This is really good so far for shaving my legs. Been tired of cutting myself with normal shaver and cream. For now I've been doing just dry shaving. Cleaning is easy. It doesn't capture all the hair because the way my hair grows but circular motion works and need to invest some time, but at least I don't cut myself

The Panasonic Arc5 Shaver is the best electric shaver I have ever used! It's powerful, comfortable in hand and no irritation to my face. A little pricey, but worth it.

Note that this review is from someone who's been using rotary electric shavers for life, and my first time using foil shavers. The shaver is well built, newest in the Arc 5 line with five foils, so it's large, covering the most surface on shavers of this type. The whole shaver is made in Japan. It comes with a charger that is 100v-240v -- with 110v plug (Needs an adapter when traveling abroad). Also comes with a compact case in the shape of the shaver. It charges quickly, but using a proprietary plug. It came as a surprise that it doesn't use a standard or wireless charger. The internal Li-Ion battery is replaceable but not user-replaceable as the seal can break when opening the shaver (As per instructions). A display shows the percentage charge remaining (but not an estimation of time remaining). It seems to be able to go for weeks without recharging so this is fine It's also somewhat loud, compared to other shavers. It's waterproof and can be used in both dry and wet shaving. The shaving head pivots to follow the contour of the face, and can also be locked in place. I personally find it more steady and quicker to use by locking it. It does produce a clean shave, but I have to go over several times. It doesn't work very well with overgrown beard. It's best to use a trimmer first. Also because the shaving head is so large and the foils are a bit far from the edge of the shaving head, it can be blunt when trying to shave around facial hair. For this it comes with a trimmer that pops from the back of the shaving head, and works very well for cleaning off sideburns. After several uses, it gets better, although problem areas like around the neck persist. No issues whatsoever with nicks or cuts. Cleaning: The manual recommends to wash, rinse and then oil it daily. This seems a bit much to me. Opening it and rinsing it is actually very easy. I'd say the easiest shaver to clean. Note that there is also a version of this same shaver with a rinsing base. Holding the base of the shaver feels natural. It has a grip area on the front right below the pivoting head, and the whole back is rubberized. Overall it's a great foil shaver that produces smooth and close shaves. Give it about a week to get used to it.

Feels very good in the hand and back side of the handle has texture to improve grip and help avoid accidental / slippery drops. Device has 5 replaceable shaving blades which are doing great job, and flexible head which is designed for both efficacy and comfort. On some spots I had to use pop up trimmer (chin and parts of the neck) but results were surprisingly good. I’m switching to this electric Panasonic Arc5 razor after having used another brand’s wet/dry electric razor for the past 13 years. The Arc5 razor is lightweight, and the matte black plastic doesn’t look or feel very premium, however, a silver/chrome model is also available and the warranty is 2 years. This razor performs very nicely and gives me a close shave both when using dry and wet with shaving cream. I very rarely have to make more than one pass over the same patch of skin, though I find that when shaving dry it’s easier to pull the skin taught to raise the hairs since I don’t have to work over the shaving cream. The first time I used the razor I did experience a bit of razor burn and irritation, especially around the Adam’s apple; the manual suggests that it could take up to 30 days of regular use for your skin to acclimate to the new shaver. That, plus I haven’t clean shaven properly in weeks as growing out your beard has become quite trendy during the COVID-19 pandemic. That said, I did use the trimmers first to trim my facial hair down to stubble before shaving and was impressed with the efficiency and smoothness of the pop up trimmers; they didn’t catch, pull, or snag once, which my old electric razor used to do constantly. If you like the stubble or 5 o’clock shadow look, you could probably even stop there. The LCD is bright and easy to read, but it really only gives you information about the remaining battery life and whether or not it is set to the “cleaning” mode. The charging cable connector is uniquely shaped, so if you lose it or it breaks, you’ll need to get a model/series specific replacement cable. It lasts about 2 weeks on a full charge (1 hour) if your daily shave averages about 3 minutes. While the unit I have did not come with a charging base, there are contacts on back of the handle for automatic charging when the razor is placed into a charging base. What I did find interesting about this razor is its beard density sensor which changes the motor speed based on the density/coarseness of the section of beard it is trimming. You can hear the motor sound change as it encounters thinner or thicker patches of hair, which works well on my uneven and patchy beard growth. The razor also has a cleaning cycle and comes with blade oil to maintain the blade sharpness and a brush to clean out any shavings. The top pops off easily for cleaning, and the foils and blades are simple to remove and replace when needed. The unit did come with a leatherette carry case and a plastic protective cap for travel. Overall, I really like this razor and think it performs nicely for my daily shaving needs.

