It seems like a solid product. I tried for about 2 days but I kept getting a humming sound out of the Panamax. I’d recommend the one without the volt regulator just for the annoying sound it makes.

I purchased this to protect my HT equipment. Also, to improve overall picture quality and sound. This product certainly did the trick. Great investment and protection. Im also thinking of exchanging this for the model below 5300 cause the only difference is the voltage regulator feature which in my area i wouldn't need it. The only time you would think of getting the 5400 is if your area has really inconsistent or huge fluctuations in power running through your home. Your voltage in your home should be consistent at around 120 Volts. Also, save some money. So, I would consult with a electrician or PG&E to see if you have that issue. Other than that AWESOME unit. I'm thinking of buying another one. LoL!

The m5400pm is essential for anybody trying to get the absolute best out of their home theater system. Power conditioning with HIGH current outlets transformed my theater from a better than good system into a true audiophile contender. My previous power conditioner was a stage 2 design by monster. It did a decent job but nothing like the panamax. The sound and the picture are greatly improved as advertised. I give a lot of credit to the High Current outlets. I have read that this feature when implemented correctly vastly improves the performance of power hungry amps. My system has two power hungry amps. My Marantz receiver (130W; two Channels driven) and 12" Polk Sub (150W continuous / 300W peak) definitely responded with more detail and presentation. Basically instead of hearing the speakers and the Sub I heard one well balanced blend of sound. More slam; less rumble. The whole sound stage revealed as if my seat got moved up from the far side to the "Sweet spot." More resolution in audio; better color and motion in the video. Plus I know my voltage is clean and stable. After the opening scene of Mad Max Fury Road I realized I had made probably the best investment I could have made for my home entertainment. I have heard some people say the operation is noisy but I can't hear a thing from my unit.

I recently purchased this Panamax power center to protect my home theater system. I have a Pioneer Elite plasma tv and a Pioneer Elite receiver with some B&W speakers, a PS3, XBOX360 and a DVR. As you can imagine, I've spent a lot of money on a home theater system and I wanted to make sure that it is fully protected. This power center was the one i had my eye on. I run every component through the power center. It has 5 isolated banks to eliminate noise and contamination to other outlets. One of the most important reasons I chose this power center is the AVM (automatic voltage monitoring). This feature is essential to me personally because where I live I do experience a lot of power outages and surges, so making sure that I have a surge protector that can detect unsafe voltages is critical. The final reason I chose this power center is for the filtration. The M5400 features one of Panamax's highest level of power cleaning and filtering, level 4+, which improves picture quality and sound, and I was pleasantly surprised when i saw the difference myself! I buy high end audio/video equipment and usually buy the protection plans. For instance, i purchased the protection plan for my TV, receiver, and speakers to make sure everything lasts, orh at least guarantee a brand new item in the event something can't be fixed. So I bought a high end power center for my equipment. But i do believe that buying a high end power center is one of the best things you can do to ensure long lasting equipment even if you didn't spend a massive amount of money on your components.

I have never owned a power conditioner before, but after doing a lot of research and asking some friends who are electronics engineers, I decided that a power conditioner was some of the cheapest insurance I could get. I borrowed a special meter to measure the power on my old system, and the transients were crazy. In plain words, the power was dirty and the voltage varied much more than I ever thought it did. Perhaps that is why my old TV was having problems after 19 years. The same meter was used to measure the output of my new power conditioner, and it is quite a difference. The power sine wave is much smoother, and is remarkably constant. I know many people won't have access to this type of measurement equipment, nor do they have the technical knowledge to know about this. Bottom line is that I now understand how important this is to extend the life of sensitive electronics. I bought another one for my computer system. This is the reason I bought the 5400.

I have two of these along with two Panamax MR5100s and I must say that these are the best Best Buy has to offer from Panamax. 11 total outlets. 4 always-on linear filtered outlets across two banks, 4 switched linear filtered outlets across two banks and 2 High Current Switch Deleyad outlets - All with Voltage Regulation. 12 v trigger in to turn on switched banks in sequence and a 12 v trigger out to connect to another component, Level 4 Noise Filtration in your switched and Always-On Outlets. 3 sets of coaxial in and out, 2 sets of RJ 45 Ethernet/Lan and a set of RJ 11 Telephone in/out for total protection of all connected devices. Boasts an impressive 2125 Joule Surge Protection rating.

Gauges voltages accurately. There is a noticable difference in the audio. Less interference, less static. Virtually elimates all nosie in the video. The picture especially in formats of 1080p has a crystal, lifelike image. Best product on the market for the money.

