual surge protection to this point but from what I've read this unit will take a beating and Panamax will give a replacement if it couldn't handle the surge. I lost a Pioneer Kuro plasma due to an electrical surge that went on all day while I was working. My cheapo surge surpresor was still active when I got home and my tv was fried, power supply and main board. An investment like this is like adding an extended warranty with the added benefit of carrying over as you upgrade your A/V equipment in the future.

Panamax Surge Protector was specified by my tech representative but was not needed since I had a protector installed already. Very expensive unit

Was told By geek squad not having this was why my def teck 9080s and 9060’s were popping. Yea that wasnt the issue. So now have another expensive electronic device to look at

I have purchsed 2 other panamex power conditioner/surge suppressors before and have been very satisfied with them- the first one I bought back in 2007 still is working well. I notice no flickering of the TV during lightning storms and having the equiment protected with this device gives me a peace of mind. I wanted to upgrade to a newer model to help support a projector, receiver, amplifier, 2 subs and 2 blu ray players as well as a video processor. The MR-5100 is one of the latest out by Panamex and has stage 4 filtration for cleaner power. In addtion, this does help with a slight improvement in picture and sound.

I think this is a great product, I noticed a huge improvement in sound quality for sure, the surround doesn’t seem muffled like it did before. I didn’t know how much I was missing until I connected all my equipment to this thing. You can’t go wrong with this unit. The slight hissing that you’d hear when your receiver is cranked up during silent scenes in a movie is gone! I The only thing that bothers me like really bothers me, is the fact of the screen being so bright. That’s why I’m giving it a 4 star. Panamax should have knew better then that! I mean come on now. The default setting for brightness should be the one next to the lowest, and it should only get dimmer from their. Also, you should have a option of the screen and lights having a auto off after say 15-20 minuets of no current draw. Or leaving it on permanently. Those two things would make it perfect, absolutely perfect. Overall I think it’s a good product for sure. The equipment I have is LG 65 SJ9500 - shud 4k tv Yamaha rx-a1070- receiver Oppo UDP-203- bluray Panamax MR5100 (of course) Klipsch RF-15 x2 Klipsch RC-52 x1 Klipsch RS-25x2 Klipsch RW-10 x1 Sure it’s not their newest line, but I can tell you one thing it sounds just as good and the remodeled versions! Not to mention it is all ceramatallic drivers including the sub. If you have a home theater you care about buy this Panamax.

On my 65 inch Samsung the picture pops. Much clearer and sharp. Sound quality improved. Easy to set-up. The best thing I have done for my home theater. I did not know that a surge protector could make such a difference with picture and sound quality.

I've lost a AVR, DTV HD-DVR, 2 routers and a switch in total on separate occasions last year due to power / lightning surges. I've since added a MR5100 (home theater - HDTV, AVR, Bluray, DTV Genie, Laptop & switch), M4LT-EXs (router, NAS, PC & switch) and MD2-Cs (cable modem, switch, HDTV & DTV receiver) to create a Panamax protective ring around my wired (CAT6) network and connected equipment. I've NOT had any issue since I've integrated the Panamax equipment. I researched and called Panamax a handful of times. They answered most of my questions immediately on the phone and consulted their engineers on one occasion then called me back. I've found cheaper vendors online, but Best Buy (Magnolia - AUTHORIZED DEALER) was able to match the reasonable prices from *that river in South America*. The key is to purchase from an authorized dealer and create a overall protective ring so you will NOT void the connected equipment warranty from Panamax. In total, I've spent as much as I would've on an extended warranty for my TV alone. However, I feel that all of my connected equipment are better protected this way.

This review is from my personal experience and will be different from most reviews here as it may be helpful to others like me other than a pointless review. First off the unit looks good visually, does that mean it does what it claims, I dont know, I've never used the features. Unit does not have a stand by mode so its always on. But you can turn off the voltage meter or dim them down as well as 2 other banks. The filter system seems to work but probably not a significant change. If you have audio equipment over a few thousand dollars and would like to try it, it's probably worth a try for what it sells for. Will it help protect your gear, I hope it does. Just be sure to read the restrictions from Panamax. I can not comment that it works great like others as its features is not to turn things on, yet off. And I'm sure no one is buying this so it looks nice with their other units. In conclusion if you want something that you can hope it protects your thousand dollars equipment, give it a try . Especially if its on sale and best buy has the best prices and service, availability. Otherwise, I think you can get away with their cheaper models, same coverage. Would I recommend this to a friend, maybe and if I ever experience a situation. Only bought it because it was on sale plus I rather take a few hundred dollars chance over $10k of equipment. Great product. This is the second one purchased, to protect and enhance my home theater equipment.

We bought with LG OLED TV for TV, TDS cable box, Stereo and speakers. I think power protection is a good buy and this works. Design is confusing, only 4 power plug ins are "on" all the time. That is 1st bank. Design is so that you turn on your system and there is a delay for banks 2 (2 plugs) and 3 (4 plugs), I think. Well TDS power internet and cable DVR so we want that on all the time. TV has great sound so we want to be able to turn on without stereo. So only thing we want delayed on is subwoofer which we plugged into bank 3. We plugged TV, receiver, playstation into bank 1 along with old power strip. And plugged TDS cable box, wifi etc. into power strip. For the price it should work better for our needs. And is there any reason to filter internet through this?? Who knows. Inadequate manual that is 2 pages of safety - don't pour water on this surge protector! don't suffocate child with plastic bag! OK. And same non information online. Why spend money to design and market this thing and not educate buyers or listen to feedback of how real people use it? A similar simpler design would be better for us.

This model takes up a lot of space in your component stack, but at least it has an option to turn off the front power light, unlike the slimmer model.

Impulse purchase. Added this product due to the promotional financing. After getting it home the unit seemed kind of light for some sort of big bad power conditioner. After seeing the insides, the unit is 80% empty space and has lower gauge wiring. I exchanged the item for the APC H15 from Bestbuy.com that actually does voltage regulation and it is only $269!

Panamax makes excellent surge protectors that protect, and enhance, the quality of picture, sound, and alert of fluctuations in voltage.

I bought the MR5100 with its Level 4 filtration expecting it to improve the picture quality on my OLED LG TV. It made no difference in reducing the considerable noise such as grainy background scenes on my 4k discs. Cable did seem a little better with the MR5100 compared to power straight out of the wall, but it was far from the "wow" improvement factor. I have considered trying the 5300, but I decided against it because its filtration abilities are basically the same as the 5100 and doubt it would provide any improvement to my picture. I'll keep the MR5100 for its protective abilities, especially considering the good price match I received for this product at Best Buy, where staff and service is second to none. On the basis of picture improvement, I would not recommend this product. I only recommend it for protecting your devices.