This Panasonic Arc5 shaver seems to be an iterative update to the previous model that addresses some of the major complaints about the older unit. The biggest complaint seems to be bulk and weight, this new unit is very slim and easy to hold with good weight and balance. The head is still relatively heavy but that's because there's 5 foil heads and all the motors in that area, but its still not heavy. The battery power is excellent, it took only 30 minutes to charge from 20% to 100% and apparently the run time is 45 minutes which should be good for a full week of business travel. There is a nice pleather case and the charger is high quality. The charging connector is a little bit clunky but most folks will only need it once a week or so. If you want a more seamless experience, buying the charging and cleaning base may make more sense. Overall a great shaver, highly recommend since a few years worth of razors costs similar.

The shaver seems pretty solid and all-around quality shaver. I prefer the horizontal shavers as opposed to the circular ones. I think these shave a bit cleaner than the circular/triangular ones do. The package includes the basic things like a case, charger and some oil. Nice little package and will be great for traveling. This shaver also has a side trimmer. The head on this shaver is pretty loose compared to other ones I've had. It's a floating head so it's just a bit different than what some people might be used to. There is an option to lock the head in place too so there is that. Shaver cleans really nice and is easy to clean so that's always a bonus.

I've only used this shaver a few times since purchaseing, but I can already tell this is one of the best I've ever bought. My most recent electric was a Remington F5. Used it about 6 years. Bulky, heavy, NOISY, and had to go over and over the same areas to get close. The last replacement blade/foil combo did not shave any closer than the used 2-year old one it was replacing! I've also owned Braun - nice but expensive. Norelco triple head rotary - too many parts to clean and not particularly close. Which brings me to the Panasonic Arc5. It is very comfortable to hold. Extremely quiet! Gives a nice close shave. Has the option to keep the head locked or to flex in different directions. And can be used wet or dry. I've only used it dry -- but I do set my beard up with a pre-shave lotion first. I really like the gauge that tells me how much battery life is left too. I am really impressed so far. Time will tell if there is any longevity to this model. The replacement foil/cutter is quite expensive and must be ordered online. None of the local chain stores stock it.

ARC5 Matte Blk great razor, clean smooth shave no multiple passes needed for a good clean shave. Very quiet, easy in the hand. Great battery life. Can use in lock or pivot mode. Easy to clean. Nice digital readout for battery life. Charges quickly. Comes with head guard and nice travel pouch. Great purchase! I would recommend purchasing extra blades and foils if possible. Highly recommend.

Great shaver at a great price. It gives close shaves. The trimmer for my sideburns is easy-to-use. It's easy to clean. It has a longer lasting charge than previous shavers i owned.

Using 7 months now. Great shaver. Comfortable & close shaves. Quick charging & long lasting with a %charge indicator on grip. Easy to clean. Sometimes skip shaving on the weekend, Friday until Monday morning. Shaving then may take a little longer but no pain or pulling even with my greying beard. Feels good in the hand and sideburns trimmer works well.

I had used a Braun Series 5 (8000) Activator for what seemed like forever. It had seen better days (even with replaced foil and cutter block). I saw the Panasonic Arc5 on Deal of the Day. I had no idea how good this shaver was, but the reviews were outstanding around the Internet so I went for it. I first was taken aback by the large shaver head (I guess due to the 5 blades) but quickly learned that this made shaving quicker. Pros: It cuts closer, and is quieter than my Braun. It is comfortable to hold, and there is no burning or scratching afterwards. It has a pop-up trimmer, and can be used wet or dry (haven't tried the wet shave yet), and also rinses or washes clean. It also has great battery life, shows battery left percentage, time used, and time to clean indicator. In addition, it has a lock-out feature that when activated, it won’t accidentally turn on when you don’t want it to, like when in your luggage. Cons: You can’t use it while it is charging. Also, maybe it’s just my beard, because the Braun did the same thing, but there are a number of hard to cut hairs left behind on my lower neck, and where the jaw meets the neck (especially next to my ears). The pop-up trimmer can help with that.

