    Solid Buy...

First off this is a 500 dollar LED TV in a 50" by a name brand manufacturer. Second it is meant to be "entry level". Third, see comment one and two. Expecting to get great sound? Look elsewhere...as in a home theater receiver. Sound is weak but okay for a bedroom. Running this in a living room? Is it the main source of your home theater? Pony up and get real sound. Otherwise you are going to be disappointed with just about anything you buy regardless of price. Today's flat panels are made for the viewing experience, not the sound. Entry level? Forget about it. Regarding the picture I'm more than satisfied for my expectations. A long time ago (in tv years) I had a 40" Samsung LCD I was not happy with and bought a plasma to set right next to it in my home to really compare. LCD was total garbage compared to the entry level plasma it sat beside. Day and night. Apples to oranges. LCD was promptly sold to someone less discerning... Happy to report they've come a long way since then. You're not going to get the black levels of a plasma but you're not going to be disappointed either. No more weird pattern shifting on things as simple as panning. Movies like "DRED" are not going to be pretty. Granted I've only had the TV for a week but I've sampled a bunch of movies trying to get it dialed in. One group of settings is not going to cover every movie like a plasma. Maybe a higher end LED will come closer but that's not what this TV is... I'm very satisfied with it and would recommend it...and just as an informational bit, nothing is going to get a five star rating from me unless it's free and absolutely phenomenal so four is pretty danged good coming from me (o:

Got this TV at black Friday Sale and it was well worth the effort standing in the queue, For $200 i must say it has decent picture quality, As its 60HZ you cant expect this TV to do wonders, But for a normal use its great. I plugged in Roku with it and my $200 TV is smart TV now, Play Netflix, Hulu Plus, Stream ESPN just love my purchase. So far so good. Only thing thats lacking is the number of HDMI and AV slots(Way too less in this era of smart devices, Gaming Consoles etc..

I was able to score one of these tvs on Black Friday. For the price, I am satisfied. There are a couple HDMI/USB ports. If you're using this with Google Chromecast you'll be okay. I was hoping to hook it up to my laptop via VGA and was disappointed there was not in input. However, the TV is cheap (in price). You can't expect much. Picture quality is decent. Overall I'm happy given the size/picture quality/price.

    Black Friday Best Deal!!

This tv was worth falling in line for this past black friday. The price was great for the size. Also a big fan of the low profile and slim half-inch bezel. Picture quality is an A- because of the slight graining and its only 60Hz. Power consumption is low since the back light is LED (used it for the whole day and it was cool to the touch). I give 4 stars because the audio is sub par. I connected the unit to a wireless sound bar with sub and sounded better. Overall great tv!

Here's What You Need To Know

I bought this as an "open box" item, though I would have paid full price. I am not technically savvy, so this review is coming from a techno-idiot. I'm happy with this purchase. I'm not looking for the latest state-of-the-art everything, but this t.v. appears to have everything I need, the picture is nice (probably better if I could figure out how to connect the HDMI cables - an extra challenge as I don't have cable), the sound quality is fine (I have a subwoofer connected to my DVD player for that surround sound - not really necessary to have it on all of the time when I'm watching regular tv shows) and the remote is pretty simple. I've had this t.v. for about a month now and have no complaints about it. So then why the four star rating, as opposed to five? Well, I'm not completely blown away with the t.v. There isn't anything about it that makes me say, "Wow! Now THIS is awesome!" Don't get me wrong - that is not a negative. While there isn't a particular "wow" factor about it, I am happy and satisfied with my purchase; plus Panasonic is one of the highly rated brands, so this should serve my purposes for a long while.

This Panasonic Viera 50" led is a great tv. It has a clean picture and amazing clarity for a tv in this price range. It is also really thin and light and very easy to wall mount.

Picked this TV up on Black Friday as one of the door busters. Its a GREAT TV for the black Friday price of $200, but over its just "good". @ HDMI ports is really lacking BUT the TV is beautiful with such slim bezels around the screen. This was defiantly a good buy

Would be great except for one flaw.

This television could be an absolute steal for the price, if it weren't for one thing: The color reproduction. Try and try you might but this TV at any color, brightness, contrast, or any other setting you could possibly tweak, turns anything green or yellow into the same shade of pine-tree green. The only way to circumvent this issue (which I guess would involve turning off the color processing this TV is very determined to do) is to set the input resolution of your device to 1366x768. That is the highest resolution setting you can use that doesn't trigger what I'm going to refer to as "pine tree mode". I have seen this on several units of the same model. Of course I can't test the resolution thing in a store but I assume other units would respond the same way and the green color reproduction flaw is readily apparent once you notice it. It seems very sad to have to use a lower resolution to get around a design flaw like this. It is a very interesting issue, because you can put up any color calibration image you wish, and you will easily be able to get a basic balance of red, green, blue, and the various shades of gray. You'll think you've got it fairly decent, you'll switch back to whatever source image or video you first noticed the green problem on, and boom, everything is the same shade of green again. Grass that is fairly yellow when viewed on at the 1366x768 resolution turns absolutely surreal green at 720P, 1080i or 1080p, and most other resolutions. You could describe it as the television thinking green and yellow are one and the same at standard HDTV resolutions. Again, to be clear, this issue doesn't occur at the 1366x768 resolution, so I am certain it is an image processing issue with the television. Same source video put into the TV from three different devices at 1080P gets the green overdose treatment. Same video at 1366x768 from two of the devices looks normal, and the same source video looks normal on any laptop, tablet, or other monitor I view it on. It IS the television doing this. Thankfully my computer and my video game system both offer resolution options, but a streaming device I have doesn't, which renders it almost unusable to me with this television. As a consumer, you should be aware of the issue with this model. You shouldn't expect state of the art picture quality on a 50" LED this cheaply priced. You SHOULD however not expect every outdoor scene in a TV show, movie, or video game to have the exact same color green. It's ridiculous, this is clearly a software issue that needs to be addressed with a firmware update. If they ever fix it, this TV will be unbeatable for the price. Oh, and it has the standard areas of the screen that are dimmer, but that is a typical LED TV issue. Even the ones twice this price have the same issue, especially in corners. The top right corner of the screen gets warm because of whatever circuit board is back there, and the heat seems to have an effect on the panel in that area (you'll notice a bright spot about an inch from the top right corner develop after the display has been on for about half an hour).

Bought this tv on 8/22, so far so good. Tv has good color and picture quality. Tv used for sports viewing, gaming on Xbox one, blu Ray movies. Everything viewed so far looks great. Can't beat the price at $449 for a 50 inch led.

I got this Panasonic 50" TV during the Thanksgiving sale. This is really a very good TV for this price. I am enjoying it daily with the Chromecast I bought with it. Hooks up very easily through the HDMI output. The TV picture clarity is simply superb. HD movies look awesome.