The only added feature to the M5400-PM that M5300-PM doesn’t have is voltage regulation. I would hardly call the regulator in this unit a voltage regulator. It is merely a transformer with four taps on it. When the sensor detects the voltage below 114 volts, it will switch over to one of the two higher voltages. Since it is a scalar voltage ratio, the output voltage will be between 115V – 124V. The same is true if your wall voltage goes 125V – 136V, it will switch to the tap which will lower by a ratio. This is the CHEAPEST voltage regulator in terms of design and cost. Given that, it is the most energy efficient which doesn’t mean a lot since it consumes 0.3 Amps with no load (that’s 36 Watts). I looked at the FFT of the power going into the M5400-PM and coming out the unit and there is no visible difference. The measured THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) using a RSA3408B (Spectrum Analyzer) did go from 2.1% to 1.4%, but that is the same filter in the M5300-PM. I also looked at the voltage on an oscilloscope and compared the signal before it enters the unit and on the output. Comparing the two reveals all the fluctuations on the line before and after remain the same. Meaning the unit will not condition your power to give your expensive equipment pretty clean sinusoidal voltages. The so called voltage regulator in the M5400-PM in my opinion isn’t worth the inflated price tag. Get your monies worth and go with the M5300-PM if you need that many outlets. And yes I have all the overpriced name brand home theater equipment that I desire to protect with what should be overly designed power management system.

I've owned the Panamax 5100 for three years and have never had a problem with it. It runs quietly and has protected my equipment through numerous storms. I recently significantly upgraded my stereo equipment (MacIntosh 7900 amp, B&W 803 Diamond speakers, MartinLogan Balance Force 212). Since I had nicer equipment I thought I would upgrade the surge protector, so I chose the Panamax 5400. Big mistake. My 5100 was dead silent and reliable. The 5400 buzzed loud enough for me to hear it from twelve feet away. That's with the second bank of devices switched off. When I switched them on, the buzzing doubled. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm going for sonic purity and absolute silence between tracks. I don't need a constant buzz muddling the crisp vocals. This device is going back as soon as I can swing by BestBuy. Sad, because I liked the idea that the surge protector was managing the power flow.

This is easily a key add on for any serious home theater. I like that the front LED's can dim so it's not too distracting when the lights are off. Also, it has 5 separate filters so that all of the things I have plugged in do not give off a lot of noise to the other components. That noise most people experience is like a snowy/grainy picture or popping sounds out of the speakers. Also, 2 outlets are dedicated for high current which is designed for an amp + sub but doesn't limit the capabilities of it. Basically your 1500 watt sub can deliver 1500 watts :) highly recommended

Panamax makes excellent surges protctors. Many models, like the MAX1500, have plenty of outlets. The digital readout of voltage displays incoming voltage fluctuations.

Bought it because of the new lcd tv 52", and having home theater system plus the deskopt hooked up to one place. In total I have hooked to the power conditioner the tv, receiver, media player, dvd player, cable set top box, pc, phone, and another small power surge protector . The nice feature is the multiple bank and its light indicator. It is a good investment if you have a big and profesional audio/video and media center. Also it is not noisy which is good.

At $700, their M5400-PM is the system that more of us can afford to drive. The M5400 doesn't include some of the M7500's higher end features, like the very cool, retro analog needled meters, but it does supply all of the power management basics required by a medium sized home theater.To begin, I'm a sucker for those glowing blue lights on the front, especially the silver encircled voltmeter and ammeter. Beyond giving voltage in and out readings, they make great night lights. But if they are too bright for your room, you can cycle through four levels with the button on the left.

This is protecting a C8 77" OLED, Marantz AV8805, Anthem MCA525, Xbox one X, and Tekton Double Impact speakers. Soon to add a SVS sub and proper 4k player. People mentioned hum, I've hooked all this up with and without the Panamax when I first got it because I noticed a hum as well. The hum was less with the Panamax and I believe it's either a grounding issue or a dirt power issue as I have this tied to CB box with everything else in the house. Looks great, no problems yet, overall helps with hum.

Looks great! Thought my new Panasonic 65" 4k tv deserved the best protection available.Yes it is expensive, but top notch equipment deserves noise free power to maximize its potential, and the ultimate protection wrapped into this neat package.

I was sold on this because it warrantied damages to my electronics. Well, after lightning hit my house and fried 4 things connected through it, the warranty protection was not there. After 3 months and multiple phone calls, they finally responded by declining my claim because they didn’t like my diagram. They didn’t bother to ask questions just denied. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

A must for those who own expensive home theater equipment.

Purchased from BestBuy in store and the service there is always fantastic! However, I live an hour away from BestBuy and when I brought the unit home, made room for it and plugged it in, NOTHING. Called BestBuy and they tried to help but its defective. So much for quality control at Panamax. Furman is their sister company as well I believe so I haven't decided if I will trade this one for the last one they have or find another product. BestBuy is 5 star though!!

I purchased a Panamax MR5100 similar to this model in December 2020. As of April 2021, the unit has failed completely. The unit powers up, but not power is found in any of the multiple outlets, including the 'always on' outlets, which are always off. I am attempting to obtain a resolution from the manufacturer, as Best Buy will not stand behind this expensive high-end product.