I have used electrics in the past but have always gone back to traditional razor and shave cream. I shave in the shower but decided to go back to electric, rather than waste all the water and electric required for shower shaves. I bought a new Braun 7, which had a great accessory package and a reasonable price. However, I didn't like the razor. I missed the old pop-up trimmer, as the Braun required removing the foil and snapping on a trimmer. This is not convenient, and I didn't really need most of the other accessories (stubble beard kit) and the whole set-up seemed flimsy. So, I returned it and ordered the Arc 5. I have been happy with the change and the Panasonic seems to be a better build unit. It is more attractive sitting on the counter and no switching of head components are required. I have fairly sensitive skin and have had no issues with this razor. The pop-up trimmer is nice and practical, and the razor is comfortable to use. I have to go over areas multiple times, but that is always the case. I never get as close of a shave as with water/blade/shave cream, but the convenience balances things out. The cleaning system is very compact and doesn't take up much counter space. It seems to do a good job, but it is loud. My wife has come from a couple of rooms away to ask what the noise is. It is louder than the Braun and quite a bit louder than my older Phillips-Norelco. But it works well and is the first one I have had that has a dryer cycle. You can hear the fan, but not like the sonic cleaning. The cleaning solution pouches are overpriced, but there are less expensive options to be found. If you are looking for an electric, I feel this is a good choice. Heads and foils are not cheap for any of them, but you should get a couple of years out of these. Hope they stay available, unlike my Phillips-Norelco. And there isn't the constant snapping on/off of head accessories, like the new generation of Braun. Battery life seems good and has plenty of juice for weeklong trips without a charger. This is my favorite of the three major brands which I have tried.

I previously had always stuck with Braun electric shavers, as I found them to provide a good shave and hold up well over time. However, the most recent Braun razor I had wasn't performing quite as well anymore, and I had to keep replacing the head/blades to get it to do a clean shave with little irritation. When that shaver broke (only had it for a little over a year), I decided to start looking at other brands of electric shavers. After reading lots of reviews, I decided to try the Panasonic Arc5 shaver. The sound it makes was quite different, and it sounded like it wasn't as powerful as the Braun. BUT, when I used it the first time, I was amazed at how well it performed. It may not sound powerful, but it is definitely BETTER than the Braun shaver. It shaved much better on the first pass, whereas the Braun took multiple passes to get most of the hairs. The Braun shaver would pull hairs sometimes, instead of cutting them, which hurt every time. I don't have that issue with the Panasonic Arc5... it cuts short or longer hairs with ease, no pulling or pain. The Arc5 is also really easy to clean. I just pop the head off, run it under the faucet for a bit and clean out the stubble. And I run the shaver itself under the faucet to clean it off. The Braun shavers were not as easy to clean, often getting stubble stuck in places that were a pain to clean out. I don't have that problem with the Arc5. Charging the Arc5 is fast and easy... It does a full charge in less than an hour. The Braun shavers took over an hour to charge. The Arc5 battery lasts longer too... I can get 2-3 full shaves on one full battery charge, whereas I could only get one full shave using the Braun. Overall, I am VERY satisfied with the Panasonic Arc5. I wish I had tried a Panasonic sooner.

Great razor, close shave, light weight, quiet, long lasting battery.

The price was awesome. It doesn’t pull or knick. It is quiet, easy to clean and gives a close shave The charge lasts a long time. Just received for Christmas and haven’t had to charge yet. It is good quality made.

I got this to replace a Braun series 3 that finally broke. I wanted to get a better shaver as the series 3 was inexpensive but a little hard on the skin. Neither did I want to spend $300 and up for a shaver. This Panasonic Arc5 at $150 was a nice compromise. It shaves very well. Better than the Braun series 3 and is much easier on my skin. Far less irritation. The charge lasts for several shaves and the unit is easy to clean. There is a built in trimmer but I don't use it. I'm very satisfied with the shaver.

I've been using this shaver for a week now and I will say it is an excellent shaver. I had been using a circular shaver and I believe I get a closer shave with this straight shaver. I like the way it moves with the contours of your face while shaving. The battery was quick to charge and so far is staying at 100% charged for much longer than I anticipated. It is easy to take apart and clean and it fits very well in my hand as I am shaving. All in all I am very pleased that I made this purchase.

This is my first shaver like this and I’m sold! This will shave as close as a razor blade and give you that baby face smooth shave. I’m not the biggest fan of that feeling after I shave my face, being bald, I am a fan of that when I shave my head. When I shave my face I like a little stubble left. Shaving my head with this I was extremely surprised it did as well as a razor. I have a small spot on the top of my head that with a razor if I go to fast I can cut, that’s not a problem with this. Panasonic says the outer foil system should be replaced after 1 year and the inner blades after 2 years. If the blades last that long, that’s amazing and well worth the price in disposable blades alone.

I have been using Braun shavers my whole life, and I’ve seen the quality go down and down. I git fed up after my last Braun only lasted 9 months, so i decided to give Panasonic a try, Wow! I’m so impressed with this. I get far bettet shaves than ive gotten from any of my old razors in decades. This is a fantastic shaver that is quiet, easy to clean, and simply works great.
